i see so many people with names that dont really mean anything to me but they sound cool and im like "what does that mean for them". iM extremely fussy about names and ive quit many games because i got annoyed with my name (yes it is stupid). ive never come to a name i like/can stick with. im just asking, what does you name mean and what should i use in a name? like should i mix my name with something or what? basically im asking how to make a username i can stick with and maybe a couple of examples.

I've been using the same 3-4 names in basically every game, ever.
Half of them are homages to things from other games, some are just cool sounding and fit the aesthetics of whatever character I choose to make at the time, and sometimes I am in a funny mood and just make up a joke name that would make people lol upon first contact.
I've not going to just GIVE you any ideas, though. You need to step up and figure it out.

I don't know. I've never used the same character name twice.
Over the years my taste in names has changed. When I first started playing mmorpg's I used names that I would were suitable to the race of the character. Then I went through a period of silliness which RPG purists would hate. Now, I no longer care. I could let my dog walk on the keyboard and use whatever comes out.
There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.

It's simple:
Latin roots
random name. Look at sentance from book, remove all vowels. then take two letters from every word. Insert vowels and trim the name down. 3 mins for: veitag, this is a pretty unrepeatable name.
Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

I wonder, was it always that weird here on mmorpg.com or is there something in the water the last couple of days?
Listen, a name is a name is a name. For every person a name is, well, personal - none of _our_ advices, ideas and experiences is useful for _you_, because you have a completely different attitude towards names than we do.
For me a name is just a set of letters that doesn't mean anything, but feels good. Feels proper. For example, Grahor. What does it mean? Nothing whatsoever. But it sounds, you know, rough, simple, and yet unusual. In writing, it's somewhat round, and yet there is a bit of roaring in it, as if annoyed bear transfers his displeasure to the whole forest. It goes well with my avatar and my self-image.
It took me whole 30 seconds to think of this name. I'm using it for 15 years already.
When I want to make, say, and orc, I'm using the name Targ. Seems like an orcy kind of name. Second character gets a variation with "targ" in it. And so on.

Since I play games in the fantasy genre I use names from my fantasies (daydreams). The one I use the most is Daerthe. I borrowed that from Forgotten Realms.
So whatever you day dream about, use that. Like if you fantasized about beating the lead basket ball player in a game make a girl character and name her Baskets. Or a male char and name him Hoops.
It's no big deal. No one really cares that much about anyone else' s char. Everyone is selfishly focused only on themselves and their chars and "look at me!" "Look at me!" "See what I can do!"
Honestly, everyone is so self focused they'll never notice anyone else but themselves so you're safe so long as you don't name your character something like ILikeBigButts.
Stop overthinking it. Customizing your character is supposed to be fun. If you're resorting to asking advice on forums for this sort of thing then you're just thinking about it too much. Pick a name you like and then forget about it.

Why did Marceline's dad eat her fries? I mean...cause she bought them and they were hers...
I have pretty hardcore ocd. To the point of not playing certain games or using certain services if I can't get a handle or username I want. I seek perfection from what I dedicate time to and the name I desire is part of my personal perfection.
I tend to have the same problem in single player RPGs. I guess Final Fantasy games have moved away from letting you rename the characters (since they address each other by name in cutscenes) but in any RPG where you get to rename the characters, I prefer to choose a new name for them and agonize over the decision. In MMOs it's not as much of a problem because I tend to keep using the same two names. I don't have any tips for how to choose a name other than to spend a while brainstorming on the character creation screen once you know what your character looks like.
I pretty much always use diffrent name in each mmorpg UNLESS setting is very similar and I play same race, etc
No idea tbh - I just quickly explore game's world lore and / or genreal fantasy if game's fantasy looking for names.
If you really can't come up with a name of your own, pop into your local bookstore and pick up any of the generic fantasy / historic novels on the shelf. The back pages will sometimes contain lists of characters, even genealogies of families. Pick a few out that you like the sound of, modify as necessary and use whichever is available on your server. If the race of your character has an obvious root, e.g. Nordic, Celtic etc then google up a baby-names website for that culture for inspiration.
I like historical or movie figures, like SW:TOR my Gunslinger is Wyat'Earp. Would've named him John'Wayne but it was taken
Most people won't get it, but it seems to fit the bill.

I only use two character names, depending on the gender of my character. If it's a male, it ends with "o" and if it's a female, it ends with "a."
Anyway, my character name is just merging the acronym of my name and our native language's translation for "cheese" since my name sounds a bit like it. It definitely doesn't have any meaning to anyone else except me, which makes it unique.
