The Staff is a support weapon.
It has terrible auto attack range and weak damage. But nice AoE (still very weak for such short range)
I would like to see a heal on this auto attack as a chain perhaps. Something that does what it currently does, but also heals allies in the blast radius. this makes the auto attack in this weapon more useful for such a short range in WvW.

Sry but no. That could lead to "LFG Guardian to go". There must be no dedicated healer in this game.
Maybe small regen like Water Elementalist but nothing that could heal anyone effectively.

No, the staff is situational, just like the other weapons in this game. If you want ranged then use a scepter + anything, they changed the range on it in bw3.

They don't need one. Staff already gives multiple heals, adding another to your chain could start to push people into playing it as a healer (which is against what the devs wanted for this class). Mace gives a heal on the combo and is all around a better main-hand for the guardian than the staff.
If you feel autoattack is weak, they should just buff the dmg. Guardian with staff already has heal skill on 2nd weapon slot with only 3 seconds cooldown, also 5th skill with 60 sec cooldown.

um....if you are expecting a buff to the guardian class then you're up for a big disappointment.
I'm gonna roll a Gaurdian but hellz no.. no heal on staff!
Nope, because the first skill always has the shortest cooldown and people will start spamming the first skill pidgeon holding the guardian profession into being a healer.
thats why I suggested making it into a chain. cant use chain if you use other skills.

They can already spec for that.

Guardians dont need any more healing options, they already have more than most other classes. They especially dont need one available to all guardians regardless of spec.

My concern is that guardian is already great supporter, making it even more supportive he could become a must-have in party when doing dungeons for example. I don't want teams to be built around one specific class.

What most are afraid of is people becoming dependent on a class which would defeat the purpose of getting rid of the holy trinity.
frankly I don't want to see LF1M Gaurdian healer all over my chat window to be honest.
Agree with Zeus. Guardian doesn't need another heal and I can almost 100% say that they won't get another on a combo chain. They don't need one and I'm sure ArenaNet realizes this.

I agree that staff's auto attack is quite weak, and because of that staff guardinans are not really popular. I tried staff guardian in PvP and I didn't do well. I was far better with greatsword or hammer.
Guardian with staff has 4 support skills out of 5 weapon skills. I think they should just buff the range or dmg output of the first skill and that's it.

Yea, it won't do much. But what's the point of adding healing effect to autoattack then as you suggested?
edit: to reply to the your post above: Well, I thought you want to make staff more usefull, in other words buff it somehow.

Let me ask YOU a question: Why do you ask for opinions if you are not prepared to accept the result?
Anet did not "just remove threat mechanics". Mechanics are there - Just not as active skills. A lot of things are different from your usual trinity game, including healing.
We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!

Healing on the staff auto attack would fit in with the guardian's limited range design. Since they are designed not to be major ranged fighters in PvP, the staff is best up close and personal with zergs keeping Melee ally alive and well on the front line. Most of the skills point to this with their limited range and damage, but full support tools. Right now the AoE is useless on the auto attack. Too weak, and has no support options to go with the other skills. A heal on the auto attack also means a more mobile support build, which is uselful for a front line fighter in Zerg vs Zerg. Most of the skills from staff root you in place. That's not helpful all the time in front line. It's crazy to suggest they will buff the range of all staff skills. It's design for front line support. Not long range.

I remember setting Radiant Aura on my defender to automatic and just hanging out on missions. That's balls. Don't turn the guardian into HealBot 5000.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy.

No, I don't want that.

Fair enough. Yet you assume there are no threat mechanics ingame - Which implies that all monster attacks will be totally random?
Heal on autoattack, even if just 1/3 in a 180 degree arc behind the guardian is just flawed thinking in GW2 skillterms.
