2400 hours minimum? Some of these mmo youd be doing the entire game 20 times over to meet that requirement.
I think its a normal amount for anyone that actually plays a MMO. For example in Rift I do not know anyone that does not have at least 100 days played. Unless they are a new player it is very unlikely they would be a serious player without having a minimum of 100 days played.
GW1 - 4 years, part-time lately, no more room for alts
Not really AAA but noted anyways:
Runes of Magic - since release, but only part-time
Shaiya - 3 years, but only part-time
No others lasted more than 2 months.

WOW - Launch to Cata COH - 2 years SWTOR - 6 months EQ1 - even though I hated it, I was convinced to go back, and I stayed for 3 months Have tried a lot of MMOs for shorter periods... UO, AOC, AO, EVE, Requiem, Champions, Shadowbane, etc...

2. DAoC until WoW came out, then was back and forth for a few months until WoW won and canceled DAoC
3. WoW until BC out than it was like 2-3 months after that, broke up with exgirlfriend after 6 years and started partying WAY too much for ohh about 3 or 4 years can't remember much of those years was doing alot of illegal substances and drinking heavily around that time.
4. Rift canceled sub after 6 months
5. SWtOR canceled sub after 3 months
Hopefully GW2 can turn my time table back up some, I've tried alot of other games out but none lasted any longer than the 14 day free trials. If GW2 doesn't do it, I'll be looking towards next year for TESO, maybe Archage but probably not because I didn't really see too much in the video's on youtube that got me excited. Possibly Repopulation, waiting to see what that turns out like or some other sandbox type game.
1. Lineage II - 4+ years quited with Goddess of Destruction (made it too WoW-ish for my taste) 2. Lord of the Rings online - +- 3 years now. Do have LTS so I can play whenever I want (mostly with new expansions a month of 4 now) 3. EverQuest II - a bit over a year I think. Not playing as Free player, but always Gold when I play 4. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - half a year now, and am on sub again (headstart for Free2Play, will stay Gold though) 5. World of Warcraft - 10 months subbed, actually played 10 weeks I think. Most boring time in my MMO-life
I know Atlantica isn't AAA but it was different enough to stay fun and interesting for longer than most AAA games.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR
Inspired by the couldn't uninstall fast enough thread. I bring you top 5 you played the longest!
EQ1 4+ years
WoW 4+yrs
City of Heroes 4+yrs
UO 2+yrs
SWG 2+yrs
P.S. would be neat to see a tally of longest played and fasted uninstalled.
It was the first thread I ever created on MMORPG.com, so I'm happy I inspired you to create its opposite! I agree a tally would be fun/interesting with possible insights perhaps.
Here's mine (accuracy may vary, not subbed to any atm)
1. CoH 4+ years (second part on and off)
2. WoW 4 years appx (basically Vanilla from beta to launch of TBC and then on and off)
3. The Realm!!!!!! (3 years appx)
4. UO (2 + years appx)
5. Lotro 1year 1/2
Played LoL since launch casually but I don't think it merits a spot as an MMO (although it is my fallback online game whenever I'm MMOLess.

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
1 SWG: 8 years
2 Rift: 2 months
3. SWTOR: 1 month and 19 days
4. DCUo and STO : 28 days.
5 WAR: 17 days
Also I would like to say I played many others for 1 day or so like AoC, Guild Wars 1 and Lineage... my record was WOW with 45 mins..
Belive me or not but is true.
ffxi = off and on since na release so 9 years
WoW = 2 years
Shadowbane = 2 years
AoC = 1 year
Phantasy star online (dreamcast) = 1yr+ ( if diablo 3 can make it as an mmo on this site then....)
Played other mmo's but they only lasted less than 3 months, or they are so off and on, that its not worth mentioning
1) UO - 7 years
2) EQ1 - 6 years
3) Vanguard - 3 years
4) Aion - 1 year
COH - 2 years
SWTOR - 6 months
EQ1 - even though I hated it, I was convinced to go back, and I stayed for 3 months

2. World of Warcraft.
Those are the only 2 games that I've played for more then a year. Nothing else has been good enough to play for just a few months at best.
In a world of sharp knives, you would be a spoon.
Eve Online - 3 years
City of Heroes - 18 months (not sure exactly)
Lineage 2 - about 1 year
FFXI - 6 months (again not exactly sure)
Atlantica Online - 5 months
I know Atlantica isn't AAA but it was different enough to stay fun and interesting for longer than most AAA games.
