LF immersive MMORPG, with raids, large raids.

VillafrancaVillafranca Member Posts: 33

I am looking for an MMORPG to play again. I have some free time finally and I want to get back into one. I would like to find one that is immersive. I have played many in the past

WOW, AOC, WAR, TERA (beta) , SWTOR, LOTRO, EQII out of all of these WoW was the most immersive. I was playing Vanilla-WOTLK...

It was immersive for two reason to me, things were hard for the most part and when you got gear it was earned (vannialla-tbc at least) . Also the community, It was easy to find a good group of people to play with. Friendly guilds were common at this time.

So i want an immersive MMO with a great community and difficult content... good pvp is a plus

MMO with a great community and difficulty content?

Hmm the only one that isn't on the list of already played games would be Final Fantasy XI. It's the last of the "hardcore MMOs", and can be ridicuously punishing and time consuming, but it makes it all so much more rewarding.

FFXI is also very immersive, if you can forgive the dated graphics, and the community are loyal and usually very helpful.

Just be warned; the first 15 or so levels are quite boring, it's after that when you start grouping and doing missions / quests together that FFXI becomes addictive and fun.

There are large raids (Alliances) in the game where you band together to defeat bosses. And before the level cap got raised there used to be a boss or two (Pandemonium Warden and Absolute Virtue) that took up to 24 hours to kill!

I am sorry, the list was not ment to show games I will not play. I would be willing to play these again. I have not played any MMO for a while. SWTOR was the last so I guess that is the only one I will not play again. If the other games have changed I would be willing to go back...

Nah FFXI use to be that way, but ever since XIV launched they made really bad changes to XI to make it much more casual friendly.  Right now FFXI would not be a game I'd recommend for people looking for difficulty, and as for immersion it is still there, but beating a difficult story mission with some friends or just random players no longer give players a sense of achievement.

The community was great, the game was immersive, and the combat was tactical instead of fast button spam.  However the community went downhill by year 6, the game immersion was killed by the level 99 cap which threw the game balance under a truck, and the all important teamwork is now nearly non-existent.

After roughly 8 years worth of FFXI, I quit just right before they screwed with the game.  FFXIV on the other hand was kind of a bust, it has good concept, but SE didn't take their time to develop contents and polish it before launch.  Now SE is asking the makers of WoW for advice, and that cannot be a good thing for players who likes old school MMO that caters to more niche but serious players.

Try Vanguard, it is going F2P on the 14th.

Its certainly immersive, and the game has no instancing whatsoever, including dungeons and raids.

for that specific criteria I would suggest Vanguard > WoW > EQ2 > Rift. Unfortunately, no other real options exist, which is why so many of us complain about the state of new games. I honestly wouldn't care 1/2 as much about swtor being a single player game if there were some real options for my preferred playstyle .. Vanguard, even though it is my top suggestion .. is really not much of an option. The other 3 focus more on ezmode solo gameplay though ... so ...

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

Every single game LoD is in is immersive (because we are all RPers), with large raids (because we stick together) and great PvP (because we have been doing it since Meridian 59). Too bad we dont know you so you cant join. Haha!

Because all it would then take is for you to find a game and server with LoD or one of its divisions and you found a game with all the things you are looking for. You can still take advantage of the RP going on caused by us, be challenged by our PvPing and join one of the outter guilds trying to keep up with our raiding challenges...from outside the guild. Flew over your head didnt it?  your response is why the guild has been closed for 10 years. kneejerk reaction before seeing the bigger picture. 10 years, guild drama free, no unknowns allowed.

Kneejerk reaction? More like you did a terrible job of what ever it was you "did" that flew over my head.  It was simply a dick head response that you made. There was a question asked in my post. You did nothing to answer is, just came in with a pompous attitude.

    LoD activity

Category: General Updates — Simon @ 6:38 pm

    Games we are currently playing:

Arma 2 – Day Zero Mod
    Darkfall
    Diablo 3

    Games we plan on playing:
    Guild Wars 2
Shadowbane EMU (Depending on release date)

    ---

None of those games seems to satisfy the OP's request, regardless of the guild activities.

That Lords of Death was never anything outside of UO which was its first game. They are a public guild, always have been.

LoD was over 350 members in UO so we broke down into divisions, Domination, Damnation,, Havoc, Black Knight Brigade, Elipsis, Rebirth.

In order, 2 PvP, 1 PvP raid, 1 PvP RP, 1 RP and 1 raid. The divisions were created to keep the guild in tighter shape by making sure like minded players were fit together to keep drama down. Raiders with raiders, RPers with RPers...yet still keep the guild large for backing each other up.

LoD = Lords of Destruction/Warlords of Destruction/Lords of Domination/Lords of Damnation depending on the game.

Fair enough, though it would have been nice to help the OP out instead of posting just to say, "Oh man, I've got JUST what you're looking for... but you can't join. Nananana boo boo!"

We're all friends here, right? :)

Fair enough. But it wouldnt have fit into the heart of what we stand for. Competition...make him WANT to either shove it in our face that we didnt let him in...or make him want to earn it. And seeing as how im an RPing raider...I am a little intense.

So, come prove you arent a carebear powerpuff pansy *** little nansy boy and challenge us!

    /overboard much?

Rift has developed into its raiding as well as a new Expansion was just announced for it. Also Tera just got an update that added raiding.

does it need to be dungeon type raids? how about open world ones like this?

obviously would need to wait couple weeks for release but it's most immersive MMO I've played

for straight dungeon raiding I'd go with Rift
