Hello MMROPlayers,
i haven't found a match for a Jumpgate-related thread and so i think it's time to start one.
I'm playing it since 2003 on the Mygthigames EU-Server first and, with the merge of US-Server and EU-Server, on the WWS (WorldWideServer) now.
To the Game:
Jumpgate is an MMORPGame in first person vision. Your character is flying thru sectors, chasing Conflux (our common ennemy), trading, mining, hunting "bad boys" or as a "bad boy". You character levels up depending on your initiative. You have to keep in eye your PR (Political Rating) with the 5 factions (3 player-factions and 2 npc-factions) for buying equipe and other stuff on stations. With the time maybe you want have your own PoS (Player Owned Station). Your character can join an existing Squad and follow their rules and gameplay or create his own one. The online community mostly consists of english and german speaking characters. Several chat-channels like a Help-, an only German-speaking-, whisper-, sector- and faction-channels are implemented. For US-PLayers there's the possibilty to test Jumpgate for 10 days with no charges (credit card owners only).
A few tips for new Players:
before you start have a look at http://jossh.com/flight_academy/quick_start.html. It tells you how to start in your first flight.
Keep an eye of the chat-window. There are a lot of informations from TRI (our leading Politicals) about sector activities.
Have a lok at the space-map. It shows you informations about conflux-swarm's and pvp-fight's.
Ask in-game for a mentor to help you survive the first time you are in-game.
Don't give up after your first PoD-ride, after all it won't be the last one and it's just a game:D
If you need further help ask Online-pilots, most of them, if they aren't to busy in their action, will help you as much as they can.

Yeah try canceling an account.Netdevil needs to update the billing process IMHO i cant stand it when i go to cancel a game account and its like pulling teeth with pliers.

Dont start a guild and dont be a leader or volunteer to be coleader or captain.
Just play the damn game:)
But EVE just like the rest of the other mmorpgs are nothing but a bunch of cookie cutter based mmo with just stat grinding, point and click to control yo player and a dice rolling combat system.
Eventhough the graphics are not the best, and if flying ships is not a desirable thing for you, then JG doesn't fit your personal gameplay.
Flying the a ship with your own flight skills, not stat based, is a huge plus in my opinion.

I been in EVE Online from the very first begining first Beta and
hm I think you need to Re value you knowledge about EvE Online to 0%.
However Jumpgate is a old nice space mmorpg been there

I do. Eventhough EVE online takes place in outer spa ce theres a few space trading privateer aspects like buying new ships and equipment. However, it still has the same old cookie cutter style gameplay just like any fantasy mmos in the final conclusion. Why not take a peek at other old or new space trading game reguardless of gameplay?
And don't over look it.
