Firstly, Im relativly new to mmorpg, Ive only played one and that is eve online and Ive been at that since it was released over 2 years ago, eve is setup with just one server with everyone on it, but I hear that everquest is different and thats where most of my questions lie.
I saw the box game advertised for $20, does this include 1 month conection to servers?
If not, is the a free trial being offered anywhere do you know?
When I register my account do I then have to pick a server or can I test different ones first?
What difference is there between the servers, is it just playing style, time zones or is it content such as a different section of the map?
Do you have multiple chars per account?
If yes, and say i have 3, can I have one char on oner sever, then second on another and the third on yet another? Or do I have the option of 3 chars on all servers?
Ive read on EQII forums that it costs $50 to transfer a character between servers, So i take it that I cant continue to develope a char on a different server.
And do ur answers also apply for EQ1, as i am undecided with which one to go for
Thnx in advance for the information, the answers will help me to decide wether to buy or not

1) Yes there is a free trial. I highly recommend playing the free trial: Trial of the Isle... it can be downloaded from the official site.
2) If you know a person who plays the game ask them to get you a buddy code once you're done with the Trial and you can get another 7 days free play (using the same trial account so you can continue wiht the same characters) in the full version of the game.
3) If you feel the game is worth buying then buy it. And yes, it comes with 30 days of free play time. And you can use the same characters you had in the trial as long as you use the game code to register the same username.
Good luck.
Yes you can have several characters per account. Yes, you can split them among servers or have all of them on the same server.
Yes it costs $$$ to move a character from one server to another but I'm not sure what you mean that you can't develop a char on a different server? EQ2 isn't like EVE where you gain skill offline. In EQ you gain skill by *doing*. If you aren't ON the character actively playing the game the character doesn't advance.
Which is why, as a person who evidently really enjoys eve, you may not like the game style of EQ2... they're vastly different. Both are excellent (I have played and enjoyed both) but the playstyles are night and day.
EQ1 and EQ2 are very similar. I dont' reccommend joining EQ1 though as EQ2 is far superior.
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Thnx alot for your answers, i knew about the having to do things to further your char, its the thing that i like about everquest, even though i like the eve-online way, Id perfer it to be action based.
I dont know any1 who plays everquest and i have a dumb dial up conection so i will have to buy the box, the fact it already has a trial is great.
Agree about the free trial.
Though to me the trial was better than the game itself; in the trials the game is fast, advancement is quick; quests dont send you too far and there is little to no ZONING.
In the game, freeport or queynos, at least in the newbie levels thats all that you do, zone and zone. Even your trainer sends you to every corner of the town. BTW, I've got 1gb of RAM so I guess for less zoning one needs 2Gb.
Another interesting thing I noticed is that people say EQ2 is entirely different from EQ and I disagree; I think it is essecially the same game with the best graphic engine in gaming today. Although in my opinion they should have provided more modern game mechanics;
