I'm gonna start a Human Fighter, and was wondering what I need to be putting points into to make it a good character and not a crappy get my butt wooped type character. Any advice from the experienced players of the game?
I assume by saying human "fighter" that you are going to start as a fighter then progress to warrior at level 20 and then gladiotor at level 40. This is your basic sword-carring stud.
Basically my advice would be this:
If you know you are going to want to use a sword throughout your travels, don't waste MP on Dagger or Bow skills. As you progress in the game, you will quickly see that the more SP you save, the better off you will be.
Of course, as a human fighter you might decide to become a rougue at level 20. In this case, you should begin your travels by using a bow (and perhaps a dagger) and leave the sword skills alone.
The biggest thing you can do is think ahead. Do the manor system and continually do all the repeatable quests. Don't worry about levelling. Get the best weapon you can first, then concentrate on your armor. The biggest mistake I have seen in this game is people rushing to level early on, and not spending the time to save adena. What this does is basically leave you in lowbie gear well past level 20.
To make money do the manor system and save all the mats (like bones, varnish, coal, charcoal) and sell them in Giran. Don't sell them in starter towns or other towns because generally the price is half of what you can sell for in Giran. If you play your cards right . . between the mats you get by doing the manor system and the money you get from drops and repeatable quests, you can easily have enough money for good D grade gear at level 20.
By " Human Fighter ", yes I mean I'm gonna do the warrior then gladiator. Therefore, I won't put points into ranged attack skills or anything like that, was just wonderin if there is anything in particular I should use them on. Thx for your info
Well.... I think there is powerstrike as a skill. but make sure that you put points into weapon masteries as well as armor masteries...
I also believe there is a skill called Relax. This is good becuase it will shorten downtime.
I wouldn't worry too much about "wasting" your skillpoints at your lvl. The amount of skill points you will receive throughout the game will nullify any bad decisions you make in your first 19 lvls.
To give you an example, what does a skill cost at low lvl? from a few hundred to maybe 3000 or so?
At lvl 66 I had 4 million+ skill points to spend and I got all those from going 65 to 66. However... some of my skill cost 300,000 sp's so you can see how you will need that many. But "wasting" a few skill points on some bow skills really is smalll potatoes in the long run.
The bigger issue you will have is money.
