looking for a MMORPG

rexbloodrexblood Member Posts: 4

I've played some mmorpg's over the years, most have become outdated/too boring or require too much cash shopping to really enjoy the game and to matter in pvp.

So at the moment i'm trying to find an mmorpg that's balanced on pvp level and where i can grind to have the same rewards as when i would've cash shopped. I'd like it to be open world to some extent, as in that i can travel over the world but dungeons etc can be instanced, but not like vindictus where you have loading screens for small areas with very little mobs -.-'

Besides that things i like is customisation, preferably in skill points(dex/str/int for example) or skills and a storyline. Now the storyline doesn't need to be very far going, but sort-off like the anarchy online/ace online would be good, you have a general idea of what's going on in the world and how your actions will affect everything going on.

MMORPG's i played:

Atlantica online

Anarchy online

(ace online, sorta mmorpg i guess)

Thanks in advance for your answers

Well...you kind of have a lot of requirements to be honest.

Have you tried Rift?  It meets most of what you are looking for it.  It is a sub and not free to play, but I thought the PVP was rather balanced and fun.  Definately a good deal of customization.  I just can't say I get into the story line that much, but I know some people who did.

First off, I will just point out the obvious that any game that lets you min/max the stat variations is *never* going to have balanced PvP. That is the kind of game that caters to a volatile 'crit' build - impossible to put in a tier. Anarachy Online had amazing class and skill structure, but balanced it was not - you should know why.

So you really just need to choose if you want something actually balanced, or something with far more customization options.

If you are looking for at the fantasy genre, I can gladly recommend Everquest 2! The game is HUGE and got tons of stuff to do! You can do PvE, PvP, Dungeons, Raids, Explore, Craft, make Dungeons, Housing and much more!

Right now, I can't find a better game until Guild Wars 2 comes out. The cash shop does not give you advantage against other player, BUT they can buy fluff items and look cooler than you ;)

The game also have deep character customization with 320 so called "AA points", that you put out in your skill tree. The gear is also dex/stam/ag style, which you are looking for.

I suggest you to download the streaming client, so you can start play in 10 min. Then pick the a server (Freeport is the biggest server and the one I am playing on) and make a character. Some classes/races are locked for F2P players, as the gear and money amount. This can easily be fixed with buying "one-time-Silver-status" which gives you some extra benefits or going Gold, which gives you all benefits!

Anyway, download the game, try it for free for some days and if you like it, then subscribe!

If you pick Freeport server, then make a call to Sulfury, my character!

Have a nice day and good luck! :)

I have the exact game you are looking for! You will absolutely adore this game! DarkEden, play as a vampire, you get 3 attribute points in str/dex/int every level and you chose which one to put it in. It might be confusing at first but it really is aunreal game and it has everything you asked, the world is relitavely small which means if you are grinding there is a good chance you will have to pvp against the opposite factions when you meet.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have already played this game, loved it and are looking for a game similar becuase your post basically screams out darkeden.

If your wanting to stay F2P- Fallen Earth, Lord of the Rings Online, EQ2, Star Trek Online, Age of Conan, D&D Online and Aion are all decent games, if a sub is ok I would suggest trying Rift, WoW both are free to lvl 20, Star Wars,Eve...there are alot of MMoRPGs with varying degrees of character building, it really comes down to a matter of taste.
