They have announced they'll be putting plastic surgeons in the game in the hopefully near future. At least they've heard the character customization complaints and are doing something about it. So far I've played a few hours tonight and I have to say I'm damn impressed with the launch and some of the tweaks since I last played a few weeks ago. I was there for the launch of AoC and it seems like Funcom learned their lesson. There were some issues with the ingame store and getting preorder items but I believe those problems have been ironed out. There's another issue where in some cases creating characters on the Grim server will result in your character being on Cerberus. Apparently if you contact support they can move you.

All in all, I'd have to say one of the smoothest launches I've been involveld with, up there with Rift and TOR.

I think the item claim was poorly explained, and it did have massive lag between claiming the item and item delivery.  Right before and during the notice that the CS was going down to fix the issue i was in the process of claiming all items (was like 10-15 items in all)

The weapons slowly trickled into my inventory, they were poorly labeld in the CS, just the name couldnt tell what specific weapon it was untill it hit my inventory, not a huge deal since you just take them all one by one and get every weapon type (they do look great by the way) Then theres the clothing items, again poorly explained.  I saw peopel complaining they never got the jacket and shirt...but you had to hit "C" and go into the dressing room where they were in their appropriate clothing slot as an option...most assumed it would hit their inventory.

As far as the RMT cash shop, since im on the subject...bunch of tag along pets, titles (lol?) some limited edition fireworks (not sure if permanant or limited use) and...some quite unappealing clothing bits...most the cloths looked a bit goofy except a few jackets...goofy like bunny slipper some kind of tribal furry boots...hippy shirts...

Anyway, played for about 7 hours...the game was PACKED with players, to the point where some of the quests were a bit fustrating to complete...however i never seemed to reach an actual bottleneck that lasted more than 1-2 min (assuming respawns on mobs and items were increased) also it seemed just a hit on a mob got me quest credit...nice since fighting for mobs wasnt an issue yet.

As packed as it was...no lag everything buttery smooth..preforms excelent on low with a gtx 260 and looked like high settings on other games, cant wait for my new rig to arrive so i can try the dx11 and high settings it looks really good on low.

This could be a funcom first as far as launches go.  Real test comes later on now...is there enough content and how well pvp and hardmode dungeons play out.  I did hear complaints about issues queueing for pvp everyone in my cabal was pvping non stop and i think they limited the amount of intstances spawned...there was high pvp traffic but somewhat long waits, but no lag.

Down side on the game itself...you can tell already theres going to be a lot of  people overly fustrated with the quests. I dont think a lot of first time players have used google to complete quests or have really payed attention to text and the story and they seem quite fustrated in chat regarding how to complete their mission.  I think this will drive away some people but may also attract people who like doing other stuff other than killing mobs for count or drops (has those quests too however)

Limited character creation options.  They need body type options other than the everyones medium build and medium height...and they could easily triple the hair/head slider options and it would still feel a bit limiting.  If this is a gamebreaker wait untill they patch in more.  Needs more clothing options too, looked through the apparel shop in game and didnt find much that appealed to me other than the out of price range business suit.

I have spent a fair amount of time in that 7 hours figuring stuff out, trying to get past security sytems which is very movement puzzle like and listining and reading...which is a nice change of pace from the usual spam killing stuff.  Its a good pace blending killing stuff and not killing stuff to progress.

My only worry...is there enough content? Hard to tell at this point.

But yeah...no drama...was more drama with beta than launch...which is how it should be.  Actually shocking tbh...wouldnt believed it unless i saw it given the developer and how bad beta was reviewed.

Unfortunately the character creator is still pretty poor. Better than the beta builds, but vastly worse than AoC and of course any other game releaed in 2012.

    Everything else is amazing though!

I need to take this advice more.

Your post is really piquing my interest, which has been until now only lukewarm. I am really glad to hear that FC got on the ball this time round. As they say, three is a charm.

I hope you do come back to this forum and tell us fence sitters if there is enough content. I am thinking of giving this a try in a month or so like I did with ToR. AO, despite its many problems, had just tons of content in Rubi-Ka pre-expacs. You have absolutely no idea if TSW will be the same? Are there general dungeons a bit like in AO?

Playing MUDs and MMOs since 1994.

I watched a buddy go thru character creatin for like 4 hours today, in our opinion, yes everyone still is very..well I duno if chimp is the word I want to use, but..odd.  The face presets are all way too simmilar, slight iterations on otherwise the same shape of head.  Character creation was a massive letdown to both of us, was really hoping that there would be a nice in depth character creator and it lacks hardcore.

Could be just me, but watching the combat seemed a bit better than my memory of playing it.  Maybe it's a different animal when I'm not behind the keyboard, but the combat looks like it flowed a lot better than when I played.  I'm still not getting the game, not worth the sub fee in my mind.  Still, altogether I think Funcom did a wonderful job on launch, everything seems to be running very smoothly.

Shame everyone looks the same style of ugly in the face department.

If there are any problems, we will only hear about them when people come up for a breather and stop playing for a while to grab some food / give their eyes a rest / etc (or if the servers go down LOL)

All the people that care about TSW are playing their asses off right now, and the rest are too hyped about the GW2 release date to think about anything else :)

On a more serious note. I really cant see any major complaints going on. Some log in issues at the start. Claim items not available yet and 1 OOM issue on 32bit systems. Had there been any serious problems this forum would have been packed with OMG Failcom. etc etc etc.

Lets see how it goes on the 3rd but this looks like a major step up for Funcom. I have said it before AO was Alpha, AoC was Beta, TSW is release. :)

The monsters-from-under-the-bridge are all awaiting the release of GW2 before pouncing is all. TSW players are all too busy killing zombies.

Same here thought it was very poor and not bothered since...

Ya I mean I waste my time also posting on forums of a game I could give a crap less about and not interested in *rolls eyes*

I made a last minute decision to try it and so far I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

No, you would hear about it from the players that are not playing.  TSW sold to AoC and AO fans, not so much other critical players it seems. The real issues were mentioned, server ping in europe, the zerg pvp jone is a joke due to base trading and faction imbalance, Dx 11 issues, some quest issues, crashes, memory leaks, toon creater and style is poor,  skill wheel/weapons are not  balanced. combat is worse than any MMO aside from warhammer in 12 years, to few players, etc.

If so many are waiting on GW2 is means TSW has no future.

I think we are all just beyond bashing a game on release now. If Bioware couldn't pull off a smooth launch with a 100 million budget then what hope is there. I think at this point as long as the company doesn't give your credit info to the Russian Mafia they are doing their best.

    Here you go! http://www.thesecretworld.com/news/post_launch_character_customisation

After hearing the outcries of the community they did replace a lot of combat animations to feel more 'actiony'. Ex: Pistols used to just shoot one bullet on the builder ability, now it does a spray.

Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
    Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2
