It sounds interesting. I loved Marvel Ultimate Alliance so if they take a cue from that game this could be a winner. I just hope that since this is an action rpg they'll support gamepads. I'd much rather play action rpg style games with a gamepad than point and click.
Marvel is my all time favorite Universe of heroes and i was so excited about this game untill i read this article..... let me paraphrase a statement from David Brevik...
"its a point and click game, sorry WASD fans, screw you"
thanks for that Gazzillion, enjoy your crappy game.
tahts the only reason i wont ever touch any diablo and diablo clones. Whats going on with all these developers not giving the option to players on how to control the effing game.
If i could play a PC game without a mouse i would unplug the dang thing from my pc. Dont force me to control my game and my character with a damn mouse. Or be smart and add both options............JEEZ another most wanted mmo flushed down the toilet.
I totally agree. One of the reasons I LOVED City of Heroes was because of how great the control was. It had both WASD and click to move and click to move was disabled by default.
While the game does look like it could be fun I am still hoping on a more true superhero MMORPG, where it's obviously about superhero's but like every superhero we know they have alter ego's. There is so much a gamecompany could do with a superhero MMORPG, instead of these multiplayer superhero games we already have.
But perhaps it's to complicated to actually impliment a system where you are able to lets say be a Peter Parker and are able to do things that your alter ego could do but is able to switch into Spiderman for example.
So from what I saw and read so far, it seems that they took the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 game and made a MMO out of it so more than 4 players can play together at the same time. ^_^
Except if only a party of 4 is available cause that would mean that it is exact the same system with the difference that the lobby or so called instances can hold more than 4 players in them.
Still looking forward to it cause I loved the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 game and the possibilities it brought with it.
I am looking forward to this, People keep saying no custom characters sucks but I dont see a problem with it at all. I think it sounds like it is already leaps & bounds ahead of CO and DC Universe so it should be great.
On the topic of multiple copies of a character running around: I'm not sure how they'll handle it in this game, but in their kid-friendly Super Hero Squad game, each player has to pick a different character when in queue for a mission. Sure, both players can HAVE Wolverine, but it'll only let the first person to choose him bring him into the instance.
Of course, it considers "Wolverine" and "Street Clothes Wolverine" to be different characters and allows them both.
"...You'll be left-clicking to move and attack, and right-clicking or hitting one of the A, S, D, or F keys to activate one of your four active powers."
Say it isn't so, Gazillion!!! Click to move and WASD are so inefficient. Please allow for the ability to move strictly with mouse, without having to repetitively click on each spot we want to go to.
Movement should simply be done by preferrably holding down the left mouse button and steering and/or dragging the mouse.
If it's done similar to Diablo III, then that won't be too bad, but I'd prefer to be able to move forward by holding down the left mouse button and steering with the mouse, as I do with every MMO-style game I play.
Also, you could still get away without TAB-targetting by holding down SHIFT to click on enemies, similar to the way you halt movement in Diablo III. I just really don't want to have to click, click, click a thousand times!
I've been following this game for a while, despite the overall lack of information so far, and I'll say that I'm still quite interested in giving this game a go.
Nice write up, with a lot of really good information about the game.
Love Marvel, and I've been looking forward to a good online Marvel game, so....
On the fence. Not into diablo action RPG. Not into click to move. Wish there was a more traditional MMORPG with the Marvel License along the lines of DC Universe but from a Marvel perspective. Still believe opportunity lost, but will try it out when released.
Wanting a Marvel MMO that is a reskinned Diablo clone is not on my list. The fact I read that Wolverine doing a whirlwind attack just bothers me. I was more hoping to see him jumping around slashing with his claw than see him being a ballerina. Guess I will just have to see if I feel like I can play any of the heroes when it comes out and it not feel like an arcade game. Doesn't much like what I was hoping for but wishing it luck and it does what the majority want it to.
He was pretty spinny in Marvel vs. Capcom games. Still a bad ass ;p
I understand that. But it is bad enough seeing 50 Wolverines running around but on top of that having his abilities look like the standard cheap done for 20+ years spin then it kinda puts me off the game. I am afraid what my fave character will play like. Not sure what they will do with Cap and his shield. Reading the comics and seeing him sling the shield and be in position to get it back after hitting multiple bad guys/walls/floor and keep going is what I think of with him.

Marvel Mutants (X-men, etc) don't have alter egos. Thats kind of a DC thing save for spiderman and a few others.
They should make the PvP similar to DoTA but with a new twist. Marvel has enough heroes for that sort of pvp game .
looks epic fail. same tired game play with marvel mesh. completely lack of ingenuity. marvels lame attempt to cash in on thier marvel characters by delivering a subpar game. skip !

I want to play as Rogue or Storm. Give this a try because i havn't played a decent x-men game for a while now. Where are you X-Men Legends 3?!
Click-to-move ruins it for me. I will not play an MMO without auto-run

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Looking at the screenies makes me wonder how soon every single Marvel title will read "Wolverine and ________"

Waiting on: Guild Wars 2
Looks good, sounds good. Will check it out and give it a fair assessment.
