    thanks for the laugh!

    a fun read!

Aemi. No one always gets the type of attention they want. Do you honestly believe anyone actually buys that statement? Its a cop out. The difference between women and men isn't negative attention. Its positive attention. There are a lot of men who have never once rec'd any positive attention from women ever. They wil probably never admit it but its not an abnormal male experience for a guy to go his whole life without a single woman ever so much as hitting on him.
I remember hearing a theory that we are all descendant of 40% of all the men who ever lived but also 80% of all women who have ever lived. I don't have a source for that but I don't find it hard to believe. Men who are desired are the minority. For men it is seen as the ultimate luxury to be desired.
We all receive abuse. It's just a question of where from.

    Thanks for the laugh, Pokket!

Unfortunately for you, it sounds like you are writing from experience.  :(

BTW, what was your email address again?

    HAHAHAHA!  Just kidding!

BTW Pokket, don't sweat the "small stuff".  That's what the guys you're talking about usually have.....small stuff.

You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???

    Be afraid.....The dragons are HERE!

People agree to objectifying themselves in order to get a foot in the door or establish a career, gain fame, etc. Then when they have it, they go back and disavow the objectification in order to get their self worth back.

O.K. We're on an mmo internet site where we are suppose to have "mmo" talk. So, exactly why are you bringing this crap up? Are you honestly trying to defend yourself over the internet?

    Grow up.

I don't get it. I thought this was about how to get an internet girl. Who needs another real one?

I'm male and can understand where Pokket is coming from with this article, I've seen it time and again, in MMOs in particular.  I think it's ridiculous women get stalked and harrassed in these games for wanting to do what most people start out doing and that is just wanting to play.

It seems like most  women, single or otherwise, that want to play these games get extra attention(most unwanted) because of what some clown earlier posted as the "lack of" between the legs.

I can say our gaming guild doesn't tolerate crap like this, everyone is treated equally regardless of sex, religion, or any other difference. Usually that entails giving each other shit constantly but we all know it's not mean spirited and not based off anything personal.

Thing is, Pokket wanted the attention, got the attention, now wants to complain because all of the attention isn't positive. If someone's stalking her that's a criminal problem. If they're just saying mean things then, well take it as it is "attention". Good or bad you asked for it, you got it.

This article is about her, she's airing her grievances using MMORPG.COM as a vehicle. In my opinion this article is one of the reasons she shouldn't be writing for MMORPG.COM. But, as long as she's popular with the many male members in gaming she'll continue to be used by them.

Better write an article about it!

Next you'll be telling me that Chatroulette isn't a safe haven of people just looking for a simple friendly chat!

I took time out from beating off friendless men to laugh at this particular reply to the OP.  I thank you.

The OP had so much material to work with, yet barely the imagination to pull it off... so to speak.  Long live the, "I' am She, kneel before me!  But not quite that close!  Oh, go on then, get closer!" passive/aggressive GRRls' bullshit.

Here's a thought though... rent yourself a genderless name and don't tell anyone you're a girl to begin with... *gasp*.

Yeah, althought the article was mildly amusing, i just have no pity whatsoever for attractive women in modern western society.  They can continue to tell themselves that it was their hard work and determination that got them where they are, but they are fooling themselves.  I'm not saying pokket or any other attractive women don't or didnt work hard, but they severely downplay the role their looks had in getting them where they are.

aww gee, so THATS what I've been doing wrong all this time?

*Starts looking up peoples private info*

    :P

Sounds like Pokket decided to speak out against something thats happeend to her personally And I can belive that, I've seen some rude comments about her, hell I've posted something I thought was rude, then see 4 more after mine which make mine look like a complement :P

Still think people, everywhere, should just realize that online, we are all just generless freaks, since with todays tech, you can 'look' and 'sound' like anything you want.

People are people, treat and judge them based on 'who' they are and not 'what' they are.

Speak for yourself.  I am very much of a gender and, with the exception of a borderline personality disorder, I don't consider myself a freak.

What we all share most in common is an enjoyment of gaming.  This 'article' reduces that to the age-old girl vs boy crap and OMG, that's SO like last century.

Girls who have nothing to prove, in-game, will rarely make it obvious they're a girl to start with.  Those who want to avoid the "stalker" types will avoid being found on the internet.  I mean ffs, it's not rocket science, galz!  If you can kick the living shit out of a boss 25 times your size... you can sure as hell work out how to stop people finding you on the net.

I don't find the OP in the least attractive but we have to assume she has a pulse, and so I understand her fan base.  But looks, really, has nowt to do with anything in an online RPG, MMO, or whatever the fuck the latest cuteword is for this ace, fun stuff.  We're all toons until we allow our gender to be known ... and, in my admittedly limited, experience, some "let the side down girlies" are only too happy to a) flirt until it doesn't suit them any longer, b) prove their gender in group voip and worst of all, c) act like giggling fucktards once they get on group voip.  Yuk.

You don't have to feel sorry for anyone. Most women neither want, nor do they need your pity. Just don't be a misogynistic @ss on internet forums.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I learned how to heal on RIFT thanks to an UI-positioning video, made by her a long time ago and I remember quite well there was a comment, possibly another jealous female gamer who posted a very long message:

"You look like a fake b***h, your videos are so fake, stop giving wrong ideas about women to your watchers...and blablablabla. Your videos are bad !". Well in the essence, it was a very, very, very long message of insults and jealousy taken to the highest peak.

And Pokket replied, suavely: "Then don't watch them.".

Now yes, rotten behavior comes from both genders, regardless, when they cannot be or have what you have, not just male creepers. You brought a smile on my face opening this little window on the world of your stalkers.

Keep up the good work !

I noticed a fairly basic grammatic error in the very first sentence of this "article", at which point I promptly stopped reading, and uninstalled the internet.

"will rarely make it obvious they're a girl"

I don't think a woman should have to hide the fact of who she is. A woman should be able to use the name she wants and use her real voice for vent without dealing with being hit on or hated. To say, if you let people know you are a woman you deserve what you get is the same thing as saying "She deserved to be raped for dressing like that.".

I was going to write something along the line of "LOL you go girl!", when I realised that how Ive commented to some of her articles could be catagorized as one of those "people".

Im not sure if she has even read anything Ive written, but thats not important.

Just so you know Pokket I havent written anything that was meant to be spiteful or hurtful. Ive always tried to comment semi-seriously and then make a funny (in my opinon) remark towrds the end.

Ive made those remarks like I do with some of the other female friends I have. The difference is that when Im just a little too dickish they can give me a punch in the shoulder.

I think part of the problem with these remarks is that a lot of us have gotten to know you thru your videos. So that gives us viewers (me) a familiarity thats just not shared.

As an example, your "rambling" that is part of your video meme, its just like what a close female friend of mine does. And because of that, and because Ive become familar with you thru you videos I tend to "flick you shit" in a friendly way.

But because you dont know me as I know you (in the context of your videos), I can see how some of my comments/remarks could be viewed a being an "ass". (Irregardless of whether youve read them or not.)

There are only a few columns that I Iike to read/watch, yours is one of them. And honestly I dont watch them for you boobs, or to see what color youre going to dye your hair, or even for your looks.

Truth is, I watch them because Im too lazy to surf the internet for answers and the latest MMO news.

That and when you cover games that you like playing (TOR at one point), you tend to focus on the things in the topic that I find interesting.

Youre E3 interviews are especially a good example. Some of your best stuff.

Anyway, if Ive offended at some point. Sorry.

I love how much women throw that term around (and it is spelled with a Y btw), and most don't have even the slightest clue what it means.

So now i can't be critical of some women's actions without being a misogynist?

Just like people calling americans Fascists and such, yet another term that gets thrown around when people don't know what a real fascist or a real misogynist is.

To be fair, you did just bunch up all women in a would-be-offensive statement.  Demisogynise that and get back to us.

To attempt to label her unprofessional for writing an opinion column on a site dedicated to providing opinion for consideration is the mark of an agenda, be it personal or corporate. As a matter of fact this is her “personal” column for subjects of her choice. So, she was irritated by a horny net stalker and people’s misogynistic comments then made a sarcastic article of it to vent some frustration? If you don’t like it then don’t waste your own time just to be miserable. We are posting on a game site for fun and not engaged in activity for the betterment of humanity. This is a good thing since some people are obviously beyond reasonable hope.

It seems the best comment some of you have is that she has an unfair advantage in that she looks cute on camera and has cool bewbz to “control you” with. I guess it’s not fair for a rookie NFL quarterback to make millions because he has a stronger arm than you to throw a football with either. Nothing in life is fair, you make the best of what you have. Crying over your cards in Vegas won’t spare you losing the pot either.

The appearance of several “new” posters to this site that have created accounts for no other reason than to attack Pokket for this article is the symptom of either a single nut case with multiple alts in need of banning or of a sickness in society. Take your pick. Perhaps The Eye was right. You can learn all you need to know about humanity from reading the comments section on YouTube... (TSW)
