Eve Online is announcing once again that they are breaking their own PCU (Peak Concurrent Users) numbers. On Sunday, September 11th, EVE servers climbed to 15,209. Developers are crediting EVE's new expansion, "EVE Online: Cold War Edition" for the boost.
Continuing with the theme of growth, EVE has also announced that they are very close to breaking the 70,000 mark in terms of subscribers. These announcements leave little doubt as to whether or not EVE is continuing to grow.
This evening at 19:40 GMT, EVE players raised their own Peak Concurrent User record to 15.209. Congratulations everyone! This was an truly amazing moment, thanks to all EVE players for making this possible. This record is the latest in a series of PCU records following EVE's latest expansion - EVE Online: Cold War Edition. On a similar note, the EVE universe continues to grow and is now just 1.500 short of 70.000 subscribers, all playing together in the same universe. EVE is here to stay and this is just the beginning. To our knowledge this represents a world record for the largest number of users sharing a persistent virtual world, where no sharding or instancing is used. |

Good news indeed! CCP have made a game that stands head and shoulders above the rest and the EVE playerbase is by far the most interesting bunch of folk in any mmorpg.
It will be very interesting to see how the Devs adapt the game as EVE-Online draws more and more players, 20k or 30k records will be broken in the near future as more and more gamers tire of the "more of the same mmorpgs".
WTG! CCP and EVE addicts
(I'm going to have to get back into EVE myself, hey Pep any room in the UKC atm? )
can't say i really care much lol
hehe... I bet you would if you are interested in playing the maybe most immersive and most long-time fun game that exists at the moment with the best and friendliest community around....
but well... the huge numbers of players of WoW and co show clearly that people are more interested in following a hype than playing good games....
step out of your cutie asian carebear world, or of your blocky and insanely repetitive "world of waiting-for-10-hours-to-join-a-battlegrounds-match" and you get into a beautiful universe filled with player built and owned spacestations, vast PvP battles and hunt pirates, produce equipment or fight for your corporation.
but - as I said... most wont even touch a game without elves.... their loss
i play and love the game but is it really news worthy every time they break the PCU seeing as to how it's at least every other weekend?
Make of it what you will.

many of thoes new accounts most likely are current players that are getting new accounts and/or using the trial accounts.
WOOT for EVE. Was interested in it for a year now. then they launched the free trial accounts. Im hooked and paying. Im sure a lot of other people have or will do the same. I saw the same thing happen in AO when funcom launched there free trials. Bunch of players come in and a lot wind up subscribing. I do agree that EVE should remain a smaller game player wise. but i think since most people want to be Elves this shouldnt be a problem but Grats to CCP on making the best MMO imo.
