I'm unfortunatly not in beta but with all the other things you listed (XP buff, bag slots, etc.) it all depends how much easier the game becomes when you pay money and how much of a chore the game becomes if you don't pay.

I will wait untill the game is released and get player feedback. This could go very wrong or not be a problem at all.

Regardless of the rate, it will be possible. It may become easier or harder depending on the market. But thre is nothing in the cash shop which requires you 100% without any alternative to use RMT.

To answer your question about chores...

GW2 has a function that sends all crafting mats, mini perts, and a few others things straight to a special segment of your bank, that does not actually touch your number of open bank slots. You can also access the abnk from any crafting station anywhere int he world (there are many in little towns scattered through the world). Because of these, extra bank slots and bag slots are a lot less necessary than on some other games. partially crafted items and anything else sits in the bank, and your bank is shared amongst all cahracters, so there is a possibility to fill it out, but personal experience from the beta saw me not even coming close.

The xp buff, as I mentioned, increases xp from mob kills. Only mob kills. Most of your xp pve comes from DEs, Hearts, PS Quests, etc...none of which benefit from it. PvP doesn't benefit from it at all. Gold doesn't impact the game to where you can buy your way to power. You will have a tiny edge, but you will never be aqble to put yourself miles above other players. There is also an item that increases magic drop rates; basically improves your odds of getting rare items. However it's not that powerful. It improves the chance by a multiplicative 50% (not additive). What that means is something with a normally 1% rate would be 1.5% with the buff. All of these buffs, while relatively inexpensive, only last one hour.

I'll agree we can't get the full picture until release, so far there seems little reason to worry. A little cautious skepticism never hurts though, so kudos.

    No!!!

Any benefit a player can have in gw2 will only shorten there game by speeding them through leveling even if ever so slightly, or help them be more entertaining for the whole community. Most of the stuff is for FUN like the costumes and box 'o' fun= entertainment for the whole community. Any adavantageous items only help in pve which helps all arounf, if your 10% more poerful you are with me so it's more a benefit for all in that regard. Who cares if someone can get to a higher level faster there is no benefit to that other than shoertening the game which doesn't appeal to me personally.

The question of your poll doesn't reflect your statement.

    You could ask:

Do you consider GW2 CS P2W?

    Yes.

    No.

Or if you prefer you could ask:

Do you think GW2 CS is P2W?

    a) I've bought GW2 and don't think GW2 is PW2.

    b) I've bought GW2 regardless of it being P2W.

    c) I haven't bought GW2 because it is P2W.

    d) I haven't bought GW2 but I don't think it is P2W.

These 2 poll options would reflect your words. The poll presented don't.

    Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

Because people change their definition of P2W to not include the games they like. I'm sure a lot of Tribes players don't admit it's P2W - just like the majority of GW2 players don't admit GW2 is P2W. :)

Or maybe people just have different definitions? Its not that people "wont admit" or anything of the sort, its got to do more with the thresholds that people have to things.

Some people think that WoW is a grind, others think its has zero grind compared to lineage games or older games in general

Some people think Guild wars 2 is pay to win, others think that is laughable compared to runes of magic or any nexons game cash shop.

Its a reality that is really not that hard to grasp.

I think we need to get this straight now, the majority of GW2's community doesn't think its pay to win, some people do. but who cares if they think its pay to win then play something else because the bottom line is that Guild wars 2 is about having fun and being equal and if people are blind to that and only care about getting somewhere the quickest and by the easiest method then they have already lost in my opinion.

The poll doesn't reflect any of the questions in the post?

Sorry OP I won't vote in the poll because it's too obvious what your real hidden agenda is here.

Anything that gw2 shop offers gives no real advantage over someone else in any shape or form...

yes the cash shop items have an effect on gameplay.

an example would be if i max out 5 level 80 characters i can then use the cash shop to unlock a new character slot.  i can't think of how that isn't a direct effect on my gameplay.

another example would be using the cash shop to change home servers so you can play with a different group.  that would effect gameplay as well.. the list does go on.

    Well that's just a lie....

It gives players the advantage of speed and convenience, or else why would anyone buy gems? ;)

But does it give them an unfair advantage? In PvP? No, you can't use the boosts in PvP. In PvE? Again I'd say no, because you gain nothing that suddenly makes you harder to kill, or gives you increased damage output to kill faster.

Personally I think the boosts are a great idea. They allow players with less time to play to catch up to their friends who have more time to play, without causing an imbalance to the game. A very fine line to walk and one which I think Anet has done extremely well.

Just for the record... you CAN use the boosts in PvP... the Killstreak boost in particular is great if you use it at the appropriate time. And if memory serves right theres a Karma booster as well, which is specifically for pvp .

Also, I never said the boosts were imbalanced at all ;)
