Ok the gear issue really shits me, but i havnt seen a chat issue in weeks.

The thing about the LFG tool is that this game is so short, that most of the player base seems to be at or approaching end-game already, and the LFG chat channel is so flooded that you can't read it while it flies by.
not going to say anything about this because its late, and im tired of arguing with people over dungeon finders.

Knowing how short their actual content was, they should have probbably has this in the game as well.
there content is not short. Its pretty vast. Problem is people disregard most of it because they want to "get to cap". If you enjoy the content there is hundreds of hours of fun to be had.

You know, I really miss games that took 6+ months for a casual player to cap.  I played WoW and didn't start until Burning Crusade came out.  I think it took me damned near a year to hit level 70, and while I was casual, I still played at least 16 hours per week and often more.
    good times.

Considering they told us exactly what we were getting with this update, I don't see how you can be underwhelmed (unless of course you were underwhelmed 20-25 days ago when they announced it).

    With that said...

I imagine the updates will be "heftier" going forward.  Considering this is the first month, I imagine most resources were devoted to supporting the game as is (as opposed to new content and new features).

Also, it is hard to gauge the nature of these new missions considering some missions may take 10-15min to complete to a few hours (if they're investigative missions and you're not using walkthroughs which none would exist yet).

As for the LFG Tool... I haven't had issues finding a dungeon group at all.  So long as activity stays like this, I'd say its unnecessary.  Now, if this was FF14, I'd say get it in ASAP! :)

I feel your pain, every time I switch from DPS to Solo to Tank build I RAGE. Love the game but the tool needs to get fixed.

Why? They are doing what they have always done. TSW is a game with great potential and sticking to script, should take Funcom 10 months to 3 years to get it near that potential. If they can do it in around a year, the game will do fine for 3-5 years before going F2P. If it takes closer to 2 years, it will be F2P in less than 3.

Then the problem must be on my server.  My Cabal and Group chat breaks every single time I zone.  I have to delete the tabs and re-add them to get them working again.  Those chats will still show up in my general chat tab, but the tabs I add break. I did a dungeon run today already and had the same tab problems.

I'm not the biggest fan of them either, but this is a giant solo-fest themepark.  The LFG channel is currently serving basically the same function in a much less efficient (and/or broken) manner.  In a game such as this, they might as well have it in there.

I'm not hurrying at all, and I do *all* of the side quests in the zone before I leave it.  It still goes by pretty fast.  One of the reasons for this is that you can get AP, SP and great gear by running dungeons, and it makes the rest of the world PvE content as easy as butter to play.

Yeah, I enjoyed knowing I was going to be playing my chosen MMO for a long time.  I don't like to hop games every 30-60 days, and I like making friends and building up guilds.  It's so pointless in TSW, that I have joined about 11 different guilds, and each of them rarely surpassed 20 people in size before they broke up.  There's just no point in a guild in this game because no one will be around for long.

Don't get me wrong, Funcom made a great game here, but it's going to run into the same content-chase problem that all the others have these days.  TSW would be the perfect game to have vast explorable zones and more community features, but Funcom doesn't get it.  Because of this, they will have a transient player base and will likely end up F2P by Spring.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

A year? you spent 16 hours a week and it took you a year ? Impressive, much /dance? And you are comparing A month old game to a 2 year old game with one expansion... Doesn`t really seem fair does it?

LFG tool is easier, but makes the game less social... imo it partially ruined WOW, and it made it better:P... Noticed how no one speaks while being in dungeons anymore?

When WOW came out there was no raids either... there wasnt even Heroics... took about 2 months if i remember correct before the first raid... long time ago, so might be misstaken :P

Give or take 16.  I took my time and enjoyed my guilds and all the content.  I don't play end-game so I wasn't in a hurry like most WoW players.   Still, even taking my time in TSW, i think it will take me 60 days tops to finish the content.

Then the LFG tool isn't necessary at this point.  Considering chat is that active, and it is, it takes only a few moments to get a PUG together.  The LFG tool is only useful in situations where the population may be thin (such as NM Polaris in a 4-6 months).

How is 16 hours per week casual?  My gaming time in its entirety for a week is probably 6-8hrs max.  I guess it is subjective.

AO is what 10 years old? It's f2p I think and is getting a graphics overhaul.

AoC is what 6 years old? It is not free to play.

So what exactly makes you think they will make their best mmo f2p?

What  was promised that is not there? It's all there.

But in 60 days they have added 3 monthly updates... if they keep what they promised that is^^.  Apparantly the August one is bigger then this one, with the first raid included, and i guess some other features in addition to the story missions... Have some doubts if they will manage to keep with the monthly update promise though, but i guess they probably already have some content lying around which only need a last touch or something.

I for one will use alot of time getting to the end. played since prerelease, and have just gotten to Egypt. tho i dont have time to play much atm

For me it's because i can stay up late on the weekends and have some long sessions unless I have other plans.  Then I usually get a little time in during the week if I am lucky.  For an MMO, 16 hours is still pretty casual compared to those hardcore people who play like six hours a day.  You know, single people with no other hobbies or interests (or jobs in some cases).

Ok I will have to search for their exact quote if they havent removed it from their site but they did say LFg tool would be in this update(wether you likethe tool or not they said it would) but now has been pushedb ack, its tuesday and no new clothing thats suppose to happen every tuesday like it did last week plus addional clothing for this update alone neither were implemented.

Pets were suppose to start to slowly have a purpose in game and I dont see any  change or mention of that in this update.

The makeovers for adding new models etcs was suppose to be included in this update but was pushed back a bit and was not implemented.

I am not bashing them I am saying this update really isnt that big and mainly geared towards fixing some bugs(good for that) and some endgame for higher lvl players but they left out low end folks like most mmos do.

And as to my statement about out of the gate I was referring to their first content update like rift had done this pales in comparion  to rifts.  i am just hoping they do better and gear updates if not every other month for one group of players or spread a bit out in each update for all.

but in the end as I said i do enjoy the game just wish more especially for their preview of whats to come in further updates that this one would be bettter then it was.

  • TheDarkrayneTheDarkrayne Member EpicPosts: 5,297

This is 7 new fully voiced multi tiered missions.. not just 7 missions. They are a lot more than just 7 quests in most other MMOs.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I still didn't see any quotes, or links, or even screen shots of anything; at all.  I did see some back-peddeling though.

He's confusing it with the end of August update. I recall that one to have LFG tool and appearance changes etc.

Now that TOR is f2p I believe it will put pressure on Rift, Tera and TSW to look at this option. Its not that TSW is a bad game or anything of that but the market pressure is building up more and more with each f2p announcment and new games coming out f2p or b2p.

Funny thing about these games, people are complaining already about reaching or getting close to end game.  It is funcom.  If you remember AOC, it was easy to get to end game, what made you think it would be different in this game.

If the game had a longer leveling curver everyone would be whining about that.

This Game is about Storyline, Atmosphere and bloody hard Puzzles, i dont give a Grunts A$$ about Dungeons in TSW.

AO is 10 years old. Whats your point? Still one of the worst launches in history, still took a full year to fix the issues which is the point I made.

AoC is 4 years old, not 6. It lost almost half its players by month 4 due to Funcom not being able to fix the massive bugs or bring the promised end-game content, it took them almost 2 full years to bring it near its potential and by then they lost too many players...the game HAS BEEN FREE for a year already...which fits into my point.

Now go look at some articles that are more than 2 years old on this site, long before TSW was announced and read about what they say about Funcoms history...its the answer to the OPs post, which I broke down in my reply. Funcom, with all of its games, ALL OF THEM, either succedded or failed by what they are able to do in their games first year. And all of the games, had people like you, distorting the numbers to pretend that there is nothing wrong....nothing to see here...even when AO was running for over a YEAR with only 10k people playing it...even on the AoC boards right there very minute youll see posts about how the game is a massive success and is the bestest thing evar! With its F2P and less than 300 people on any of the few servers remaining.

This game dropped off the radar quick...

Funcom are already offering A Free to play weekend.

Should have gone Box sale with no Subscription.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

I have to agree that they should have gone B2P- there is just no feasible way to offer enough new content monthly to justify a subscription. I've been able to complete all of the quests in all but the final Transylvania zone in about 30 days.

I'm not particularly interested in PvP and have no intention of undertaking the gear grind that is endgame. I'd be tempted to jump in on some of it if there was no subscription fee looming but with that I can really only see subscribing to this game for about 4 months a year at the current rate of new missions/stories- has nothing to do with the price of $15/mo, but I can jump into a number of F2P games in the meantime with all new (to me) content and pay nothing.

people should go read the offical forums and read all the hate threads about all the issues with this new patch . Notes completely missing on what they nurfed or changed and still no chat fixes or bug fixes listed. Not a very good sign for funcom , looks like another age of conan.....

A very nice update. Sadly, though, a very buggy one. AH bugged, hats bugged, grouping bugged.
