Patching forever

in Lineage 2
can anyone explain to me why I downloaded the game and it has been patching for over 14 hrs now and overall progress is still only maybe 3/4 of the way full?

    it's loading all the content added in c1 , c2 , c3

    I just started L2 yesterday and it only took about 3-4 hours at the most for all the dowloading/updating. So, far I like L2 but I'm only level 5 lol.

    I'm on the Lionna server and my character is Tortimer. I don't know anybody else that plays L2. So, if you join Lionna send me a tell and we can group if you want. I'm at level 7 or 8 now. My character is an Elf fighter working toward a Silver Ranger. I normally play ranger/archer/hunter type characters.
