TERAs CS ruined other games to me

Heinz130Heinz130 Member Posts: 227

I was about to buy life time sub for TSW to w8 for archeage, after a 3 weekends without beta i decided to play some tera, what was a good and bad decision...good becouse im having ALOT of fun with pvp in teras combat system, bad becouse after taste teras combat system all other wow-like combat style games now look imcomplete to me

Teras combat system brings the fight, specialy the pvp for a new level, where players manual skills counts alot

The glyphs on this game counts alot, making possible to try many diferent strategy, hit hard, hit fast, hit for cc...all equaly eficient

Now,when archeage is released ill leave tera for sure since all its features and contents are far more important than just the combat system, but ill miss alot of this teras CS

I wonder if the games developed from now on will adopt it or even archeage if its possible

WoW 4ys,EVE 4ys,EU 4ys
FH1942 best tanker for 4years
Playing WWII OL for some years untill now
many other for some months

I didn't subscribe to TERA but since playing it, tab targeters just annoy me.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

I do agree with you on this point, TERAs combat, especially once you've played until 60 and have completely understood the system, makes it really hard to go back to most games. Rift I just couldn't do it, WoW is 50/50, I still can enjoy the PvP in WoW but PvE is about as bland as it gets. I'll say another thing though, after playing TERA for so long going back to those games makes their graphics look worse than when I left. I used to think Rifts were awesome now not so much, besides the fact Rift has better culling distance, something that bothers me in TERA.

I know there will be people who just can't grasp the concept of being unable to circle strafe at 100mph while swinging their weapon aimlessly, but for those that can, this system is really good.

One thing i'd like to mention is that TERAs combat can be improved on with regard to player positioning/syncing and reduction of the effects of latency, they can cause small issues here and there. I know this is an extremely difficult thing to fix but with technology going the way it is I think it can be done.

I still play TERA daily and people are starting to form some huge rivalries on Basilisk Crag making PvP much more common(during and after the Nexus there was a 3Guild vs 5Guild war consisting of around 150+ players yesterday), I really hope this continues to hold enough people until QoA part 2.

It s funny how everyone is different. The combat in Tera just flat out annoyed me after awhile. To each their own, of course, but Teras combat, to me isn t that great.

tera has the best combat of all the themeparks so far.. makes it hard to play the old style alt tab games... the rooting is not so bad after awhile and that has meaning cause otherwise would be a smash button fest that only the one with best ping would win all the time... here you need to think before you act..it needs brains and it needs tactics and strategy.. only flaw is the generic system of quests that make it feel a bit grindy but its not so tragic as some people try to make it sound..

I couldn't play tab-target stuff after trying out Dragon Nest, go figure :)

Worth mentioning, I now play only melee classes -in my  tab-target games times, almost all the time ranged only.

I really hope that this combat style will be adopted by other games in the future, instead of selling for "action combat" what could be at best (if anything)  called  "action-ish"(GW2, TSW etc)

It took me some adjustment period to go back to other games, but I managed.

I certainly hope so, but it may be difficult for devs that don't use the Unreal engine, which was designed for action combat.
