Awseome, grats to him!
We have been playing these things since forever, and this was our goal!
Adding a monetary value to something like that kind of split us apart.
I have a well paid job, my friend does not.
In every game that I have ever played, to date, that means nothing.
Until now.
How can I ask my friend for this crazy weapon?

You don't ask him for it.
like "Hey my friend, can you play Paranoid with it?" oh its not that good after all.
Let's internet
Let's see if I've got this straight. You're friend found what you believe is a weapon worth 1100$ and you are trying to figure out how to talk him into giving it to you? If I have that right, your definition of "friend" might not be the same as mine, nor our definitions of "worth".
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
You should ask your friend for his log-in information, then act surprised when he says it is missing.
No no no .. the RMAH is limited to $250.
1100 means 1100 dps .. which is quite high, depending on what other stats r there.
That would definitely make more sense. His mention of "monetary value" threw me off.

Actually, asking him for that weapon is very easy.. just use the words "I'll give you as much as it would sell for in the AH"..
What can men do against such reckless hate?
Offer him 6 200 DPS weapons! 6 x 200 = 1200 > 1100! So he comes out ahead!
George Carlin said it best: I Never slept with a “10, ” but one night I slept with five 2s """!)
Why would anyone want that wappen, you cant play GW2 with it, can you?
(sorry, just could not resist writing the first thing that came to my mind)
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Buy him a case of beer for it.
Now that is how you do the RMAH right!
If he was a real friend, he'd just give it to ya. Why would you need to ask? I play with 4 of my friends and we all share loot. If its an upgrade I'd happily give it to them, and they'd do the same for me. Its not like I'm going to keep the item forever and sell it for myself. Whenever I get better gear to replace it, I'll just give it back. I've known my friends since high school years when we played Diablo 2 together, so we're pretty close.
We're in it for the fun, Diablo 3 is going to stick around for a long time whether people like it or not. Gear up and when you can do act 3 and 4 solo, then farm and sell for money.
1100+ dps is not necessary good, it depends on what weapon type it is. I found 2 1200+ dps staff from act 1 inferno, but those only worth little because staff are slow and generally has less stats than a 1h + source. Also the prices varies greatly if it has a socket in it, as well as life on hit or critical hit damage. I found a 1h dagger with only 900 dps with socket + life on hit, that worth many times more.
You dont ask for it. You encourage him to put it on the RMAH. Because he could probably use the money.
Then if you want it, buy it since you will have the inside scoop just when he puts it on there, if you want it bad enough. Be a friend. Let him have it and profit off it if he wants too.
It's simple. Diablo 3 is not worth your friendship. Easy as that.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
nvm
Our group links all items found, and we call out if an item is an upgrade, and if so, it is thrown on the ground for the other to pick up. It is also our standard practice that the upgraded item is thrown out as trade to the person giving the upgrade.
If you guys are friends, its a non-issue, tell him you'd like to use it until you find better.
Heh, that sounds like some of my redneck distant cousins. They'd do a days work for a 24 pack of cheap beer...crazy.
What happens when you log off your characters????.....
