Resubscribe, but to what?

I think this is the first time I am asking for advice in this place as I have seen a LOT of the even sincere ones turn into flame wars, lets see how this turns out.

Currently I am subscribed to no game, but I have decided to resubscribe to one of my old ones, the question is wich one?

Anarchy Online, my first love, I left the first time when the OE nerf came and the second time when AI came, if I jump on again i will NOT get AI. I have a 207 Soldier and a 160 something Crat.

Asherons Call, still probably the best game out there, but allthough I am not a graphic junkie this one is a bit outdated. Had a 40 something Swashbuckler who I bloody miss.

AC2, to be cancelled so.. :(

Neocron, another game drawing its last breath, bit afraid to restart and I played on Pluto wich was empty even back then, had a constructor mainly, "maker of stuff" wich I have some found memories of.

Horizons, I left this game for one reason only, it had no customer service, and by that I do not mean it was a bad one, it did not existed and I felt that was weird for a MMO, have this changed? The game seems to slowly come around. Had a lvl 37 archer with a LOT of second professions, also lvl 45 smith.

Everquest2, as I am lvl 50 I would need to both resubscribe AND get DoF, probably splitpaw to, wich makes this the most expensive by far alternative. Almost no one plays anymore either that I know so, id love to check DoF out though.

WoW, have lvl 60 hunter, solod almost all the way, no guild to speak of and chances of finding a good one among the zillion of kindergartens seems distant at best.  My least likely choice by far.

EvE, cheap and very well made I am leaning to this really but the timeframe is a bit long with at LEAST 3 months left to be even remotely viable at the core PvP system.

Advice people?

    Well here's my personal opinion:

EQ2: Good game if you enjoyed it. I wouldn't go back unless you're willing to pickup the expansions... so you're right there. But if you liked the game (I enjoyed it), and you don't mind the extra scrap, I'd head on back in. :-)

AO: *sigh* slight mess with a mixture of F2Pers with no expansions or Booster Pack, and the minority of the players being the ones who refuse to give up SL and Notum Wars. BUT, it's the same game after all this time.

Hz: Haven't played after the refit. I hear good things but I'm still slightly broken from the original release.

EVE: Good game. If you enjoyed the gameplay, I think it's 1 of the most intensively built MMOGs ever. It's still going strong and all the new (free) expansions make it worthwhile.

WoW: If you like it. Great game. ::::28::

    Hope I helped. Good luck!!!

Buy the new AC1 expansion and resubscribe to that.

I actually tried to get AC1 going again but in the interrim between M$ and turbine my account seems lost, MS do not have it, I can not migrate it to turbine and it is not there allready.

I will have to research this a bit, allthough it was like over 1 years since I last logged in and I am not sure my characters are still there.

They've only done one database wipe of cancelled accounts, and that was about four or five years ago. If you quit playing after that (or started playing after that), then your characters should be there. I initially had some trouble migrating my account as well (the MS Zone sent me to the wrong place), though I was able to recover my characters after a bit of email communication with Turbine billing support.

Turbine did just end the billing migration thing, but none of the old character data was deleted. You should still be able to recover your characters from the Turbine billing section, I think. If not, it might mean a call/email to customer support. I'm pretty sure they'll be willing to work with you, though.

You probably know I'm gonna suggest EQ2, but you might not know exactly why.

You can log in right now for a 7 day free trial for returning players (I'm pretty sure this is still avail.). Subscription numbers have lately been reported at 450k-500k and I have to say that on my new server Antonia Bayle, the number of players is staggering. The server is on Heavy load every night I have played in the last week, and the game just friggin rocks now. I can't overstate how much better this game is since about 6 months after launch.

The new expansion drew in a ton of people and the new combat revamp has made the game MUCH more challenging and thusly rewarding to play. Last night I got a really great drop hehe so I couldn't be much happier with it. The number and quality of quests is staggering. 3 nights ago I did a /who in Willow Wood and it reported back that there were 38 people....in Willow Wood!! 88 players in Antonica and there was still an Antonica 2, and this was all at 11pm pacific, thats 2 am est!

Just try it Umbrood, you get 7 days free and you're gonna love the combat revamp. That is unless you don't like challenging battles. You can't solo white con Heroic mobs anymore, and you can't solo anything you shouldn't be able to. The con system is now to be respected and I love it. It truly is Everquest part 2 now.image

EDIT: also you can /duel now, it rocks lol image Also you can mentor other players. Say you're level 50 but your buddy is level 41, you can right click him and pick mentoring and you will become his level! He will then get proper experience and you can help him level up and do quests. SO many other changes that are great, just dig in.

sigh...once again not true. A lot of games are plain just not finished when they are released. If you found a game decent but just lacking in content or what have you, just wait 6-8 months and come back to check it out.

I allready did the 7 day thingy some month back, kinda wish I would have waited. And it did not include either the Bloodlines ( this was out when I quit, i just did not buy it ) nor Splitpaw so I saw nothing new at all really.

I did get a 2 week trial thingy for City of Heroes from a friend yesterday but honestly that seems like a weird game and not very MMO at all by my standards, more like a console game honestly, do not think I will stretch that trial much.

I have also played, and actually enjoyed.

Maplestory, cute, easy and acessible, still start it up now and then when I need some senseless asian lvl grind.

Hostile Space, more like a mud really as graphic is none existant but does offer a good variety of MMO elements.

El-Kardian, Singapore game I think, played a month back in beta, not unlike the first 3d diablo clones, classic asian game with HUGE grind and abyssmal drop rate on good things but I kinda liked it.

Actually ill stop here, this thing could go on for a while as I pretty much played every game that ever excited alpha, and almost all of them had things I enjoyed, I do not think I can say there is one I HATE out of all thoose.

Ah well, decisions to make I guess, dumping yet another 50$ into eq2, allthough tempting, and find out it sucks is not something I want to do.

just play the original game, if u dont like it anymore then leave :P

I've quit every mmorpg out there and resub to em once in awhile for them to be crap! I learnt my lesson just to wait a few years for good mmorpgs

Nah, as I am lvl 50 i would really need the new incentive of gaining XP again to even have remotely fun. The prospect of lvling are the biggest carrot I have, most games I quit shortly after reaching max lvl. So the new 10 lvl would be the main reason I played I guess.

Well I'd say even if you try one of the other games keep your EvE account running and skill train on it.. Othervise you will never get over the big hump that is the first 1-2 mill sp. And if you find that you lose intrest in the standard mmos after reaching max lvl then eve is an alternative as you will never reach max lvl per say. You will always have something to look forward to.. new ship.. weapons etc.. And the good thing is you don't have to grind to get to that new thing you look forward to... Although you have to kinda grind isk..

    Thats just my opinion though..
