I was just wondering is it possible to play EVE successfully playing only solo or rogue for that matter and not joining any Corporations? Have players done this? Could a player have a lucrative career?
er um ok I admit I am totaly noobish when it comes to EVE basicly I am wondering is it possible to play solo with out joining any corps and have fun with the game get far with it stuff like that.

sure if you don't mind getting the SWTOR on fan forums treatment.
There are rogue factions ie. pirates etc. that you get missions against early on. I am guessing you could somehow get neutral or better status with them. I heard some chatter about it in Corp chat before. Not sure how it works. but it seemed possible. Guessing they don't give missions though.

it is possible to play EVE w/o being in a player corp. but the fun in EVE comes from coordinating with many ships, it is a community game, soloers get killed.
Yes it's possible but you'd be missing out on the best parts of Eve.
Also If you intend on PvPing then expect to lose a lot.

Yes it is possible to play EVE online completely alone, and if you like it that way, you can call it succesfull.
You should start by doing missions to any combat - type agent, while training towards Frigates lvl5, Covert Op frigates, Interceptors and Assault frigates and their weaponry. 1st step of your career is obtaining a Covert Op frigate of your race, and equip it with a cloak ( http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Cloaking_device ) This shouldn't take more than 14 days. You should reach lvl2 missions, and do them with assault frigate.
At this point you should read about combat avoidance, flying in 0.0 , living in NPC 0.0 region, and how to get Angel Cartel (or any other pirate faction) missions. ( http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Angel_Cartel ) . When you have read about these thnigs, you should fly to the region of your Pirate Faction, do their missions, get enough money to buy their ships and learn in practice about things you just read about.
While doing all this, you should absolutely not engage in any PVP. Use your Covert Ops frigate cloaked to observe others and learn from them. Observe gate trafic, gate fights, how small ships manouver, and watch all the videos of EVE Is Easy - web page. When you reach skills and money to buy 5 Assault Frigates/interceptors with all Tech 2 level modules, you should anyway buy 50 Rifters and fit them with Tech 1 modules and lose them purposefuly on mindless engagements before using your T2 fit ships.
After you've lost 50x T1 ships, and fought bravely in at least 10 victories with your T2 ships, you might consider upgrading to a Pirate Faction ship and confidently roam solo. Congrats, you're now confident PVP solo pirate.
This is about 2 months long crash course straight into the solo PVP world of EVE. You will find out about gazillion other paths and things you could do, but if you want to solo, Pirate Faction frigates and cruisers are the way to go, living in NPC 0.0 is the harshest (and most opportunity rich) environment to learn everything, and if you go this way you'll come out as steel hard PVP'er who is not welcome anywhere but in a good way (to you).
Later when your player skill evolves you'll upgrade to Tech 3 Cruisers and train your self an alt to fly a Falcon and Mindlinked T3 Booster, you'll "solo" small gangs with these and can basically kill anyone 1 on 1, other than another "solo" pirate with same tools
DAoC - 00-06 - And every now and then WoW - Online since launch - and now back again. EVE - Online since 07 - and still on, and on, and on.. I do not know what "rogue" is supposed to be but on general note, yes you can play EVE Online solo just fine.
Since you do not say what your specific goals in the game are and you claim yourself as a new player, I would say it is a great way for a new player to enter the universe EVE Online - lots of exploring, learning and exciting ventures without being hand helded.

Pretty much this.
Stay out of low-nullsec unless you're tired of not being blown up. But like others say, without a corp you're missing out on alot of what makes this game special.

Sure you can. I am solo player for 3 years. It is hard but with time you will learn how to deal with big corp bastards. What is more worth for me is that you have solo kills most of the time and that is priceless, one solo kill is more worth then 100 kills in some big fleet battle. More adrenalin for you

Wow Ty for the info very helpful. It seems we have a few solo players from this thread cool.

Again, nobody said it was impossible just expect to lose a lot. As a beginner it will be more frequent too.
Most players roam in groups so a solo player will have to run more often than not. Flying in a group will open many more possibilities.

The short answer is that yes it is possible, but be aware that you will be playing EVE on "hard mode" if you do this. EVE can be kind of lonely if you have no one to talk to.

You don't have to join a player corp if you don't want to.
You're automatically dropped into a NPC corp when you start out.
"Lectroids? Planet 10? Nuclear extortion? A girl named "John"?
from a pvp perspective yes, in wormhole space. since u dont show up in local cloaked unless you chat something.
in 0.0 you will show up in local and if your in someones territory, you will be saught after and killed mostly.

hahahaha! I found piracy hardly worth your time... Maybe griefing is more fun...
Battleship with MWD and bump around miners....
Scan people doing missions and ninja loot their crap and make them mad...
Do missions yourself for the lulz...
Rat in nullsec in places that you are not suppose to be there... beware... you are going to be pop...
Rage Quit the game...
Pretty much this.
