Wondering what the best place to preorder/purchase from would be, and if there's a deadline on when to pre-whatev to get into the headstart period. Also does it have to be a full prepurchase?
I like spellcasters, which one, of mesmer, ele, and necro, is the most OP. It's a serious Q, I don't care to wait for buffs, not afraid of nerfs :P I tend to lean towards one with more survivability and damage avoidance, so some guidance there will help as well.
One last Q, is there a 'real' stealth in this game, where you can go invis until you attack without a timer? I think that's a no, but I forgot.
Thanks for putting up with a noob.
oh wait I lied, one more question, are there official pvp/pve/rp server types, if no, what's going to be the unofficial US rp server?
Comments
Necro has the most survivability. Elementals are squishy but versatile. Mesmers are a bit underpowered I've heard. Only stealth is through thief and it is limited I believe. Servers are not split they all have the same designation.
First off, please go HERE: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/ and read up instead of asking such newbish questions that have been asked and answered 1,000,000 times (ya, that's over 9,000!)
But, ...
1) Gamestop or Amazon.com, but gamestop is sold out of the CE if that's what you want
2) Prepurchase gets you 3 days headstart, pre-order gets you 1-day. The sooner you do whatever, the better you can get the client and start downloading.
3)Spellcasters with survivablity would be Necromancer which has a double-health bar. Mesmer is a glass cannon with fake mirrors and a Elementalist is just glass cannon. Neither survive well.
4) No, there's no 100% full time stealth. It's timed and it's mainly for situational aspects.
5) There's no server types save for US or EU, that's it.
1) You can go to the official GW2 site and pre-purchase the digital edition there. If you prefer a box you can pre-purchase from Gamestop. As far as I know, you can pre-purchase all the way up until the headstart begins on the 25th. It has to be prepurchase for the 3 day headstart. Pre-order only gives a 1 day headstart.
2) As far as the class question goes I would definitely recommend Necro for survivability. They have the highest health in the game (even with warriors). They also have the Death Shroud mechanic where they build up Life Force through their skills. and can use that Life Force as a secondary health pool.
Check this tournament video out to kind of get an idea of what a necro is like. It's from a necro's perspective, and at 2:00 you can see the necro use Death Shroud to negate almost all of the warrior's burst damage.
3) You are correct, there is no perma-stealth. Most stealth skills only last for a few seconds.
4) Anet hasn't announced any plans for different server types. Tarnished Coast is the unofficial US RP server.
thanks tomtom and others.
There is but one place to pre order and thats online with Arenanet, to make sure all the money you pay goes to the developer.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
As to what to rol......good luck with that, I have a short list that isn't that short!
Purchasing:
- If you want the cheapest price, then I'd go with Green Man Gaming given the 20% off discount. They only sell the digital version of the game though (rather than hard copy). Use google to find the voucher code.
Classes:
- Elementalist = highest burst damage, highest healing, highest mobility (i.e., movement speed) among the caster classes. As a result they have the least base hp. At lv. 80, their base hp is about 10k.
- Mesmer = weak damage since the last beta. I expect them to be buffed up in terms of damage. However, they are the hardest class to kill (among all of the classes) because they have several vanishing skills, clones, and they have the option of using a teleportation skill that has the lowest cool-down duration among all classes. Their base hp is about 15k at lv. 80.
- Necromancer = lowest mobility (which is similarly true for mesmer), and as of the previous beta, one of their weapon should always be the 2-handed staff (since it's powerful and provides a means to catch fleeing opponents, or help them flee pursuers). Usually this class has the hardest time fleeing from pursuers in pvp among the 3 caster classes though due to its low mobility and deception options. In a 1 v 1 situation, this class can beat (i.e., force the opponent to flee or be killed) any other class though thanks to its superior ability to remove conditions, inflict conditions, and deal good damage. Their base hp is about 18k at lv. 80.
check mmoga.com for preorder
they had the best price for d3 and already have 42€ for guild wars 2
on ebay they have 400k positive feedback and send keys 5 minutes after purchase
I'm sure the money goes to NCsoft first as part of a publishing agreement. But I do tend to like digital versions of online only games.
I personally think the best place to preorder from is the Guild Wars 2 website itself. There have been a few ways to get a discounts on your purchases through other parties like Amazon too. I'm pretty sure you need a full prepurchase to get into the headstart. As far as a deadline goes I don't think they've mentioned one, so I'm sure you could preorder on the day before headstart and not have issues.
Of the scholars Elementalists definitely felt the most balanced. Not overpowered in the slightest though. Necromancers and Mesmers were a little bit underwhelming the last beta (Necromancer focused on condition spam did okay, but not nearly as strong as say a Ranger doing the same thing); however they aren't that far behind Elementalists that it really shouldn't matter what you pick. Rangers and Guardians are the only ones that are overpowered at the moment, though nerfs should be coming soon at least for Guardian.
Necros have the most survivability of the scholars. Mesmers are ultra squishy, despite having an evasion mechanic and a few survivability mechanics. Elementalists are generally squishy, except they have lots of attunements that enhance their survivability and a good Elementalist can make use of it. We actually had our Elementalist play defender in our 5s team and he was able to hold off points just fine using the proper attunements.
There is no perma stealth in the game. Thieves can spec to have a lot of stealth.
There are no official servers as of now, as PvP is completely optional across all servers. Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server last I heard.

(sorry, from phone)
If you want digital I went through Green man gaming and got 20% but that was last Saturday. I'm not sure if the. Code works now but it's in a thread here not far back.
You will pick a norn warrior, just like everyone else! capice?
I'll have to read up on rangers, I like the idea of the class, just haven't played anything like it since DAoC, didn't care for the way WoW did them.
