Guildwars 2 announced it is launching in two months http://www.arena.net/blog/announcing-the-guild-wars-2-launch-date
My thought is that, TSW was going to release unfinished and have a bit of time to polish up and revise things. Knowing that GW2 launches in two months removes any buffer zone as people may jump ship in a couple of months and since they didn't play long enough to get attaced to TSW they will not return.
If you buy TSW and blast through it in a week or two, then it won't change anything. If you expected to stay and redo every quest 100 times for whatever reason and PvP with builds that require more than two buttons or whatever reason there is for staying, this news is bad as people will leave.
I was thinking TSW would have 6 months to fix the issues, this news means it has less in my opinion.

Wha? I would think most people will have a sub game and GW2 at the same time. Heck the speedy players will be done with the TSW content in two months anyway.
people are still very closed minded about the GW2 VS TSW stuff.. why not play and enjoy both games? GW2 has no sub so it's not hard to do. If you happen to end up liking GW2 more than you can opt out of TSW but many like TSW for many other reasons that GW2 doesn't offer... I for one will play both but if GW2 ends up sucking all my time ill opt out of TSW simple as that.

It does seem like alot more are interested in GW2 than in TSW......Open beta will also cut into that 2 months time...... Then again alot of people may buy TSW and play for a month before making a decision.
1 sub and 1 free. I don't see an either or situation here. Nice try though. Its interesting how much time the GW2 fanboys spend n the TSW forums.
Why does everyone love GW2 so much, everything else has to suck? I actually bought GW2 early, played in the beta..it was fine..cool. But I think TSW stands on it's own and has somehting different to offer. Just my "OP" opinion..
One is B2P and one is sub.
But beyond that, just speaking for myself, I'm burnt out on high fantasy genre. If TSW doesn't hold my attention for the long term, I wouldn't be buying GW2 any how.
Most of the games I've played over the years were high fantasy. Part of what attracts me to TSW, Eve, DCUO or PS2 is that it doesn't include a high fantasy setting.

The issue for most players isn't money but rather time. MMOs are a time sink, so most players can only juggle 1. I juggle many non MMOs but only 1 MMO at a time do to the time investment. Summer is a hit or miss period as well for MMOs, in raiding guilds the die hards would play less during summer and the casuals would play more so it evened out.
I've had very limited time in GW2 but TSW definitely offers some things that GW2 doesn't (and dosen't intend to). I'm just loving doing research on builds and theorycrafting as the combat system is crazy in depth in this game. And by in depth I don't really mean the mechanics of combat but the factors involved in the system.
I bought both and I feel TSW will fill the couple months before the release of GW2.
I see a lot of people not juggling multiple MMOs mostly because of cost and to many clones... TSW and GW2 are very differn't games and people like them for mostly differn't reasons. If TSW offers enough for fans to feel the sub is worth it and even if the person loves GW2 i would still see that person keeping a sub with TSW and playing GW2 at the same time.

I really don't get why people think the world will stop for GW2 I mean sure it's a decent game compared all the trash we have been given lately and it has no sub which is very attractive but its not the bestsandboxbestthemeparkbestpvpbestpveandrpmmoevermadesoeveryonehastoloveit.
Well, I'm a one MMO at a time player, so this (GW2 launch date) really sealed my decision on passing on TSW for now.
I'll just finish out my sub for TERA and maybe dabble in a few F2P's that I've missed until Aug 28th. (heck might even resub to EVE for a bit)
Someday in the future I'll probably give TSW a try, once I'm sure they've got the game up to sufficient standards, which always seems to happen post launch with Funcom titles.

If you are a casual player then splitting your time between both will work to your advantage because you will never run out of content.
If you want to speed to the end than you can do what you need to do in one, move to the next, and while you are playng that second game it allows for additional content to be added in the first.
Again, there is no either or decision to be made no matter how much you are trying to imply there is. The people who want to play TSw will play TSW, those who want to play GW2 will play GW2. Those who want to play both will play both.
it is the biggest AAA MMO to come out to no offer a monthly sub.. that does say something

Fair enough. But I'm a polygamer...will play both and tell each one I love it the best

OP.
4th of July federal holiday. If your gonna release a game in the summer that would be a good time to do it.
And i should care about GW2 because?
Also, tares, explain to me why i should give a flying fu** about the sucess of a game. Do i get money fro it? Nope. So, i do have to care about GW2 overshadowing TSW. I know it will, but point is?
I aint interested at all in GW2 after testing in closed beta i got utterly bored with it..
So no im glad TSW is launching as its a lot more fun than GW2 for me.. Will the pop drob when GW2 is released.. yes of course but it will soon go back up as im sure most who like both gaems will play both...
There's nothing wrong with it's timing. The only other game to have released recently is TOR and the shininess hasdulled to rust on that one for most, TSW has the summer to gather a starting fanbase without any competition from MMO's and very little from the single player market. If anything GW2 has picked the worst time of the two, slap bang when people go back to school and right at the start of the blockbuster single player games release season.
No i won't be playing TSW and yes i will be GW2, neither has anything to do with timing though.
forgot about TERA:) its ok many others have as well:P

I will be playing both and I will be taking both games slow. I enjoy the journey more than the destination anyway.
That one completely escaped my mind, says a lot lol.
Nop Bad timing.
it is only a bad game with good competitors.
There r people around who r not interested in GW2. Me for example)))

So you honestly think that GW2 will launch with no issues or bugs? You think people won't blast through the content in GW2 with a fervor?
In my humble opinion two months is plenty of time to get attached to a game if you like it. I personally know within a week of two if I'm going to get hooked on a game. I don't see that Gw2 would have much effect on TSW if it's something someone has been wanting to try.
Also, let me lay this on ya. What if... as we're doing what ifs... What if someone buys TSW and likes it, but is not completely sold and also buys GW2 two months later and plays that for two months. TSW at this time has had 4 months to fix issues and add content while Gw2 is still fending off bugs and issues of their own. It can go either way.
