A question from a Mac user (Please don't hate me)

Airhead80Airhead80 Member Posts: 10
Long story short: Recieved a MacBook pro for my 18th and I am more than aware with the issues they have with gaming. Anet has clearly stated that there are currently no plans for GW2 being released for Mac. However, I have heard that a number of people have managed to emulate the GW BW on their Mac's. Now I know absolutely nothing about how this was done but seeing as GW2 is going to be so popular I wanted to ask If I could count on a solution to my problem?! (I.E can I count on being able to play GW2 near release on my Mac). Thanks guys!

you just need to install windows via bootcamp & you can play all games!

Use Bootcamp to partition your hard drive, install windows 7 on the new partition, install the latest graphic card drivers and enjoy increased performance in games from playing in OSX.

I love macs I own 4 but the best way to play games on them is to just install windows and use that, in OSX diablo3 i was getting 30fps with everything on high and in windows at the same settings I was getting 55fps, pretty large performance increase and it's the same in most games.

There are people that work on porting games themselves but they need extended time with the game in order to get it to work, so if you are willing to wait until after release for a chance of being able to play it then feel free but the performance will be worse than playing in windows.

I would advise you take a look at this website: http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com and use macrumors.com forums, the user doh123 is the guy that made wineskin and has most success getting games to work.

SWTOR worked in Beta at one point but when they changed something in a patch, it would no longer work with wineskin at all so there is always the risk of this happening with any game.

Bootcamp is always the best option performance-wise.

Others are WINE (see post above) and Crossover, both of which work with GW2 to some degree, but not completely flawless yet.

Yep, exacly what the other guys are saying. The only reason i respect Blizzard is because they have released games like WoW and Diablo 3 for Mac. I was also very happy when it was annouced that The Elder Scrolls Online will support Mac from launch as well. I can't understand why it might be such a huge trouble for developers to create a Mac version for their games. Every new The Sims game supports both OSes from the same DVD, something i admire. I would love to see Guild Wars 2 or Rift, or even TSW for Mac someday...
