More than you can possibly handle in a weekend.

Not sure how high the content will go. 35-40ish was the last beta weekend event.

    All professions.

    All races.

    All races.

And all Dungeons in whatever areas they allow us access to, and all structured PvP maps, and WvW

Trust me, you couldnt see it all if you tried ;)

I think you can get to like 30+ something level and try the first dungeon in the beta, but don't hold me on that. On the other hand, you get to try every race and every profession there is.

    Lots.

Personal story quests are available until you reach 20, then they are locked out.

There is PvE content in zones up to level 35. You can push past that grinding DE's or doing WvW though.

The first dungeon, Ascalonian Catacombs is open at 30 for story mode, 35 for explorable.

All races and all professions are unlocked.

Most 25+ zones and content is locked out though, as well as many of the mini-games in the cities. We do have the keg brawl game in Norn-lands though ;)

WvWvW and SPvP is unlocked for play as well.

And I am pretty pumped for the BWE, I can't wait to try some of the other classes I haven't touched yet!

I got a email about the beta that explains the gems one will be able to purchase.

Between the informations it also says that this version we are downloaded (or updated if you had the previous one like me) is the release version so since the sylvari and asura were also added, I think that all the content which we will have in the release should be there. :)

Not that anyone would manage to play it all in a weekend but still good to know. ^_^

Check me out on the Jade Quarry Server if you want under the name Dumeka Shoren or Huth Vall. :)

My my, are you that desperate to kill 1 hour and 10 minutes?

Well I'm not currently playing any MMO (waiting for MoP to return to WoW). So just having something to play this weekend is nice. And if GW2 can REALLY impress me, then I'll buy it.

    QFT

GW2 is a very good MMO.

It is not the kind of game I usually go for, but I have to say that GW2 is the best Themepark I ever played.

In fact I already bought the game and I am waiting for the release.

I'm so glad I know almost nothing about this game. I can properly explore and discover an MMO for the first time in a while.

I only wish there wasn't any instancing. Are there any public dungeons, or are they all instanced?

There are little open world caves or just long subterranean areas scattered around. But they are soloable for the most part that I've seen. Sometimes dynamic events will hapen in them and it will cause the content to become more group oriented. I think you just need to get your feet wet to decide if you like it.

They have 8 instanced dungeons that are intended for groups of... 5? 6? Can't remember which.

brought a laptop to work so I can sign in on the server I want without issue, so yeah, I'm a bit excited.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

Only 8? That's good. See in almost any game I've seen with instancing, they just act like a black hole to the population. The world becomes dead cause everyone is just underground in their own private shard. There's no dynamic grouping, just pre made cliques.

I know dynamic events will provide a nice social group aspect above ground (though I hear often times people don't communicate, they just gather for the event and leave without a word) is there anything akin to the old experience of exploring a dungeon, finding other groups of people, and just joining in to fight together?

And each instanced dungeon will have story mode, and 3 x explorable modes each with different routes/mobs etc

8 dungeons for 5-man teams. Considering the end-game (aka Orr) is all outside with huge Dynamic Events (and a small dungeon at the end) I can say there won't be any black holes (hopefully)

I believe people gather for events then leave for two major reasons:

    1. They don't know that events branch and form chains, they don't follow NPCs, they don't talk to NPCs. That way the world feels bland, simple and occasionaly random and maybe boring. Talking to NPCs is essential, learning WHY events around you are happening and what's the follow up. People tend to believe events just restart after some time, while in reality they don't. Once more and more players figure this out we'll see better groups forming and more socializing.

    2. Players are always in a rush, at least from my experience in the beta (and in all other MMO betas I've been into) I hope everyone will chill out and play more slowly, maybe then they can pay attention to reason number 1 above. Right now lots of players are just rushing following their UI indicators as to where events are and don't bother starting their own events. What's the rush anyway?

Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums

It's not the exactly the same. Perhaps I would call it a watered down version of what you remember. Actually, I don't know. What you describe is pretty much the definition of what happens in GW2. You roll around, see others and join in if you want. Everyone seems more than happy to have you along and I was personally happy to have others along. They really did get rid of the grouping barrier.

There are just a lot of nooks and crannies. Exploration, in my opinion, is one of the strengths of the game. Playing with friends only adds to the fun as well.

And about the instanced dungeons... I have my doubts about how popular they will be anyway. The difficulty of trash mobs is so high at the moment, I think it discourages all but the most determined from doing them too often. And because the game is not really based on grinding dungeons for gear, people will only do them when they want to rather than becasue they have to.
