Well I have been over the knowledge base and see a lot of issues with crashing but nothing seems to get an answer so hoping someone here might have an idea.
I get to the character selection screen, choose the character; hit play and game just closes. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone know a fix?
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

I think more info is needed.
For instance have you set your video card to apply graphical changes to the client?
Are your drivers updated?
Are you starting the game through the SOE launcher?
I just resinstalled, started the game by clicking on the client and the game came up but notthing else really loaded. It was an odd thing.
Then I downlooded the launcher (new launcher) and the game patched for a while and I was able to log in.

You likely have the launcher set to Trial at the very upper left. This causes the game to only be patched to the point of enabling access to the trial island (Isle of Dawn). Change the setting on your launcher to full game and it should be able to fully patch and you will be able to log in characters that are currently not in the trial island.
That's a good call.
I go for this. +1
