I'm a quester. I love quests and story-line and all the details that come with it. I can say now, giving my experience with the combat upgrade, I can no longer quest at the appropriate levels. Sure there might be a few out there but the majority of them are unaccessible until I level about 10 or more levels above it. If I have to do that in order to complete a quest- forget it! What's the point? Anyone else have this dilemma?

Yeah, the comunity in EQ2 is hard to explain. Don't just try to create a group with players marked with LFG. People, 90% of the time will help you do anything, even if it mean walking across a few zones to come to youre aid (happens to me alot), 5% will tell you they are too busy, or ignore you and the other 5% will tell you they are logging
I find it's all in the way you ask

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
What did I say that was so offensive?. No idea why it got deleted and why you had to report it. Sorry I wasn't trying to be mean, but I was quite annoyed at the thread title. The questing has never been more fun or challenging.
What server do you play on? I play on Antonia Bayle now and it is HEAVY load just about every night. I typed /who in Willow Wood and there were freaking 38 people! In Willow Wood!! In Antonica there were 82 people!! This was all at 11pm at night pacific time. So it seriously depends what ever you're on. If you're having trouble finding a group I strongly recommend you start a new character on Antonia Bayle, you will never have trouble finding a group.
My names Ericsson on there. Again sorry, and if you do decide to play there give me a shout.
I find the questing system to still be very good but there ARE several quests that need a serious looking at now. They had problems before the CU but now they're really bad.
Example: Level 12 Quest just as you enter antonica: Kill some gnolls on an island.
Problem: The gnolls are all level 12 blue con HEROIC GROUP encounters.
Worse: They are in groups of 3 Gnolls. ALL flagged heroic "GROUP" encounter.
Even a full group of players around level 12-13 cannot survive a fight with them.
There IS one group of 7 gnolls on the island that aren't flagged heroic but there are 7 and they are all grouped. I had to get a group to help me do those. They aren't always non-heroic though because when they respawned it was a heroic encounter.
This is just an example. there are several other quests that need serious work since the CU went live.
So the OP has a point. Some of the quests are un-doable now at an appropriate level. Though that one, in particular, has always had issues.
Another one: Level 10'ish.. is to find what a key is for. No clue where to go or anything but I found that it opens a door at the back of the tower in antonica where you appear when you zone in from the bell. I opened the door and, thank god I was stealthed, came face to face with 3 level 11 heroic con mobs all linked. (remember, this was a level TEN quest)
I got the reward just for opening the door but it was only like 3 silver and any non-stealther (or a stealther who wasn't anally cautious and didn't stealth first) who opened that door would have zoned in to instant death with no chance of recovering their shard without heroic intervention by their guild. And most true noobs aren't generally in a guild at level 10.

My Fury is level 38 with 6 days played and I have only been in a group or grouped with anyone at all 3 times in that span. Ya, I'd call that solo friendly.
Forgive my sig, it only updates the info once a week and must not be able to keep up with my character solo leveling in this solo-unfriendly game.

Yeah, last night when I got my entire lvl within 2 hours by myself I realized... You know, those people that haven't played the game are right, this isn't solo friendly... And then I immediatley turned on LFG.
There is bound to be teething problems with changes this vast, just feedback it and give them a few weeks, they will get it undercontrol
personally cant say Ive encountered the same problem, then again my characters is 40+
The problem at the momment is that AB is the only server with consistently high player population and its a Roleplaying server, that beein said, if you plan to make a character in AB just fo the sake of finding groups, then my friend, you will be in for a world of abuse, griefing and insults.
The AB community is great... if your a roleplayer, otherwise, if you dont roleplay, most ppl will look down upon you, make elitist remarks, tell you to roll a character in another serverm tell you to go play WoW or just plain ignore you.
This is the biggest issue right now, so unless SOE swallows its pride and merges the low pop servers, wich are the majority of them, then you will always have problems finding a good understanding community if your not a roleplayer. End of story.
All ur Mountain Dew is belong to me.
No the game is very solo friendly. Obviously you don't play. Those are examples of QUESTS that need to be REWORKED now that the CU has gone in because they're too hard for their level. In no way is it difficult to solo in EQ2. My character is a predator... non-tank non-healer class and I solo just fine.

Wrong, the first quest requires you to specifically kill Dankfur gnolls. They spawn on an island south of the tower in the se corner of Antonica. That is the ONLY place I've found them. Killing other types of gnolls does NOT fulfil the requirement. Please check your facts before replying. The quest you are thinking of is the "Gnoll Extermination/Elimination" Quest that you get in Qeynos... this is a totally different quest.
Don't correct people when you don't know what you're talking about.

Yes, I made mistake. I find you to be very caustic and rude, though. The reason I don't check my facts is because I don't look at any websites or outside resources that give guides to quests or any other kind of help. With most subjects I do check my facts pretty well. I avoid all guides though; it really takes the fun out of it.
If I could I would like to employ your encyclopedic knowledge of everquest 2. Could you tell me what level the quest was that I was talking about? I am just curious if it is a good example of a quest that one can solo. I don't think that all the quests should be soloable.
Obviously, I thought I knew what I was talking about; so I spoke about it. There is no way to avoid these situations with humans sometimes. You could have just corrected me.
The one you are talking about is flagged as a level 13 or 14 if I recall. And it's easily solo'able since at 14 you can solo the level 14 and 15 gnolls out by the Windstalker town which are non-heroic and ungrouped.
And I don't have "encyclopedic" knowledge. I just don't answer about a quest when I don't know it
You may find my post rude. I tend to be pretty blunt. I don't beat around the bush when I answer someone and when someone "corrects" me with inaccurate information I tend to get a bit irked.

I especially love how the majority of the quests in my Druid (14th level) are Heroic -- aka, you can't do them solo. What level of complicated quests are these? They include, for instance, all of the Farseas Requisitions! Wow, I can see how those are group-only things! (sarcasm intended).
I don't mind the combat upgrade, per se, but I think the retiering was done utterly haphazardly (I think those monkeys in DoF got loose with some darts, personally) and without a thought to whether or not it made SENSE within the ENVIRONMENT for some of these re-tiered groups to be group versus solo.
Then again, I'm an advocate of the old social-aura method for defining creatures and aggro -- instead of just the artificial linkage that removes the player from having to figure out whether attacking that guard will draw a host of folks or if he could pick him off successfully.
Questing now? Dull. And before this starts what usually happens -- someone says questing isn't fun at low levels, and a bunch of morons who can't read pile on about how great questing is with their 45th level whatever -- low-level. Those strange levels where players make-or-break their impressions of the game, where the new players will either keep playing or they won't.
