The 19th of this month shadowbane is starting up a lore server!
I can't wait for it to open... how about everyone else?!
I just hope lots of people come to try out the game for the first time with the opportunity of a fresh start...
If you don't know what shadowbane is, it's the best pvp game out there!
Stroll on over to www.shadowbane.com and download the free trial from gigex (really easy to download) and use the cd-key provided on the trial page, get some practice on test server to figure out how to play and then on the 19th come join!!
I want enough people on that I can kick some ass and take names! In all seriousness, it's just a great time to try out the game or come back to it to see the changes... New servers are a TON of fun for the first couple of weeks, and the 14 day trial should be just enough time for anyone new to figure out if they like it...

I'd rather have a private server. Maybe then the admins would fix the damn bugs in the game.
Give em a chance... its only been 2 years...
Look at SWG they still havnt fixed that...

Look at DAoC.. they cant even handle a 100 vs 100 battle, they have to teleport players out of the area..
and WoW created 20/50 man instances, to avoid the MMO in there RPG...
I got a free trial for shadowbane - two actually and ran them at the same time cos I was told that would be easier. Its not too hard to level and there are a heap of people playing it....folks can be a bit unfriendly but I think thats probably cos its a pretty mean pvp game. I think it kicks ass, especially the diversity of characters you seem to be able to make - theoretically by multiplying the available options I got it to be somewehre around 500 uniquely individual characters. I dont know about the lore thing but folks seem pretty hyped about it so its gotta be worth something.
shadowbane can handle 100 on 100 battles as good as the best of them, but no other game has true risk like shadowbane's wars... if you like to put everything you have on the table when you fight someone else, shadowbane rocks.
It's very easy to steal other people's millions, but it's just as easy for them to steal yours as well.
Ever wanted to rob a person? Burn their city down in defiance?
No other game does it better than shadowbane.
yea, but there's so many glitches in their code that shoulda been fixed by now. It's oen thing if it's a PvM game. It's another when it's a PvP game, and the glitches cause MAJOR disruptions in the gameplay.

You obviously haven't played the game much :P
To the guy saying people have played the game much, I would agrue when was the last time you played? I think alot of the bugs from release and last year have been fixed. Sure its not perfect but it is alot better bug wise then it used to be.
All in all the game is fun, its even more fun when you have more people playing it. Whats it going to hurt to try it out again for the 25 day trial that fileplanet is running? This game still beats any pvp game out there, even the ones in beta.
I used to subscribe, back when it first came out. I played it for 6 months till the bugs ruined the game. About a month or 2 ago, they turned my account back on for free for like 15 days. The game was still buggy as all hell, and to boot, they didn't support my video card, even though it was far better than others they had on there, but worse than the top end ones (I have a Radeon9200SE). So yea. It's still buggy as hell, and well, I'd rather they release the code to the server, or at least license it at a fair price, than open up another server.
You dont have to dual box to be competitive. Every group can use 1 or 2 priests, and 1 or 2 bards yes, but they do more if they are a live player instead of a bot. 10 real players vs 5 real players with bots in there group, the 10 people will win every time.
My guild usually drags atleats 1 bot around in a group (usually a priest), but its more of a burden than anything, have that priest buff the whole group (buffs in SB are 1 cast GROUP spells, unlike other games), and leave it behind as bait. Its not as big of an impact as in say, DAoC.. and hell the buff system is better than WoW. In WoW you either get a 3rd party program to help you keep your group buffed or you have to rember to rebuff them every 5 - 15 min, which is tedious.

I run Shadowbane on an intel chipset in an older notebook and it runs fine. Turn down the refinement range to 0, and most everything else (refinement is a biggy for older Radeons like you have). Hell that card would choke on most newer games out (WoW, DAoC, EvE, etc), and some of thoes games dont allow you to "turn things down" so you get STUCK with 1 fps... Get a better card or play games on low settings, thats the only options you would have. "SB Config" is on the patcher next to "My Account".
State the bugs please, I fail to see what your talking about anyway.
Ok, lets inform you on what I've played with this setup. WoW on full everything, no (system) lag, EQ2 (with minimal lag), Eve (lag while in jumpgates only), DAoC (full settings, no lag). They all offered tech support for my card as well. Shadowbane did not offer support, and it CRASHED every time I would zone. All they told me was "buy a new vid card". Wow. If I HAD the cash for a new video card, don't you think I'd get it? Well, maybe with the $15/mo I'm saving not subscribing to their game I can.
My point is this. Their code is poor, with rampant abusable bugs. They don't support Mid-range video cards (yet they'll support 5 year old ones), and their customer service/tech support is severly lacking (took them 5 days to tell me to buy a new video card). I wish they'd pull a horizons and go bankrupt, hand over the reigns to a new company. Or maybe license it, OR someone makes an emulator and fixes the problems on their own.
They never told me that, and I really dont think they would tell ANYONE that. I had a "bot" pc before getting my notebook, and it had a Radion 9200, a card thats even worse than yours. Guess what, I had the exact same problems. Did SB tech tell me to buy a new card? No, they told me to drop refinement range to 0, set all settings at medium or lower (i set them all the way down) and it should fix the problem. Guess what, it fixed it.
Bot System spec's:
AMD Athlon 2500
Asus A7N8X motherboard
512 Megs ram
Radeon 9200
Windows ME (yes, ME)
My buffbot could run next to me in almost ANY fight on the Corruption server after I changed my settings. Before changing them, I couldnt even log on without a sb.exe.
Give me a few min's and ill quote my petition word for word. Took them about 2 days to get back to me, which yes, sucks. It had to be forwarded from the UBI ccr support to the UBI tech support.. which most likely supports "all" ubi games, im sure.
EDIT: Cant access that account atm since its closed, but my current account (omg im playing without a buffbot!) I see about 4 tech support issues ive had in the past, and ALL of them were answered in a timely manner (within a day), and all were fixed.

If my account wasn't closed, I'd quote you the answer they gave me. It basic boiled down to "buy a new vid card, or buy windows XP" as I was using win98 at that time. Still, that's a load of crap.
Did you try it with refinement range at 0? 3.4 Radeon drivers? Its possable they would of said to upgrade to XP. 98 has.. alot of holes.. WoW works on yours system?
yea, wow worked great from a system point of view...the server lag is a different story. I had the newest radeon drivers, I tried older drivers. tried setting refinement range to 0. Nothing worked. That stuff was suggested by the first person to contact me after roughly 24 hours. They forwarded the problem to ubisoft's tech support, who then took 4 days to give me about a 3 sentance answer telling me to either buy a new vid card OR get winxp. Since then I've gotten xp, but not for that game. I got it for developing a game from home for the company I work for, but that's a different story.
and hasnt crashed yet!
1000 of players and 1000 of mobs in one tiny tiny area...
yes.. there was lag.. but if you have 1000+ people in one part of your map, as anoither game.... with thousands of developer spawned creatures (to aid in leveling), that server would crash..
Now that the population has spread out, its almost flawless (almost..).
I could see playing SB if it was free but that game was outdated before it even came out.
Overlooking the SB error's that used to plague me, the game is just..well buggy, boring and filled with greifers. (open pvp doesnt work). The game seems to promote the random pk'ing too since there is next to nothing to do when your maxed out.
Dunno about now but exploits, bots, macros and gold duping were pretty rampant as well. Class balance was never great either.. I played a channeler at release and ran around 2 shoting everyone.
Open PvP works, you just can't handle it
