Apparently some players still need to read missions and need taken by the hand in this game.

I admit, I played CB so I have a head start on how missions are, but some are complaining do to the fact they can't figure out the mission or they aren't doing the mission properly so they complain or excuse it as a bugged mission.

So there are no bugged missions?

I must concur. I love FC, but even I was suprised on how smooth prelaunch has been. there are a few bugged quests, limited crashing, but the game has been one of the smoothest (equal to/if not smoother than rift) MMO launches I have EVER had the privilege of being a part of.

Finally the curse of Funcom having failed launches is gone; it was about the same quality as Rift's launch in my opinion :). I launched the game and it ran pretty smoothly, only issues I was getting was due to Windows 8 and some poor overclocking on my side, switched to Windows 7 and all my problems were gone.

What's with the comparisons to Rift?  Didn't they have 5 hour queues for the first few days?

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Ip layed Rift at launch longest que I had was 45 min.... I actually have found more bugs in this launch then Rifts.. none of the bugs I have found so far are game breaking though just couple things like burning graphic effect on my char gets stuck sometimes for like an hour. When you set guild chat to a chat window and enter an any instance or change zones it doesn't save you have to reselect cabal and officer chat.  Some graphical glitches with shadows and in cutscenes some choppiy playback. All in all nothing major just minor annoyances... oh yea some instant cast abilities seem to have a delay on them when they shoot off.. I noticed this with ignite skill

Started questing in the Blue Mountains today and I've got to say that the game runs really smooth.

I've not had any issues with the client-performance, nor did I had a CTD so far.

There's two quests I couldn't finish due to either bugs or whatever. The quests are "Two fir Tango" where the damn dog never shows up, allthough I've waited for extended periods of time (30min+) and the other quest was "Men in Black Vans 4/4", but this could be me being stupid aswell.

The pre-order-items from the shop took some 1 or 2 hours to show up, but that's not a biggie really.

All in all it's a damn good release so far. Gotta wait for tomorrows patch and see what they fix.

Very smooth semi-launch.  Only bug I've experienced so far was the waypoint not showing up on my map for a quest I had in Kingsmouth.  I knew where it was because I had done it before in beta but even without that or a waypoint the quest includes enough info, with pictures no less, to get an idea of where to go.  Other than that, nothing.  Some of the quests are harder than we are use to in other MMOs, so some of the "quest is bugged" talk might be that you're not as spoon fed as much.  There is some investigation and thinking invloved.

Helpful tip, btw.  Do the Fusang pvp warzone quests.  You get a shit load of xp, roughly 15 ability points and some skill points, too.  I managed to get it all done in less than an hour.

There were actually ques on my server (Wolfsbane) this week after the launch of 1.9. Not sure how it is now since I've been busy with TSW :).

Another thing, there are more people in lowbie zones now (in Rift) because of the scavenger Hunt and also mentoring. I'm still quite amazed by frequency and quality of new stuff Trion is putting in Rift.  If FC can even do half as well with TSW, I'll be extremely happy.

Funcom would disagree;p  If you applied to closed beta, played any Funcom game, or played in any open beta an e mail was sent telling you that you may play on the 29th. Yesterday was a very real launch. Today, I mosey on over to Xfire and expected TSW to be in the top 5 because at launch a bigger proportion of players sign in.  TSW is at 35, eve is 24 with double the unique users and claimes 400,000 subscribers but didn't have anything special yesterday, like a launch.

Funcom expected 1.3 million players, yet the number of players is about where open beta 3 was BUT distributed across more servers, so no doubt the launch will be the same as open beta 3. Do we give credit for smooth launches anymore? Tera, SWTOR,and  Rift launched very smooth too.

You do realise that the game hasn't even launched yet don't you?

July 3rd is the release date. Early access is not launch.

I don't play Rift anymore, but its added a lot of content since its release.  Trion seems to be a quality company, esp. for someone new to the MMO industry.

considering this isn't launch, only head start, and most people will be gun shy about funcom, i don't think the game will have the same box sales as AoC right now.

the game will be niche since it isn't a known IP like conan and they didn't advertise  using juvenile nonsense like BOOBS! AND BLOOD! BOOOOOOBS AND BLOOOOOOOD!

the game's PR was rather like the secret societies, there, but not in your face.

someone explain this to me, why is what xfire says taken by people as some gauge of popularity? i highly doubt the majority of gamers use xfire.

i bet there is a large group of people that would play the game, but are waiting to see how the reviews turn out first.

is pvp fun? i never did get around to doing it during the last BWE.

or is it just like every other PVE game? tacked on to snatch up those PVPERS that like the setting and mechanisms? ie:unbalanced and boring?

Its hard to tell right now.  I had some fun but it was very disorganized and I can see organized groups of pvp'ers doing well.  No way of knowing which abilities are OP or UP yet but the good thing about this game is if they do they nerf/buff cycle that seems common for MMO pvp, everyone will have access the ability to get whatever FOTM pvp spec they want.  Theres no class limitations that can gimp you.

Is close to the Nielson rating used for telivision, though I bet larger share of PC gamers use Xfire then TV users get the box or the journals. Secret world even advertises on Xfire.  Funcom may post the official numbers anyway.

Yesterday TSW was ranked #273 due to closed beta, today it is #35 due to headstart.  The top 100 tend to be very spot on when numbers are released or in game numbers are available like call of duty tells you how many players it has. It has World of warcraft as #1, SWTOR as #2, and Aion as #3 for MMOs, and that is close enough but aion and swtor are so close in ranking that if one released subscriber numbers I would assume the other has around the same.

It gets used as a tool in all games, FPS, RPGs, anything on the PC.  I have seen it used by reporters and financial analyst who write something for a paper and then a blog or video game site post it.

Is nothing to worry about the game launches on the third, if the population more than doubles it would go up to #20 where heros of newerth is.

I'm not sure ofc but most don't use Xfire and it's more popular in America I guess. Still it does indicate trends in a broader sense. That said I would not worry too much because which is better - selling 2+ million copies and losing most players in a couple of months (SWTOR as the most recent example) or building up a good game with a dedicated community (EVE I guess)? If the game is shite nothing saves it but if it's good word starts going around and more and more join. Which one is TSW is yet to be seen because it's officially not even released yet.

Edit: Oh, and TSW early access has been amazingly smooth. Been in several MMOs at day one and this has been definitely one of the best experiences. It needs some tweaking here and there but so far absolutely nothing game breaking.

Insanely smooth launch. Most were worried about FC falling on their face; but they didn't!

Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
    Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2

Agreed. This has been the smoothest launch I have seen, and I have seen a fair few of them!

I've been having a really good time. I was down on Funcom until I saw some vids. They looked interesting so I pre-ordered. I've been playing all day. I decided to upgrade my account before they go down for maintenance. I think this game is going to give me some serious playtime.

Other than my issues with the patcher, so far launch has been butter smooth. Still in Kingsmouth but I haven't had a bugged quest yet. My only complaint is that my poor 6870 can't handle tessellation very well, but that's hardly Funcom's fault. Everything else is cranked up though, and the game looks great.
