They are sub-sections. By far the largest is London,, which is the social-hub. Seoul and NY are not particularly interesting at present state (though they both have a very real vibe). In other words, it's no GTA
To make ALL of New York it would take more vr room then any game world so far (imo)
That's true, but the parts are really small. New York was absolutely tiny. London was just really small. I noticed it pretty quick and it was a bit disappointing how small they were to me at least. I think this was what the OP was wondering about.
Are they like Queynos or Freeport in size no, alive like Cnet or Theed etc from SWG no, more like the size of the cities in Rift maybe a little smaller but not really social hubs besides London.
The towns where you actually quest feel about right. They're not large cities but they make sense.
The hub cities are only small parts. The lore explains why. London has a bunch of buildings you can enter. The others not so much. You don't really do much in the hub cities. They're not even real hubs. The real hub is probably the Agartha entrance, from a zone graph point of view. In other words, this game is not about London, New York, or Seoul.
My biggest complain about the cities is that ther is no traffic, no carrs and scooters and such moving around.
Yes, but this is also the case in the world at large as well. The only vehicles I've seen moving so far are helicoptor's flying overhead and um... bumper cars.
Yeah they are not massive.. but there is no need for them to be. Whats the point of having massive city areas when everything you need is in small location.. i.e. shops, npcs, zone portals.. why spread all that out..
You are in small cordoned off (hence why no traffic) area of your city.
It isn't about size. EQ2 had HUGE cities and all it meant was that they were mostly empty and you had to walk a lot.
People forget that HUGE cities are HUGE and not much fun, unless you like your commute.
Kingsmouth is the first small quest town you encounter and that feels just right.
Actually the main cities were dissapointing to me.
Seoul and NY are tiny...and i dont like that they used just some generic "district" in new york...could have easily put the games setting int he financial district with skyscrapers.
Not a fan of the iluminati HQ...its like some wierd techno layout in the sewers...would have pictured it to be some high rise with a front company on the ground level...its layout is confusing as well.
Also they made london the defacto main city...which is nice and all but mabey if they wanted all 3 factions to converge on one city they could have made a neuteral city and made it nice and complex...right now the cities are just a few blocks, and like in london, its like one street with the cloth vendors and bank right next to eachother and no reason to go there unless your a templar headed to the HQ down the road.
Luckily you dont really need the cities all that much, other than ocasionally heading to your factions city for the faction NPC's that calls you up ect.
Much would prefer a 4th neuteral city as a major hub...and with some complexity and a variety of shops/npc and things any faction could visit.
Initially i was very dissapointed with new york however...expecting the big city and city lights got some dumpy back road and a warehouse/sewer for the luminati HQ.

Its actually a real street in New York someone posted the pics up on the Funcom forums..think someone linked it on here earlier..

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

So your talknig about the starter city hubs?
Yeah they are not massive.. but there is no need for them to be. Whats the point of having massive city areas when everything you need is in small location.. i.e. shops, npcs, zone portals.. why spread all that out..
Now quest zones are pretty large and well sized..
