"End game is a different monster to tackle. I think one of the biggest faults of MMOs today is that they create content for the players to consume, and when it's consumed, players never visit it again. Reusing the content in a clever way can make development cost lower, and player enjoyment bigger. Our game is slightly different from other MMOs since we don't have any level, and end game is a bit harder to define, but players will have plenty to do. All our dungeons are available in different difficulties, and some of them are insanely hard. This will only be for the best of the best. Also, in every zone the player has played through will have certain camps with monsters that were too hard for them to fight when they visited the zone for the first time. However, when they are strong enough, they can go back and whoop the monsters' asses. By doing this they will gather different puzzle pieces, which they can combine, and then summon forth a demon to fight. If they are successful they will get some nice gear, but a also another puzzle piece. If a player gathers enough of these puzzle pieces, they can summon the region boss, which is a huge baddie! Fighting these guys will require lots of players and very nice coordination. These guys will drop even better gear, but also a puzzle piece. These pieces are for the world boss, which is... Well... Let's just say you need to be a pretty frikking awesome player to tackle him...

In addition to all of this we have lots of PvP the players can have fun with. Everything from some quick action minigames, to persistent world domination PvP. We will also have social features like dance floors, a theater and bars to hang out in. We will also release our first raid, very shortly after release."

Nice find here, didn't know the details about the lairs that got presented here.

Sounds like you can do a lot of the endgame in paralell unlike WoW or AoC where you are usually banging your head against a single boss and only getting bruises as rewards.

I find it amusing with the people claiming the game has no endgame because they don't have a clue. ;)

Notice before the social features it says "will have"?

Like the tavern brawls in AoC... right.

As it stands there is the pvp youve already experienced.... thats about it.

OK, i got it. i know how Funcom can add endgame. They make gold quality gear. Not QL11, but 10 with rare gold instead of blue, green or purple. The ways to get it are:

    - A 9th dungeon that's 2 hours long that will be add 1 month from now.

    - Do 500 pvp macthes in both Stonehenge and El Dorado

    - Capture any control point in Fusang 1000 times (Anima Wells or Facilities)

    Is that endgame worthy image

Just wanted to point out ARG actually is an acronym for 2 similar but different things.

    1) as alluded too by an earlier poster is alternate reality game.  This I doubt as we don't have the technology to achieve an alternate reality game though things like kinect and move and wii were basic steps to the beginnings of such things.

2)Augmented Reality Game.  Probably the most likely.  This is where things in the real world are used to advance a game along.  Done well and using TSW as an example on what could be done the game could ask people to go to the real world places rendered in the game and search for something in the real world like an inscription on an exhibit in a museam or such and the facton can't move forward in the story until someone in the facton goes to that real world place and does what has to be done.  Or it could be as simple as going to a website and finding a clue in that that takes you to another website and so on and so forth until you get to the last website and find the answer there.  In other words alot of people in the faction are going to have to contribute to solving the puzzle so the faction as a whole can advance the story line.  Both those things sound ok.  Unfortunatly the Augmented reality game where the developer makes the most money is one where you buy a product and enter the barcode from that product and if enough people buy said product and enough barcodes get entered you advance the plotline like that.  Pretty easy to see how that can be monetised from the developers viewpoint so I guess it's not all rosey.  Fingers crossed for those of you looking forward to such things that it isn't used as a simple marketing device to get you to buy certain snack foods/soft drinks or order certain pizzas from a certain pizza place.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

There is nothing more dangerous than a true believer.

Soon to be f2p -> secret world.

"Funcom's Q1 results, released on 25 May 2012, revealed an operating loss for the quarter of $6.14 million on revenues of $2.29 million. However, these losses were related not only to falling usage of Age of Conan but also development and marketing costs for The Secret World" -Forbes

Wonder who's going to support the servers ....

You're entire post proves nothing.  CEO didn't step down.  He chose another position within the company with some sweet stock benefits included.  Stepping down refers to him resigning, which he didn't.  He got a new job within the company.

    Nice try though.

I think people are cursed with endgamitis. Yes - cursed or infected. Just login and play a game you like, and when you stop liking it. Stop playing.

What about the journey over destination? Do you dully sit all the way through a movie just to watch the end credits and listen to the tertiary soundtrack?

Asking about the endgame before playing, dismisses any heart the developers put into something for however many years they worked on it.

I can see where maybe you don't want to spend 100+ hours to have it come to an end, but everything ends. Or maybe people just want a reason to play devil's advocate? Oh that game don't play that game, it sucks. That store it sucks, that movie - sucks. Your car - sucks

I don't know about end game in TSW - if it's same, better, or even worse than any other MMO that is fine to me. I am in it for the path, not the fabled pot of gold under a unicorn rainbow.

I do know getting all of your decks will initially take a lot of time, and speed up as you complete due to associations between them. The few people who can say they finished everything in a MMO will be the few. Consider that recent stat on new Hitman game, they (developer) only expect 20% of purchases to even complete it. That is pretty sad. :p

You may be right, but i find i really sad when somebidy takes such a dedication to wanting a game to fail and watching it. Don't see what you or anyone gains from it. But you're probably more concerned with talking about video game financials and economics than being out there and actually having fun playing them.

See, you talk about fail this, f2p that but players are too busy, well, being video game players. At least i am.

TSW already have the starts of something like that. I've done at least two quests where I had to visit a website of a fictitious in-game company (real websites created by Funcom that have no hint on them about not being real companies) to get the information I needed to continue the game.

What can men do against such reckless hate?

Thats is a problem of all modern MMO. Lvl cap, race "fist to lvl X", players themself turning MMO into race from A to B. And then complaing about and game ((((

Tsw offers a bit diffrent way .

More themepark rides reserved for "endgame" could never hurt.

My biggest concern was the released "zones" not being enough as well as not enough unique "rides" at the end.

Very surprised with Fusang working however...didnt see that working out as well as it did.

After some time playing im neither rushed to progress nor concerned with a spammible endgame.  My thoughts are the pvp might look more itneresting once im able to do hardmode dungeons and have solved most the mysteries and fleshed out a few decks.  Im progressing very slowly however, and liking it that way...so this isnt going to be an issue for me for a few months..mabey more.

Im sure those wacky scandanavians have a few tricks up their sleeves planned for endgame stuff though.
