Saw the interview with Flannum and Johansen and I was wondering if there are any videos or pics of these legendary weapons they were referring to?

if you look at any of the guild wars 1 rare weapons you should have a good sense of the art style for the legendary weapons in gw2. some look pretty over the top, some look practical but menacing.

That is all fine, I am all for them having many kinds of legendary weapons. But from those pictures and the ones they talked about in the interview ... 60-70% of the weapons sound incredibly silly, unrealistic and flamboyant. 3 of the weapons in that picture have clouds, rainbows, and unicorns. I mean, really now? That is a large majority of them.

This is not a gay pride festival, at least give us some kind of choice between "my little pony" (I call them "trollololol weapons, as that is all they will be used for) and some darker, more "manly" weapons that some people want.

I have zero desire to spend hours and hours on end to get some stupid unicorn bow or rainbow staff. They should have just made the legendary weapons made up of pieces that you can customize to your liking, rather than this pre-set gay-parade weapons and skins.

My guess is I will just be using the "exotic" weapons if this is the crap we have to look at for legendaries. I am not homophobic or hateful towards homosexual people at all. But I also don't want 80% of my legendary weapon choice to look like I am headed to a gay halloween party. Give us some choices at least.

LOL, I'm not saying they shouldn't be in game at all. And I don't have a problem with others playing with those toys if they so desire. But....those skins are not my style. So, I would prefer something else.

Maybe we should all feel more comfortable with some people having a "gender bias". Besides, my chromosomes and horomones made me that way. :P

you almost have an argument that I can get behind but you throw that word "manly" around in a context where it just doesn't belong.

and I get where you are coming from. Heck, you are practically preaching to the choir. But you put "manly" there and you might as well be a teenage boy and one that doesn't know anything to boot.

I'm pretty sure there are plenty of woman who want weapons that seem more gritty, traditional, "suited to the task that they were created for", etc. Essentially weapons that do not represent the part of your post that makes sense and that I highlighted. And there might be men who like things to be flamboyant in a fashion that is also the same highlighted portion.

But "manly" is going too far. That in and of itself sounds silly.

Still, I get your point and I would agree, I prefer less flamboyance in my weapons and armor. At least depending on the styles.

Weapons and armor in Asian games are very flamboyant but I can appreciate them. Well, until they become fish or tooth brushes or some sort of ridiculous stuff like that.

if thats what the legendary items look like, id be dissapointed. even in Aion, low level items look a hell of a lot more impressive than those

You know what I meant. "Manly" might be a poor choice of words, but that was one word in the entire post. Gritty. Realistic to the task. This is GW2, not my little pony. This is all I was trying to say :P

I just hope I can get something that is flashy that doesn't invovle pink, unicorns, rainbows, etc. So far, I don't really like the pigeonholing of the "legendary" weapons if they are so hard to get, yet also, very biased as far as people's taste goes.

I mean, if I was playing a ranger, and the only bow weapon I could get to show my "mastery of the game" (what ArenaNet described as what it takes to get the weapons) is a unicorn bow that shoots rainbows ... I will not be using or spending the time to get that weapon. And I would also be pretty let down if this was what I got after finishing my "legendary weapon grind" to find that this is my reward.

If this is the way they are going, I guess I will be sticking to the "exotic" weapons and not even bothering getting the legendaries :P And that isn't what I would LIKE to do. I want something to strive for that I would actually enjoy using.

I realize this, but again, that is 2 weapons. Of those, and the ones pictured in this thread, there are at least 3 other rainbow/unicorn weapons that look .... silly.

What if people want a Rainbow Hammer, or a Rainbow Sword? Like I was saying before, I would like to see a way to customize the weapons to your liking. Say, you get the weapon, and could slot a shard giving it a certain look/flashyness. This would make them all desired by anyone, as you could pick the effect you got, and not be stuck with one or the other.
