KOTOR 2 rebooted.

IsturiIsturi Member Posts: 1,509

Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords has been rebooted. Now the main question is are the real fans of TOR going to stop playing the MMO and revisite Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords?

I think that Bio should of done a KOTOR 3 instead of SW:ToR IMHO

I played 1.7 last week. It's a good mod and adds at least 2 hours to gameplay. Gonna play it again... next week. Way better than KotOR 1.

edit: you can play it in 1920 with widescreen patch(google), there might be problems with ingame cutscenes so you have to fix it in the widescreen config file. with ati cards you probably will need ATI Tray Tools.

Thanks! I had no idea this was being worked on :)

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Interesting.  KOTOR 2 was, in the end, a terrible, incomplete game but it was blatantly clear from playing it that Obsidian had some very lofty aims for it.  That game to me looked like a clear victim of "Ship now or never" in the crunch days of when Episode III came out.  I'd have to see if I still have my discs...

"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." I found KOTOR2 in mechanics ways superior to KOTOR1.  The storyline, once you found out what was actually cut, was pretty incredible.

Ironically after working with LA on KOTOR, Bioware swore they would never work with LA again.  Many of the Obsidian guys worked on the first KOTOR, just did so under a new company.  Of course, now Bioware is working with LA again, and how is that turning out?

KOTOR2 was a game with high ambitions and that should've been phenomonal.  Wonder what this mod will be like.

The real fans of the Old Republic Universe didn't play the MMO.

It retconned half of the first two games and retroactively ruined several characters, especially Revan. The MMO Tortanic was the worst thing to happen to the franchise.

I'm glad to see they're done.  I've been playing with the earlier versions for some time now and would never go back to playing vanilla K2.  I don't think it completely fixes the disjointed feeling one gets playing through the game, but it does add back in significant consequences to decisions that should have been completed and included in the original release.

I agree with the above who suggested the MMO was a bad thing for the KotOR franchise.  You had what was a well-conceived little focal point in the pre-movie Star Wars timeline and then completely blew it out of all proportion with TOR.  A KotOR 3 telling the tale of how Revan and the Exile foiled the return of the heirs of the original Sith empire out on the galaxy's fringes was the all the era needed.

I agree as well. KotOR was the game of my childhood, and I was so excited when SWTOR was initially announced. But it has all gone so far downhill... it's one of the most disappointing moments in my personal gaming history. I would have given them enough money for a lifetime sub if they'd just given us KotOR 3.

I have to agree. The direction they took Revan and the Jedi Exile just pissed me off to no end.

Don't forget, they completely deleted Kreia. She never lived according to canon now.

Yeah the series introduced a lot of interesting and compelling characters.... and the MMO ruined them.  Revan turning into a 200 year old superhero "behind enemy lines" just made me groan.

    And now I'm even angrier.

The books Bioware shat out to hype up the MMO along with statements from devs. Summaries, of course, but still.

This. I loved KOTOR. I think its tied with FFX for RPG i've replayed the most.

I was excited the first time I heard about TOR. As the years went by I wished it was going to be KOTOR 3.
