It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
It's official - you can get now free basic accounts for Second Life from Linden Lab.
There is no excuse to register now Note that you'll still need a credit card to join - that's one of the ways they check if you already have an account or not (you can only have 5 per credit card) as well as determining if you're going to be redirected to the Teen Grid or the Adult Grid.
Anyway, it's great news for those who felt that US $9.95 was really too much

That's super, I guess. Not alot of people around here like the sort of There or Second Life MMO's. I've been called a pasty face geek with no life on here because i've talked about There. I guess its not many people get the Metaverse idea...
There
The only limitation in There is your own imagination!
Indeed - you're very right! I believe that at least a third of all people who join one of those "metaverse thingies" leave, simply because they need people to define their goals and objectives - they're unable to set their own goals.
This is sad, I think, but it's all part of the brand new frontier we're opening up Not everybody is a pioneer...
What I'm always sorry about is seeing people log in, wander around aimlessly during an hour or so, and ask everybody around "hey, what can we do here?". My early answer to that was: "whatever you wish! You have complete freedom to do whatever you like!" This befuddled them, they eventually disconnected and posted on all possible forums "how this game sucks because there is nothing to do and how the companies are scamming you".
Well, of course that happens because they expect to pay to be entertained. Fortunately now, they don't pay This means learning that in the Metaverse, you don't "pay a company" to get entertainment in return - but you provide your own entertainment, or, as an alternative, pay other users to get entertained by them. This is a rather radical approach, and, as said, not everybody understands it.

Hello,
i have a question, i need a credits card from the free account?
or can i use paypal with banktransfer?
By trying to register a new name, I found out that you really need a credit card just to join - that's the way they can confirm your identity - but you can pay with PayPal later, if you decide to upgrade to premium.

Hehe - I really don't know, ST-125. In my country, I can only use bank transfer to get money from PayPal to my bank account - but not the reverse. So I never tried.
However, it doesn't hurt to ask, and I've just done that So, as soon as I get a reply from the support people, I'll post it here

Thx,
I play Star Wars Galaxies and i use Bank Transfer...
whynot in Second Life?
ST-125 - I'm sooooooooo stupid :P
After all, when you register a new account, you can go straight into selecting PayPal as payment option!
I was just silly and missed that dropdown. Someone just posted a snapshot on the (internal) SL forums showing the PayPal option and I went "wait, this is not what I've got..." I rechecked again, found out that yes indeedy, there is a dropdown with a payment option for PayPal right at the beginning... and it works as expected Yay!
So, the answer to your question seems to be "yes". Why don't you try it out? Remember, basic accounts are free anyway, they'll only need that verification to check that you "exist". I guess it'll work fine!
Happy new account creation :-)

Look,
i havent any credit cards... i can only pay with bank transfer
Well, I've got good news for you, ST-125. I've checked and rechecked, and when you log in the first time to create your account and use PayPal as the payment option, it clearly states then that you can use a "bank account"-based PayPal account.
So, there is nothing to stop you now :-)

THX
but when i push PAYPAL and not Credit Card, i come to an new window.
Left stand: If you are not member of paypal click here plz.
and
Right stand: If you are a member, push here.
And im a Member...
And another question:
I dont actualy me Bank Account by Paypal.
and when i register in second life, i cant push bank transfer, only credit card....
BUT IF I ACTUALY ME BANK ACCOUNT, can i use it?
I think I don't understand you So, if you're already a PayPal member, you just need to sign in with your PayPal's ID and password. The rest is automatic... Linden Lab doesn't care how your PayPal account is set up
You can't use your bank account directly in Second Life's payment options - you have to use it through PayPal. Is that your question?
There shouldn't be a problem with using PayPal that way...
