I played in closed beta, have finished most quest in the game the game, the last few patches did nothing but break even more things. Just wait a few days, SWTOR was very polished in comparison.
Please stop.... first of all i doubt you are in CB and CB characters have been wiped. After patches that have been rolling in for last 4 days TSW is not buggy or have broken quests. Anyone who can pimp their character from Fate merchant on trestlive servers and make a quick run through content can confirm this
I didn't come across one broken quest in Kingsmouth and Savage coast for example which were in very bad state during CB
Your info is horribly outdated.
Was this in the past few days? Cause I ran into quite a few bugged quests on Savage Coast during the last beta weekend.
man people just dont have enough stuff to bitch about.
Seriously I would love it if my char sat down to have an RC cola, while ordering in game meals from Popeye's.
Why do MMO players feel that the companies shouldnt try to maximize their profits. I am all for every gaming company to make as much money as the market allows, I am all for EVERY company to make as much money as the market allows. Its free economy. Maybe the next game Funcom makes is paid for exclusively by advertising, if so kudos for them, do you people bitch when you see a coca-cola bottle in your favorite episode of some crappy SYFY show, that you all worship.
Welcome to reality, Funcom made a game to make money, bottom line, live with it, and go away if you cant handle it, I will gladly pay monthly if I feel I get my entertainments worth, which I am sure I will, and go wait for GW2 elsewhere.
But if I'm not, now you playing TSW are going to get quad-dipped. Box + monthly + CS + ingame advertisment?! I'm assuming MMORPG has paid for these to be in the game. I may be wrong and I'm sure a staff member will tell me if I am. Or maybe it was a trade, advert in TSW for the main advert on the site, which is no diffrent.
Seriously though. How far are gamers going to let crap like this happen? I get it, it doesnt bother some of you. To me TSW and Funcom are just becomming laughable.
You're talking about the MMORPG.com T-shirt?
I fail to see how that would offend anyone, since this site does not cost anything to view or join. And not like the shirt has any stats so no one actually needs it to do good in the game.
Besides, I think I heard them thinking about in-game advertising ages ago. It's a game set in the "real world" so it would make sense to have ads of real world stuff.
Quid pro quo, you do know MMOTPG will release a review of this game. IGN gave diablo a 95 because it got early access to game reveals.
Old news. Anyone following the gaming industry has long since stopped believing "professional" reviews. I purchase my games based on word of mouth from gamers and playing demos/betas/trials. Not marketing, not reviews.
Of all the things that bother me about this game in-game advertising would be the least of them. With it's modern day setting product placement would be no different than walking down the street, considering the game world is meant to feel familiar I can't see how it would bother people.
I remember both Crackdown and Rainbow Six: Vegas had in-game advertising. Billbords, posters for Axe deodorants and movie posters. Why the hell should this bother me as a gamer? This just makes the change between the real world and the game world even more seamless. You people really need to chill out, walk outside and get some sun. I've never seen as much complaining and whining in my entire life, as I've seen the last few months on this forum. What's wrong with you? x) If you really really hate the game, why do you spend so much time posting in this forum about it? Why aren't you playing your favorite game instead? It just seems strange to waste time on something you clearly hate with a passion...

You obviously weren't here when SWTOR launched?
Or Warhammer, or Age of Conan, or Diablo 3, or any game in the last 5 years.
Why do people feel the need to post crap complaining about a game in forums and a game they have no intention of playing.. i dont get it...
You dont get me posting in the GW2 forums over and over saying how boring and how much it feels like every other fantasy themepark mmo do you..
My answer would be this.
You got players that are simply bored and have nothing better to do then to throw their doom and gloom scenario. If something doesn't look appealing to them then it's a failure and should be done away with.
You see they are stuck in a certain theme of viral hate and absolutely bored to tears with their current mmo and have nothing to do. If their not going to have fun in a mmo, they will make sure you don't either.

Most gamers aren't bothered by it and find it entertaining. A lot of MMO gamers seem have ricepaper skin lately, as they burst into a table-flipping rage the minute a game - even a game they had no intention of playing to begin with - offers a feature or option that they don't like.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre

I'm not sure I understand your problem. When I drive down the road I'm bombarded with billboards and other forms of advertising. When I go to the grocery store I'm bombarded with advertising. When I go to the mall, when I get on the Internet, when I read a magazine, read the newspaper, open my mail. Heck, when I go to the bathroom at a restaurant or the mall there are advertisements behind the urinals at eye level and in the stalls on the back of the door. Bottom line there is no aspect of my life, when conducted in a public or semi-public place that doesn't have at least some advertisement.
This game, talking place in 'the Real World" but different... I expect advertising. In fact, when I see the US-based soda machines, it bothers me that they're not Coca-Cola or Pepsi sold machines. They should be. Not some fake, made-up brand. And everytime I see one I lose immersion because it's FAKE and it violates the suspension of disbelief because ti's the WRONG thing to be fake about.
So, if Funcom could swing a product placement deal with Coca-Cola or Pepsi, it'd help immersion. And if it made them more profitable, it's no skin off my nose. OTOH, if they put cut-scene advertising or sound advertising, that'd be different.
Don't care about t-shirts since i don't care about the CS. In-game adverts like boards and whatever. Sure, go ahead. What's the big deal? Man, people on the net a such a bunch of QQ babies.
"OMG the evil companies are using ways to make more money" What are you? 8, pretending to be a defender of justice and money or something? It's called business and real world.
Also, i would love to see one of those advertising blimps passing the hub cities from time to time with videos and messages saying "Play AO and AOC". I'd laugh so hard at that. But, it would have to be only a small amount of times.

Unfortunately its a risk we all take when buying any type of mmo game. These developers didn't have a gun to our head and say you must play this. Most players buy into hype (and I am guilty of this as well), but as a adult, you know certain things in life are gambles.
I am glad we do have many choices in games to pick (imagine if we had nothing at all). Back in my time you would drop a quarter into a machine and you got your kicks at the arcade. The home computer had 8 bit graphics with a sid chip for music and the only way to communicate was through a BBS.
And yes I was there with all those games just mentioned. Warhammer I got my 3 months of fun with it as well as Age of Conan. Diablo 3 even though I was disappointed with it, I'm still going to log into it when I need a change of scenario.
Games will make money however they see fit. Personally if I see a game going f2p I tend to drop it like a bad habit. I know I know... a lot of folks in MMO's like the f2p b2w option. I'm just not really a fan of the quick road. I like to feel I earned something in a game. But complaining about a freebie t-shirt that cost you nothing? That's retarded.

Nothing wrong with a MMORPG.com shirt in a MMORPG.
Its allways fun to see how people turn a good and fun idea intoo something negative..
I totally agree. They had advertising in Anarchy Online and that did annoy me because the world of AO is not in the same setting as our current world so that Mountain Dew billboard made no sense. What it DID do for AO though was amazing. My organization was having a social event and I designed a billboard for it. I then emailed Funcom's CM asking if it would be possible if they could use my art and put it INTO THE GAME. They said "Yes". Shortly after I sent it in I ran into a billbord that had my advertisement. Funcom, at least at the Anarchy Online level, has an amazing relationship with their customers. They wouldn't do this if they felt it wasn't going to be met with approval by most of us.
Also what the advertisement did in Anarchy Online, because some of the billboards were streaming video, was offer the opportunity to stream live concerts which it had done. AO subscribers got to watch a free concert in game. Again, the concert did not mesh well with the AO universe but in TSW...such a thing...awesome.

well, i got myself the t-shirt.
because it's advertising for mmorpg.com? surely not.
rather to have one more t-shirt i can wear when i feel like it.
are you advertising for metallica when wearing their t-shirts?? if so, those shirts should be forbidden in clubs imo
not fair to pay entrance, for the drinks and then get bothered by commercials in the club!!!!
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
Wow okay, the Subject had me very concerned and going WTF? there for a moment... but the shirt? Alright man, I'm not going to knock you for not liking it. I don't agree with your disagreement of it, personally, but to each their own.
Product placement would work very well in TSW. A Pepsi or Coke vending machine, for example, would fit in naturally with the game world. I wouldn't mind at all as long as they kept it small like that (eg; don't go building missions that are focused on a McDonald's or some such absurdity).
I can definitely see real life name brand clothing in their item store. Hopefully they will mostly avoid the tacky stuff with a large name printed across the shirt.

When I saw the headline of the thread I stopped with a disappointed "REALLY" rolling off my tongue.
Then I read the post... Way to over react like a fool.
I just took them up on a MMORPG shirt and I would love an old Metallica shirt or a Chevy baseball hat with the bowtie logo on it.
I would expect modern era items we can recognize.
I am sure there are a few people out there that want a shirt or hat for their character with a monster logo on it.
In-game advertising on clothes and billboards and the like would actually enhance the immersion imo....I would love to see it in game.
