Irth Online misses yet another release date. Keeps low profile to minimize gamer community laughter

OMG! That is funny. And certainly not much of an exageration. Likely, if it does see the light of day it will be 2007 but by then it will look even more dated than it does already.

Pfft, I never saw what was so great about Irth online anways.

Actually, I like the fact that someone is waiting until the game is finished before releasing it. I really hate putting down money for a broken product and then having to patch it. If Irth Online is guilty of anything, it's jumping the gun on announcing the game. If more companies would anounce a game just after developement but just before ship date, we wouldn't have so many people disappointed about this or that title.

Too bad the people over at NPCube cannot learn that mantra instead of going for this paid beta thing they are planning in November for Dark and Light.

    I miss DAoC

Why are you dissing DnL so much? Have you played it? Just wait until it comes out before you start bashing a game that you haven't played yet.

Nice way to hijack a thread. You dont even have to be in the games section to bash it. Pathetic.

the release date for a game is usually an estimated dats and does not include anything that could possibly happen to divert the course of the development.

It is better to release game when it is ready, instead of releasing it too early. I am not laughing them, I am respecting them that they are trying to get finished product to market.

I actually respect them more for that rather than if they'd make half arsed release.

Even DnL has been delayed several times now...nothing new here, move on.

Complaining about a MMORPG developer for not sticking to a release date seems rather silly to me.

What MMORPGs ever came out on the first specified release date?

Right. I never cared for the game since I had a horrid playing experience when I first tried it out, but they seem to be trying. I'm under the impression though that their company is a relatively green one in the business? How many people they have working on the project?

PS. The key here is not to give false release dates and intentionally or unintentionally lie to the public. Fueling public support may be found in methods elsewhere.

Perhaps they should change their mantra to:

"We have no idea when it will be done as we have no clue what we are doing. Maybe we should have started smaller, gain some actual professional game development experience first before trying to create the biggest and baddest game of all time."

The team is very small, around 30 people. They are trying very hard but because the team is small and they are privately funded and not under billion dollar funding from SOE or blizzard, unforeseen issues may cause delays...I hope they don't lynch me for this but the delay is to add missing features, revamp UI and the major reason...to fix the dreaded FPS issues

This game has gone LONG way in just several months, many of the matters you still hear about in these forums has been fixed and the dev team is working 7 days a week to ensure they will get the pressing matters fixed before they will release.

    And Press release DOES say:

This is expected to be the final Beta for Irth Online before its planned release in September

    NOT

This will be final beta for Irth Online and it will be released in September.

So I can't see how they would have lied by delaying.

and mmorpg.com takes their dates from press releases, they're not informed to them by devs.

I tried the beta, or I tried to try the beta rather. Game lagged to death, graphics were something out of a 5 year old's paint class. I cant belive they are still thinking of releasing this game, if it was a free download with a 5 year free subscription I still wouldnt waste the space on my hard drive for it.

And if they released it too early it would be savaged by the user community. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

  • ElnatorElnator Member Posts: 6,077

Personally I think this was a wise move on their part. I tried the beta again last week and they still have a lot to do before that game is ready.

As to whether it will actually see the light of day? Dunno... I don't consider ANY MMO that isn't released to be anything but Vaporware. Even well established companies don't always get their games to release on time. (Mythic cancelled Imperator as well, remember?)

Busting on a game company for delaying release so that they can release a FINISHED product is just stupid. You should be thanking them for sticking to their guns and not wanting to release an unfinished product rather than bashing them for having the courage to delay release.

Like I said, it could turn out to be Vaporware for all we know. But until it's cancelled there's no reason to bash a game company for delaying a release. Or has everyone forgotten how many times games like oh.. say... MechWarrior II took to get on the shelves? As I recall that one was delayed over 5 years.... and everyone who played it said it was a fantastic title.

From my experience most games that are delayed to make sure it's a quality product become a quality product if they get released. Granted many get cancelled and never get released but those that do typically are pretty good.

Yes, that is true about DnL. But let us all look at the current hype information shall we?

Irth Online  with 403 VOTES it has a 5.3 HYPE

Dark & Light with 2467 VOTES it has a 7.2 HYPE

Tried to try. Sent in to get a key, it never came; emailed to ask, never got a reply. Downloaded the game just in case, tripped my virus scanner as a virus. Nice. Frightening.

Some guy earlier tried to warn everyone about viruses from downloading the Irth Beta, but then the Irth devs came on to deny everything and threatened lawsuits against anyone who mentions that he got a virus from downloading the Irth Beta.  Here's the thread:

LOL Boris you never cease to amaze me. Every post you have ever made was to diss this game basically. What did they do to you, steal your life mate or kill a family member of yours? What game, if any, are you playing right now?
