I'll be 26 when the game comes out... fortunately MMOs generally don't have the same appeal to the younger generation anymore compared to the instant gratification of games like COD.  If this game becomes a success and continues to generate the buzz and hype it deserves post release, then more youngsters will be flocking to the game. With blizz releasing MoP so close to release will also effect the age range I think.

800 odd people have taken that poll so far. Nice distribution with an odd little up-tick in the 61+ range. Guess it's really not for kids then.

Edit: I just realised how bogus my statement was as it's just a poll of MMORPG.COM users. lol.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

They make you sign a virtual message saying you are 18 and the top end of players is nearing 40.

In actuality most players are between 16-35 and the amounts you put are too specific.

Guessing the people who actually have time to play the most are between 16-21 though.

Overehere in Holland there are for example many people in early retirement playing..

And many of the people who have lost their jobs in the crisis have lots of time on their hands to play MMO´s.  Which is actually the cheepest form of entertainment for them.

People between 16 and 21 should have the least time to play, as they should be studying and socialising in the few hours they are not studying.

lol thats bogus. Highschool, at least in America does not require one tiddly bit of homework to do and you'll do fine in school, so 16-18 group actually have the most free time. College is another thing but many don't even get to there so...

Well... It really depends on the individual... I'm 21 and I can't get more free time than just few hours a week and mostly during the weekend to play games since I gotta study and be at university... But my few friends aren't on the same faculty and they have more than enough of free time, whenever I ask them what are they doing they're goin out or doing something like playing games...

It may just be a poll of MMORPG users, but it also reflects the data from scientific studies done by various groups within the game industry.

Honestly, even at the better schools in America, you don't really have to put that much effort in to get good grades. I know I had a ridiculous amount of free time when I wasn't playing sports, and making music.

It's honestly not that much different on the University level. The real difference is that in college you have more ways to capitalize on your free time than in high school. So, unless you are really struggling to absorb the info you tend to have as much (or as little) free time as you want. It also depends on if you need to work in addition to class, though. I know for me, some semesters I was able to get away with quite a lot, and others I could barely find enough time to catch sleep.

Sweet lol. I just did nearly the same.

    33 here

I just built a new pc for myself and have bought 4 copies so far, 1 for myself and the other 3 for family / friends. It's likely i'll end up buying 2 more copies before release.

The more i think about my own poll, the more i realise that the results are only showing the average age of MMORPG.com vissitors and not the age of GW2 vissitors.

With the current B2P vission, its a guarrantee that by christmass all the kiddos will be in too. And then i am talking about the <12 years ones.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

My vote is in now that I pre-purchased a few days ago.  Another older gamer here in the 41 - 50 category.   Quite a sizeable contingent in my age range in this forum.  Makes me feel practically mainstream :)
