As you can see.. both EvE Online + Guild Wars are very leet games in every way and cannot compair them! But as you can all see EvE online has recently reached 2nd position and might soon be drawn with or maybe even beat Guild Wars in the MMORPG Rankings! Which game do you play... feel free to post comments!

How can you compare these games?
Eve is a mmo
GW is a online rpg
Eve is sci fi
GW is fantasy

The question is, can you decide for yourself?
scientology
The good thing about Eve, is that it is always being updated. The Dev team work very hard to ensure that people have new things to try all the time. As I don't play guild wars I can't comment on that. But, apart from that, they are two very different games and it is hard to compare that.
LOL your trying to compare a divsion 7 game (GW) with a division 1 game (EVE) obviously eve has about 6 thousnd times more content and is vastly superrior in all ways.
Finally, and end to WoW vs GW topics
Eve and GW are two games that occupy extreme ends of the (MMO)RPG spectrum. One is open ended, player driven, classless, leveless and subscription based, the other is a story & group based online f2p RPG. Both are superb in their own ways, and complement each other suprisingly well.
The interesting thing about both games is that they are based around PvP, rather than just having it tacked on as an afterthought. I think this has a lot to do with how each game is rated, people are easily bored by repetitive PvE whereas good PvP can last for ages. Both games are visually excellent, with Eve's graphics engine standing the test of time and GW's using some clever tricks to improve the quality.
I think where both games excel is in how the devs respond to the playerbase. Bugs, updates and future content is discussed openly, and even if they don't always fulfil deadline they set on patches they at least give reasons why. Both are willing to make balance changes if required, even if the playerbase is not in favour.
People can criticise Eve for being boring, or GW for being shallow, but in the end both are trying something new, not just copying the EQ formula. I only wish more games would think outside the box the way these two do.

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
Guild wars wish I had tried the 10 hour free trial before I bought the game,
It is, somewhat morbidly, refreshing.
omg how can you guys compare these games -_- GW is crap Eve is great
This is the most rediculous comparison I've seen yet
EVE: Subscription based. Open Ended. Player Driven Content. Player driven Economy. PVP WARS (200+ players on a side). Player ownership of entire sectors of space. Player driven faction. Faction has meaning. Full trade and crafting. Mining. Adventure. Constant FREE updates that come with the subscription. Is 100% Sci-Fi.
GW: Muliplayer Online FPS which isn't open ended. Has no real point to PVP and has no economy whatsoever. No player ownership of land/territory. Has no WARS just skirmishes. Is ARENA based. Is Fantasy Based.
Why are you even TRYING to compare these titles?????

Still in: A couple Betas
in your opinion.
I personally like both, i love the economy, art, atmosphere and gameplay in Eve, and I love the PvP, art, grouping and gameplay in GW. I was/am a day one'er in both games (WPE + beta as well for GW), and have seen them develop. I like the risk/reward in Eve, and the accessibility of GW. There are things I'd like to see changed in both games, Eve's PvP seemed (when I last played) to be about ganking as much as possible (due to 'no negative' modules like sensor booster and damage mods) and stations seemed a little poorly implemented, and GW.. well, most of the issues I had have been sorted by the recent Sorrows Furnace update. It still needs some form of auction house, and a better grouping interface.
Eve is a lot more complex, no argument there, but GW has complexity hidden beneath a very slick interface. The thinking behind builds needs to be top notch or you will get annihilated. A poor human group can be worse than NPC henchmen - using exactly the same skills. The NPC's in Eve have always been about 'cheating' stats rather than superior tactics, and that's one area where GW scores highly in comparison, as all the NPC's bar one or two use exactly the same skills as a player would (they can be higher level, but levels in GW don't mean that much).

I dont think the OP was being too serious, just making light of the fact that it's no longer WoW v GW at the top of the rankings. I just get a bit fed up with the unsubstantiated GW hate from people who have likely never tried it.
What is interesting is to see how the user ratings compare to the mmorpg.com ratings... soon it might be Eve v CoH (& CoV)...

They both bite.
When I played the GW Beta Weekend I was immediately turned off by the restrictive world unheard of in the MMORPG genre. It was like playing KOTOR in that regard. On top of that was that the game was entirely instanced.
I decided to try EVE because of all the hype on these boards. The slow paced, empty environment, with most game time going toward Hyperspacing from one spot to another was not for me. I just hate the sound of crickets in space.
Of course everybody has a different play-style and all "Vs" or "Which one is better" or "Tell me which game to play" threads are a complete waste of time.
There needs to be a forum just for these because they get way too many replies with too little attention paid to the worthwhile threads.
Too bad I never learned to practice what I preach.

This is just as bad as comparing CS to WoW. What are you thinking?!?
Well anyways...
I have a friend who likes Guild Wars better. For one thing it's free he says, he also likes being able to reach end game in 2 weeks so he can get straight to the PvP, he doesn't like PvP to be dependent on items or levels or anything other than the player behind the character. I don't think he's really much of an MMO player if you ask me.
Exactly why I chose EVE.
