Ok, let's talk about greedy: Let's say you play WoW for a year: 15x12=$180. You have no choice but to spend real money on top of the box you already bought. Now, GW2 doesn't even require ANY money be spent on cash shop items. I wouldn't say that the cash shop is greedy at all.
If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

Thats not to say other people could of had a different opionon on that.
For the most part i think its a good shop, I only have 1 personal worry which isnt relevant the current topic.
(still dont understand why I, and my game of choice were singled out)
Possibly because both games have item shops. I'm honestly as confused as you are seeing as what you've stated so far agrees with the fairness of price for the GW2 item shop.
Originally posted by The_Korrigan Oh, and you can access the bank from crafting workstations now too - so there's really no reason not to do it
This bit was AWESOME! First, for crafting itself it was great, but then also because so many of the larger "outpost" towns you make your way towards have crafting stations but no actual bank- now they don't need one! Brilliant move by AN.

If I misinterpreted you, I am sorry. What I saw was the OP complaining the Cash shop is unbalanced and unfair, and your response saying "That's what you should expect with a cash shop". If you were referring to the pricing being fair, and not the game itself being unbalanced, I apologize.
Only thing that concerned me was the fact I could not get paypal to work as payment method so ended up using a CC, after all the game companies getting hacked and losing our credit card information lately having to use my credit cards for anythng online bothers me.
Whats with these topics? Did they announce that players will no longer be able to purchase gems with in-game gold or something?
Remember, something like a bazillion (that's a real number) keys went out for last weekend. we've got a lot of people seeing this stuff for the first time, again.
Prices are not cheap, but these are convenience items. The bank is quite big as it is, and any extensions are account-wide. Bag slots are a luxury, since with minimal maintenance, you'll be able to use the regular slots with the crafted bags.
Since there is no subscription, and the game is quite lenient with its inventory, I think the business model is OK.
To get a bag slot is 400 gems. There are three slots to unlock. 1200 gems right there just for bag slots.
Bank space is 600 gems a pop and I don't even know what the max number of times you'd need to buy bank space. Lets go with three times just like the bag spaces... 1800 gems
4000 - 3000 = 1000 gems left
Nearly 50 dollars just on bag / bank space... that can't be right... seems so unfair to spend 60 dollars on the game then just to enjoy full usage of storage another 50.
1. "Deposit collectable" will take care of materials and other collectibles. Also the material tab is huge so you will only be using the limited space to store items. If you manage to fill that space with items on your character then congratulations. What I mean is you don't need to expand your storage in order to play. Also there are huge bags available from crafting that can solve any inventory problems an individual player might have. I don't see any problems in storage at all

my main prob is, are those transmute stones only available in the shop?!
No I got alot from zone map completions and mystic key/chest drops (total of 3 chests opened). I completed 4 zones and reached lvl 17 on my warrior and had accumulated 16 transmutation stones (did not craft or sPvP this BWE).

"believe me, mike.. i calculated the odds of this working against the odds that i was doing something incredibly stupid and i did it anyway!"
You want more storage so you can rush to 80? This isn't really the game for you. You're going to miss 75% of it on your way to 80.
Anyway, gold can be exchanged for gems. Sure, a player might have to grind gold a bit for that but really this problem you explain only affects players like you who want to max as quickly as possible.
What you need to realise is that if you do rush to max then you will have no where near enough karma for the equipment you need at 80. So you're going to have to play the game properly anyway. At which point you can just stay doing the same DE's in higher level zones (which will get boring) or get the same amount of karma vs time from events in lower level zones.
Rushing to 80 is pointles with all the upscaling/downscaling in the game. It's been designed that way.
.. not to mention you don't have to sell every 5 minutes anyway. Plus, the NPCs with hearts over their head become a karma merchant once you have completed the heart. You can sell your items to them along the way, for gold.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
And you can also rt click collectibles and deposit them into your bank from anywhere. I never had to return to a town to sell, or ran out of space with my limited bags.
One thing you HAVE to keep in mind about the gem store is NONE of it is essential in the least. There are mostly boosts and oddities. People calling this game buy to win don't even understand the term apparently. Also, the other major fact of the gem store you have to keep in mind is the fact that you can buy gems with IN GAME money. If you make loads of cash and want this or that little tid bit go for it! However, if you're the sort of player that doesn't want to spend a dime passed what you have to, there is an option for you to receive the same items that the payers can get! Nothing is exclusive which is the genius of this "gem"/cash shop along with the non equipment/OP items sold.
As for the gems being expensive, another person posted that this is pretty much a standard rate for cash shops, and I have to agree with this. This game is buy to play and does not have subscriptions. Their servers are definitely going to need to be packing some nice hardware and everything maintained pretty well. I mean lets face it. Like this game or not, this game is going to have a pretty vast player base. Money is definitely needed, but how they've presented the gem store shows to me that they are in fact not greedy. Also if the price is an issue for the gems, you can always purchase what you can and buy the rest with in game money. I personally won't use the gem shop due to being a poor college kid working his ass off while going to school , but I do appreciate their use of a cash shop in the way they have made it.
Bag slots seem to be not necessary at all. I never ran out of bag space, thanks to the ability to send all your crafting materials directly to the bank. And keep in mind crafted bags go at least to 20 slots.
And for the bank, it's a one time purchase. The bank is shared over the whole account. And even there you don't need that much space, since all crafting mats have their own bank space which is unlimited.
I have to say that I loved the ability to click the little cog wheel and sending all my collectibles to storage...it's just these little things that really make the game quite amazing.
Also just to correct you, there is a max storage for crafting items, it's 250 per item.
Originally posted by truksamaYou are not being forced to spend anything above the cost of buying the game. Also, isn't it possible to aquire gems through gameplay to get anything in teh gem store? If so, you may want to blame your competitive nature on spending extra money, not the game creators.
That's not really the point is it, were discussing how competitive the pricing is.

Yeah.....lol he has an issue with how much stuff costs.

guestion: if i make a personal guild i will have a extra bank for my guild & if yes how big is the guild bank?
Possibly because both games have item shops. I'm honestly as confused as you are seeing as what you've stated so far agrees with the fairness of price for the GW2 item shop.
If you want a guild bank, you need to build it using influence, which is gained by guild members representing it and doing content.
Good luck doing that alone - it's definitely possible, but it will take you a long time.

30 bank slot items, up to 250 of each crafting material, 12 slot bags or boxes = a ton of space without purchasing anything.

By the way you can get 20 slot bags at higher crafting levels hehe.
20 slot bags are also there, one example:
