If you could combine any MMO???

If you could take elements from any existing MMORPG and mold them into one game , what would you take?

Me:
FFXI/WOW

I would take the combat system , great solo play , GUI , PVP , and easy grind from WOW and combine it with the graphics , job system , depth ( Storyline ) , economy , and controller use from FFXI. This in my opinion would be the perfect MMORPG.

What do you guys think?

Shadowbane(RTS elements: Sieging/Resources/Etc) with WoW(Like the interface and Lore)
Warcraft after all has deep roots in Real Time Strategy so if they were to make certain zones to allow for players to build and siege bases, I think that would be great fun.

World of Warcraft: Gameplay, Graphics and the casual approach
Eve: The player control, dynamic nature of the game
    Saga of Ryzom: Weather

The Saga of Ryzom + Anarchy online would be cool.

Asheron's Call 1: the lore, the world, the creatures, the monthly updates, the big quests, the changing seasons, the ability to increase the height you can jump and the speed you can run, the player housing system, the sheer volume of loot, the soloability, and the character advancement system.

Saga of Ryzom: the skill/stanza system, the dynamic wildlife, the creatures themselves, the customer support team, and the artwork.

SWG: the character creation appearance sliders, the creature handler profession, and the old entertainer professions.

Everquest: the cities and the faction system.

    Horizons: the crafting.

I'd take a class system similar to WoW. They're fun to play and quite diverse. Unfortunately, no skill-based system in MMOGs has satisfied me enough, although Saga of Ryzom and EVE Online have an interesting system. But EVE's cannot work properly if you want a progressive PvE experience.

The world of Neocron. By far, the best cyberpunk world I've ever seen. I love the atmosphere in NC, the graffiti, the diversity from middle-class areas and lower-class areas, etc.

The instances of Everquest 2. They're storyline driven and contain triggered events. For example, Deathfist Citadel, Crawler's Nest, Nektropos Castle, etc.

    Currently playing:
    * City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
    * City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.

    UO: Skill system
    SWG: Crafting & Market
    SWG: Character & NPC Graphics
SWG: Variety of wearable items, including NON-ARMOR items for Roleplay.
SWG: Player Housing, City and Political System
    Ryzom: Skyline/Environmental graphics
    EQ2: Flora/Fauna/Ground graphics
EQ2: Quest/Mission System - No other game even comes close to the quality of quests and storyline in EQ2.
EQ2 or Ryzom or SWG: Combat System: I have yet to see one I really feel is superior for combat... most MMO's have their own style and most have been pretty decent.
EVE: Security method of handling PVP... not a "RVR" environment but not a true "open PVP" either... more of a blend.
EVE: Destruction of player owned facilities in "0.0" space.

WORLD: ZONELESS!!! God I'm so sick of zone-lines and 'loading' screens. With today's server technologies moving from one cluster to another should be transparent to the player. I don't mind instances for quest content but for everything else the game should be zoneless and non-instanced. If I want to play in an instance I'll play on Battlenet!

Style Preferred: Fantasy or Sci-Fi or even a Blend... doesn't matter if the game is good enough.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

EQ2 for budget, marketing and brainstorms about expension.

CoH: For the core of the game.

SoR: For solo fine tuning, even if not that solo oriented, it has everything a good soloing system needs.

WoW for the PvE server system with PvP options.

DAoC: For the choice to play on servers protected from any bad expension.

    Hmmm...

Might as well start from nadda. image

Agreed! To add though, a pre:r UO 3-d game would be nice. Specifically for PK reasons. The only thing I ever hated about pre:r UO was the fact that you could not do sneak attacks while PKing (with the exception of invisibilty) because of the view. A 3-d environment (without the lame radars) would be awesome because you could sneak up from behind and BAM!

    CoH - Character Customication

    WoW: Idiotproofing
    EQ2: Expansive Towns
    EVE/Ryzom: Dynamic Worlding
    Ryzom/Horizons: Crafting
    FFXI: Graphics
    CoH: Toon Customization
    DAoC: RvR
    Planetside: Battle System
    Lineage 2: Female Toon Hotness
    Guild Wars: Enviorment
    CoH/Ryzom: Emote System
    Shadowbane: Sieging
DAoC: Server Stability (That I remember from back in the day)
    SWG: Multi-World System
JumpGate: Newtonian Physics (That I remember from back in the day)

Now THAT would be a game.

Runescape: all the immature preteen bastards, that really should be in school anyway, clogging up the landscape.

Knight Online: a complete lack of english speaking players and a grouping system that only gives extra XP to the group leader.

The Sims online: all the stuff that worked offline but seemed to not work in an MMO

Ragnarok Online: The endless grind and complete lack of quests

UO: The interface!! God I just love opening and closing all those poorly organized windows that obscure game world view and prevent me from seeing that really f**king huge monster heading my way.

EQ: Needing to be a certain level to go on the next quest in your class. If I'm going on an adventure, I want to EARN it goddamnit!!!

AC1: A magic system that was just completely overpowered that playing any non-magical class would be a waste of time.

AO: outrageous prices for items that really don't benifit you at all. Throw in the piddling mob drops and I'm in heaven.

I think that just about covers it. THAT my friends would be the ABSOLUTE BEST in the genre. No really.... I mean that...... En.... stuff.......

You forgot AO's issues with ATI cards and overheating. ;-)

Content/Sound - Intellevision Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.  All of those mountains to explore plus the sound of snoring dragons when you get close.

Graphics/Quests - Atari2600 Adventure.  You are a square with an arrow for a sword and the dragons look like ducks!  Cool "created by Warren Robinette" dot quest.

Toons/Tunes - Coleco Venture.  A big advance, no longer are you a square with an arrow sword but a smiley face that can shoot arrows!  Cool music.

Variety/Storyline - BASIC program Cave.  Literally hundreds of possibilities (well, almost a hundred).  Plus you could actuall type "list" and see the coding of the program.  100 REM Created By: (put your name here).

Travel - TI994A Pirate Adventure.  Travel to an island from your apartment.  Build your own boat!  Say Yoho!

If you know all of those references, you are old school.

Sadly.... I do know all of those references. Although you forgot to include the BRILLIANT economic model of "Lemonaide Stand" for the Apple II.
