Sounds good for the EU (presuming they are headstarting the same date....release is usually a couple of days later in the UK)

This is an OUTRAGE!  I can't beleive they would do this to us here in NA!!!  What happened to OUR rights, OUR priviledges! This means that I will be rather sleepy when the game starts up!  Now I have to buy an energy drink! Do I get any money back for the extra costs that this is going to put on me? NO! Now I understand how this game is P2W! If you can afford to pay for a european vacation near the end of August, you can be more awake to play in WvW when the game first releases! Why didn't I see this before!!!

    /end facetious rant

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

I get home form work at 2am EST, and so an hour to eat and patch up, etc... then onto playing right at 3am :)

    Perfect for me!

    EXCELLENT.

I'm generally up at 2AM EST anyways so if nothing else I can reserve the names I'll plan to use before continuing my morning ritual. ;-P

Because flying a Minmatar ship is like going down a flight of stairs on an office chair while firing an Uzi.

I must say this is excellent date, both for americans and europeans. I love ArenaNet.

There is a countdown timer in guildwars2.com

  • Countdown timer is still indicating August 25th at noon for me (I'm in PST)...I'll be trying at midnight anyway.

I'm also PST and it does indicate NOON, not 12AM.  I also hope it's midnight, but doesn't appear to be.

Look at the countdown clock on the official website.  It's 12pm or noon, not 12am.   :(

  • GruntiesGrunties Member Posts: 859

The 12 PM time (indicated by the timer) was perfect for me. The 12 AM time (3AM EST) is pretty awful for me. I'm hoping this gets cleared up officially. I understand people saying the timer is bugged, so for better or worse I hope they fix that at least to prevent confusion, otherwise if you don't follow the forums you would have no idea.

A noon(12PM) release makes a lot more sense. They are gonna want employees to be on hand and alert to deal with any big release problems. Though it wouldn't be uncommon for developers to pull all nighters on an important night, if it isn't necessary there is no reason why they would go out of their way to do so. Something about it being a midnight release just seems off and unexpected.

I dont think ive ever seen an mmo go live in the middle of the night. I've seen anywhere from noon to 8:00pm but never later than midnight. This would be the first one for me anyway, if its true.

Edit: The countdown clock is incorrect, the OP is what you should go by.
