This launch date is horrible. It is right when the bulk of the gaming community is going to college, highschool, graduate school etc... I do not understand games that do not set up their release dates with well know college breaks and vacations. I am just disappointed because I wanted to grind this game out before I went to college, not during my first couple of days at the school were I might not even be set up to play yet. ARGH!!! This whole summer, there has not been one good game....
This post takes the term "entitled gamer" and "entitled american" to a whole new, verry sad level. Not to mention if I am not mistaken the average gamer is something like 22-35ish? If I am remembering that number right that means the "bulk" of the gaming community is out of school.
To be honest, if you are going to cry about this I have to wonder if you are even mature enough to be ready for college. People on these forums can argue, flame, troll, and act like all around douchebags but to cry about this and be serious about it is really bad.
Haha apparently the OP is 32 years old, and pages that I read people were treating him as if he was half that age. Great stuff!
The OP's level of selfishness would be expected from someone that young and a measure of restraint from posters would be warranted. At 32 it is just plain puzzling that such a level of egocentrism still exists.

Ahhhh good ole' entitlement culture and first world problems, how i loathe you both. Are you serious right now man? Really? Getting over it would go a long way to making you into a proper adult.

Wow, I forgot that my audience here was bitter unemployed college grads who can player this game any time of the year because they do not have a job. I speak for the majority and younger part of the community when I say that this release date is horrible. How did they chose this one in the board room? Did they not consider that a majority of their buyers would be extremely stressed out with starting school again? Such a bad business move, they should have considered the happiness of the majority.
I have a full time job, I have a family and I still find time to play, my life just doesnt revolve around gaming.
Screw this thread, collectively. Not an entirely unreasonable point, the OP made. But, of course, this is the internet and it could only end in disaster. le sigh...
i dont know about you guys but when i was in college i was either busy having a social life or studying during the school year, not playing f*cking mmorpgs lol. GPA+sex with girls > guild wars 2. sorry.
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)

Wow you seriously painted yourself a target on the back of your head. And NO you do not speak for the majority. As for gaming during college, I've got friends who are double majoring in areas like mathematics and physics who still have time for MMO gaming. Seriously stop being so stupid. If you've got time management issues, deal with em. Don't lash out on others and at the Anet devs. I HIGHLY doubt any course would kick off that high of a work load that won't allow you to get some playtime in. And yea you're right, people would be totally stressed as to whether they should stay in game or go out to frats and obliterate their livers in the first month of school. How inconsiderate of Anet. Also stop making assumptions about people being unemployed college grads. Makes you look like a douche.
(Mods sorry for the word douche if it's against the rules, but that first comment in the post really pissed me off)
Soon they will have to release "Student Editions" of GW2 (and all games) that are cheaper in cost and limited in content. This will accommodate their limited funds and time.

and only available to play during Breaks and holidays too )
Actually its the time when people, including students, return from vacation and to their daily routine and its a great time for them to have something to play in their spare time.
I'd like to have the game right now, since I'm still working and it'd have been nice to be able to play after work but if I was at school / college and on summer break I assure you I'd spend my time on a beach somewhere with friends, not just playing games 24/7.

Hahaha!
[mod edit]
Since the "younger" crowd are dependent on real working adults to give them funds, they aren't really that important from a business aspect. Also, you haven't even started college yet and you're making judgments on bad business moves? [mod edit]
Let adults worry about who's going to be paying to play the games. [mod edit]
Seriously? Mods edited this?
I'm really wondering what the hell is going on with this forum lately... people who should get mod edits or warnings usually don't, and those who should not - they actually do! -.-'

This is one of the most unbelievable threads I've ever seen on mmorpg.com and that's saying a lot.

Im pretty sure they could release sooner if they wanted to. Early August would have solved the issue.
