18-35 dont you ever read the statistics they put out?
They make you sign a virtual message saying you are 18 and the top end of players is nearing 40.
In actuality most players are between 16-35 and the amounts you put are too specific.
Guessing the people who actually have time to play the most are between 16-21 though.
Overehere in Holland there are for example many people in early retirement playing..
And many of the people who have lost their jobs in the crisis have lots of time on their hands to play MMO´s. Which is actually the cheepest form of entertainment for them.
People between 16 and 21 should have the least time to play, as they should be studying and socialising in the few hours they are not studying.
lol thats bogus. Highschool, at least in America does not require one tiddly bit of homework to do and you'll do fine in school, so 16-18 group actually have the most free time. College is another thing but many don't even get to there so...
Really my kids to stay in top honors do 3-4 hours a night, maybe your parents should have pushed you harder instead of settling on mediocrity
Some kids need 3-4 hours to do the work that some of us can do in the 10 minutes right before class.
But I stay young playing my hobby. I actually look like i'm in my late 20's but thats probably due to no exposure from the suns rays or having worked a job that broke my body down like many i see my age. plus i don't get to upset about stuff many people blow a gasket over like bills and not having a job etc.
But I love gaming even when I get to the nursing home I will still love it. maybe by then we can get "jacked in" like the matrix.

Yes I am sure you can do a 15 page report in 10 min you are just such a brain, then again my kids go to private school so I am quite sure that is the rule with public school as it shows in our world ranking being so bad. Everyone wants the easy way out and you just epitomized it

My kids do 2 - 3 hours a night ever since they where 12 and they will go to university, despite never having been the smartest kids of their class. They realise that this is their chance, and they dont need much pushing. They admit having more then enough time for all their social activities despite their urge to study.
Overhere in Holland, you van get very far on your wilpower.

Wow, that is atrocious, I know in my Highschool we had a tonne of homework to do - Good ol' Scotland!
M
I feel bad for whatever high schoolers he is talking about. My 1st grader has about an hour of homework a day and my 5th grader has about 2 hours a day. I had a ton of homework in highschool, I guess I could have passed with a D or so just doing good on tests and not doing the homework, but then I wouldn't have gotten into a halfway decent college either.

OMG! 43 and still playing computer games!!? How sad is that? I mean, like shouldn't he have some sort of life or something? Jeez... weirdo alert, weirdo alert!!!

Even without honors courses I was getting piles of homework from just about every class I had in my high school, every night. I think his school was letting them down in my opinion, it was because of that constant homework that I was able to retain like 90% of what they taught us 10 years later.

Can't see me stopping playing pc games before 44 (or long beyond, come to that). Erm... you do realise I was joking about the whole ''omg, no life, weirdo'' stuff right? I am afterall only a number of months behind the person I aimed that at...
38 here, checking in.. Started MMOs with EQ1, started gaming on an Atari 400. (Pacman, woo woo!) My fiance is 25 and he will be playing with me. Our 43 year old friend will also be joining us when his schedule allows, he has the misfortune of working in Iraq at the moment.
As for ages not specific to this game.. Our 44 year old roomate was intensely addicted to WoW before he switched to SWTOR (and we all play EVE in this household) My 45 year old ex and my 60 year old mother both play WoW hours and hours per day.
School... I'm an American, I went to a fairly good school system in the midwest. The school I went to for freshman year didn't count homework much for grades. As long as you aced the tests you could still get an A in the class. That was very good for me since I rarely had to study to ace the tests. The school I went to for the last 3 years of high school counted homework for at least 25% of the grade, some clases as much as 40%. It really sucked. Since I don't tollerate boredom and useless repetition of things I already know I skipped out on it a lot. I got just as good of an education at both schools, my grades were much worse at the second school. I still managed to get accepted to the one of the best state universities in the country though. And I actually did need to do homework then, they didn't cover everything in class that was on the exams.

Canada and I use it because it sounds funny to me and to other people who responded with negative messages, in grade 12 I was an honors student, finished university and am an engineer. Like I said, homework was worth very little in my part of the country. Seems like some of you are confusing homework with essays, which are way different. We only had to do those like once or twice during the whole semester per class. I also stated that I was overgeneralizing but it does provide some of the insight to why Americans are falling behind countries in Asia and Europe.
I would love to see this poll again three months after release. GW2's main selling point is that it emphasizes skill over gear. Skill, in almost all video games is heavily influenced by reaction time. As humans get older their reaction time gets slower (trust me - I know). Thus, I wonder how many of us old codgers will stay in the game (as good as it is) when they hit the higher, more difficult, levels.
The average age of gamers in general (all types of video games, not just MMOs) has been steadily increasing each and every year. It currently stands in the mid 30s (The last published study done by the industry I had read said 33).
The average age of gamers will continue to increase for at least another few decades until it starts to level out. Why is it so high, and why is it increasing? Mainly because those of us now in our 40s and 50s who were the very first wave of young video game players back in the early 1980s have not stopped playing, and have no plans to. Games are not just for kids or young people. No more than movies, TV, or books are just for one age group. Video games may be the newest entertainment form on the block, but it isn't going anywhere and is now mainstream and expanding.
So don't be so shocked that us old timers still play. We created this industry and we aren't going anywhere.
well i believe that these results show the age of the readers of this forum and not about the game ...
I agree. If you changed the question to "How old are you?" the poll would be near identical. I think it will be full of the same players you find in most mainstream mmo's.

I dunno, the first time I ogged in which was last months stress test the graphics took me back at first. I liked the style as static art but was not sure if I wanted that in a MMO. Once I got away from the human starter area it came into it's own for me. Just for the record I love LoTRO and TOR graphics but could never play WoW for more than a day because of the graphics style.

I disagree. There will be tons of non-mmo players buying this game. tons.

HEAVEN OR HELL
Duel 1
Lets ROCK!
Same as Diablo 3. Think 12-16 will be plenty since they don't need credit cards to sub the game.
If the game will be PvP centric will attract them for sure. Stop thinking NA only, people from all the world will play it.
The next MMO will be awesome. Until people reach the end game.
if it is 12-16 then I don't think many of us will be here long, that said I do not think that will be the case, 25-40 would be my guess
