WOAH! What happened to the ratings?

They all went down except some game called KAL online, which shot up.

EDIT: It's not just that KAL went up out of no where, it's that the rest of the games went down in ratings quite a bit at the same time it seems.

Just so people know what was going on, screenshot

The drop is pretty significant, GW from 8.4 to 8.1, EVE from 8.3 to 8.0, WoW from 8.3 to 7.9. I don't think it was just a small KAL fanbase. Kal went from like no where to 8.7.

Did they actually go down in their score? I'm looking at this KAL Online thing, it says its based off 20 votes or something so there isn't any actual distribution yet. A bunch of KAL fans probably got on and supported it. I'm not sure how MMORPG's system calculates those scores either.

    EDIT:
Aha hm, nevermind then. That is strange. I don't know how they could lose 3 points all the sudden.

There are only 20 votes cast on KAL Online. Compared to hundreds for the other titles

Its not just Kal though, like most of the other top games went down by atleast .2 .

Edit: change has been made, maybe multiple account and/or inactive account scores were taken out?

Well, the voting system is really screwy. It doesn't seem to matter how many votes there are, just the average vote score.

Lol, I noticed that when I logged-on just now.
Someone suggested having a minimum forum ranking to post reviews. I think this may be a good idea.

yeah every new game screws up the ratings. whe GW came out it started at 8.9 or somehting and then it pushed down all the other rates. When WoW came out ti did the same thing. GW and WoW are still over rated

Um it's not that, the game ratings just dropped a significant bit just out of no where. Somethings been done to however its all calculated. Ratings are starting to climb back up again, looks like the GW/WoW players have gone to work on KAL too ::::39::. (just a joke)

actually the Rating system is highly scientific. Its based on a learning curve (or a bell curve of sorts). In laymen and enigma terms, it is designed against a swarm of one certain mmorpg fans coming in and voting str8 10's.

While it may look like KAL is soaring up to ways of yonder in the mmorpg ratings it will soon settle back to its average score.

Matter of fact, I believe the bell curve has already kicked in. Guild Wars, EVE, and WoW are up there as top 3 now. Kal is at 7.6 now....about average to what it would be if a swarm of 3000 people came in and voted positively on it. ::::28::

Personally, Im really glad to see EVE way up there. I love it when a small company does great things. You know CCP only started with 5 developers when EVE was developed and in Beta?

Simply astonishing how well their development teams have kept the game not only alive, but growing. (And no...they're not paying me).

On the day GW came out WoW went froma 8.6 to a 7.6 in just one day.  Fanboys and game companies try to manipulate the ratings of all highly rated games.  But it dosen't make sense that 20 people voting for kalonline could drop 3 or 4 games that much.  It most likely is a messup on the rating system.  Unless another game company using thier employess did an attack on the top rated games by making multiple useer names and upping the rating of kalonilne to look like the cause of the drop.  Sounds like something SOE would do.

The tristan is the coolest ship in Eve, bar none IMO (the original avi of 3 of them flying in formation back when eve was in beta made me buy it). I just wish they'd used it for the assault frigate not the lame incursus...

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
