Worst patcher ever?

in Final Fantasy XIV

So I bought the game from Impulse/Gamestop and installed.

 

It appears to be downloading each patch that ever came out, in the order they came out. 

 

Ie:  Currently downloading D2010.09.19.0000 [1/14]

 

Before that it downloaded D2010.09.18.  After each patch it installs the update and then checks for updates again.  This is going to take FOREVER patching this way, why the hell can't it patch the entire game at once instead of applying each patch one after another.  It also seems to be downloading them via torrents as I'm only getting about 400k-1.6MB/s when I usually get upwards of 4MB/s from most other games.

 

Is there a client download available that is more current?  This is going to take forever.  Download speed just dropped to 226 KB/s.

 

Edit:  Alright, crawling at 62kb/s now....

    Yes, it is the worst patcher ever. I will never update or play this horrible game again.

    It will take forever this way, there is a site that caters all patches which you can download directly from, they are a lot faster than official patcher, they don't have all newer patches but do all old ones, will be a hell of a lot faster than patcher! Good luck!

    strange, I have just bought the game. and my patcher is downloading at 2.0mps :)

    mine is going up and down from 1.5 mbps to 500kbs meh i want to take of the peer to peer DL and just go DL off the server.
