WOW clone? No way.I'm feeling like playing more of an adventure game whitch grab my attetion to see what is going to happen next, than a familiar mmorpg.
I keep saying this lol but TSW for me is by far the best themepark MMORPG on the market and i dont see anything better coming out this year..
Far as themeparks go, you are very correct.
i'm sorry but as much as i like TSW, GW2 will crush this game
Hah!
It no doubt will crush it.
90% of the people who will play GW2 would not want to play TSW anyways. The quest system alone will send them packing..............Most GW2 players would think they are back at school or find it easier do their homework instead rofl.
Seems funcom always aim their games at the more advanced gamer, this time thy have done it with their quest system ;-)
I thought game was cheesy. Then I did one of the investigation missions. I dont think Ive ever had another game that challenging. Atleast MMO wise. Most mmos are all about combat, which is why people keep hating on this one.
I've been playing most MMO releases since years ago, and I have to say that the secret world is something different. Now of course I havent played to the end game, but im quite intreagued, and I'm more of the sandbox player. The different quest types and "the secrets" in the world are quite "pondered through".
I wouldn't recommend this game unless you enjoy spamming 1 button - that being your pbaoe move - especially in pvp. Everyone just zergs and the melee just spams the aoe spin move.. even in most pve you see it a lot. And I thought I had to hit spacebar a lot in swtor.... combat is just very poor and hard for me to look past that.. otherwise its a good game.

I used to think like you watching Arena in WoW. I had no idea what they were really doing

I know what they are doing - they're spamming their aoe - and it just looks like a clusterfuck of colored rings flying through the air as they zerg two or 3 enemies in pvp.

Maybe, maybe not....for me i like it its refreshing and something different. GW2 bores me although im still buying both,.
didnt sound too clever...i bought it before i was partially bored with it. We will see they are very different, i just got to take my hat off to a company that has the balls for something different.

Sounds like you are basing this on the PvP map stonehenge, which is indeed really, really crappy. You get points for holding the centre, so of course it'll degenerate into a no-skill AoE fest. Both El Dorado and Fusang are heaps better, especially El Dorado which personally is the best theme park PvP I've ever played in my life, and that says something for someone who used to be more into sandbox PvP and always hated minigames.
The point I'm making here is that you have no clue and only partly right. Stonehenge can't be used as any sort of comparison to anything.

Well I've seen it on boss fights as well in pve - it seems like anyone using blades just spams their aoe attack.
The ADD generation of multitaskers and headline news will not have the patience for TSW. This game makes you slow down, pay attention to the quest dialogue for hints, and think about the answers to quests. You CANNOT skip quest descriptions, spam abilities, and rush to endgame if you expect to enjoy this game. You need to use synergistic skills, pay attention to your environment, and think outside the box to get the most out of this adventure game MMO.
I agree Senadina.
This game is the first one since I first played UO that has drawn me in and won't let go for hrs at a time.Sure when WOW/Lotro and Rift released I played quite a bit,but not like this. The game makes you pay attention to the little details. It's about journey throughout and not feeling rushed.
It feels like they've mixed Myst or 7th Guest into an mmo and it worked.Hopefully they will continue adding a good amount of content and locales regularly.I think this is the sleeper hit of 2012,although I don't expect it to have huge sub numbers. One can hope though.
Now if we can just get people to stop giving spoilers/answers ingame in chat

Well Blade tanks are a possible exception because they have AoE builders that generate additional hate really early in the tree. The single target hate ones are a bit further down I think... so most of them just prefer to have the AoE hate and not have to switch between single and AoE builds in the starting areas.
So Blade and Hammer can do this for the threat. Guns can do this because they build resources on each target they hit with AoE builders (allowing them to tab around and burst damage things down with finishers.. it's why Guns are better DPS most of the time).

Actually I'm ADD and I'm loving it. The only problem is I'm spending far more hours playing than I should because the puzzle solving involved is grabbing my attention completely.
I've gotten so bad that I'm searching, and solving, every single quest I can find in each area before moving onto the next. And there's a whole lot more around than I originally thought.
Yea this game is incredible. Animations are a little rough but the story and quests are good thank the lord. Its amazing how fun a game can be when they actually put some effort into the storyline and make the quests/puzzles challenging and have them make sense.
I suspect PVP will be a whole different ballgame once teams of players start working together and feeding off of each others' skills. Right now most people still have limited skills and knowledge, and so spamming aoe's is a very effective and simple strategy.
A well co-ordinated team with a good skill selection is going to be a formidable opponent later, and will cut down random zergs with 2 or three times their numbers. Good synergy between the skills in your own deck are important, but in a group that synergy will be vital and very powerful if well designed.

That. Plus the fact that with 2 weapons and 7 ability limit you really have to think about which builders and finishers to use. Most (all?) weapons have ST and AOE builders and finishers... that would be 8 right there.
Different builds for different situations becomes a requirement. Heck at QL5 I already routinely use 4 (PVP, solo, single-target instance and trash-instance.)
And back on topic... I'm loving every minute of this game!

LOL, yeah, the negative comments here are really making me want to try out the game even more (just waiting till payday ).
Sick to death of games that hand-hold and spoon-feed. I want to be immersed in actually figuring out the PvE world around me, instead of it being always absolutely obvious what to do next. Horses for courses, plenty of room for all types of game.
From the sounds of it, this game is going to be a fairly successful niche game like EVE Online. Hope so, anyway, the industry needs to get out of this rut of WoW-worship and make games that are different and fun again, that find their own audiences.
Depends.. I played tsw during the closed beta and to me the game qas quite boring, felt like just the newest world of warcraft clone in a new skin, Combat was generally the same, same themepark-like content system, The game also says its level-less, but its really not. I can't seem to think why people think TSW is so good, my best friend plays it yet I am still unable to figure out how he finds it any fun or interesting, I've played it and watched streams and found ti quite boring.. Maybe I am missing something here?
If you're not into the horror/mystery/conspiracy theme then TSW won't deliver for you, I'm sure.
For me it really hit the spot. One of the best MMOs I've played.
If your first MMO was WoW then you haven't really ever played an MMO. Well that's not entirely true I guess, so I will digress. I forget WoW was actually an amazing game when it first released. That was before Blizzard massacred thier own creation very shortly after creating it. So sad...

Crush the game? why? they can not co exist together?
This is not rugby or soccer my friend. Take your competitve spirit to the stadium and go punch some fans of rival team or something.

This games so good, after a good 12 hours play time i'm still in the first zone because its so fun and I wanna finish everything/repeat some stuff.
One of the best MMOs I've ever played. Some of the best atmosphere and lighting too.
This :-)

And I agree about that this game requires you to read and think. More than we can probably expect from your average MMO Joe.
