in Planetside
How people play this game?  Is it still mass battles, or is it pretty quiet?  Is it fun, or is it dumb? I want to know before i buy it.

    I just got it. to me theres lots of people playing. there is mas battles but if you got form a battle to the othere side of a content then ya you wont find any thing. I pesronly belive its worth it but i would try the trall one frist.(im drinking so dont mind my spelling) its a fun game.

    well, I think it a wast of money now...more ppl used to play it back before it got sucky...

    my friend just renewed, we both been away for about 7 mouths, he said they fixed some stuff, but its not as great as it used to be...

    I would and less try it, for 7days..ask a friend form PS they can get u a key...

    allso one of the devs , there going to be making a MMORPGSFPS, because they feel PS as failed...
    that will be awile tho..and I dont know much about it...

    Well since you said "Is it still mass battles" that leads me to believe that you played it before... And since you have I would have to say no to your question. As I said before 3 Developers (2 lead) and 1 CM have quit. Alot of the community left after the BFR's (Uber Mechs) were launched and that futhermore ruined the game.  PS used to have huge massive battles of 200v 200v 200 on three conts and this is when they have 5 servers instead of the 3 they have today... Nowadays on the most populated server you might get 1 continent locked during prime time but that is all nowadys..

    So compared to before the battles are very small. Also peformance has gone down dramatically over the past few months. The new CM said they will be working on that after the next patch which will come out the end of this  month.. But its up to you to belive them or not, personally I tired of empty promises and the Devs quitting and decided to cancel for good this time. PLanetside is a dying game which is evident by the way that they cant keep there development team that was there in the beggining.

    Does it make any difference whether there are 5 pop-locked continents or just 1?  Not really.  In both situations the players on each continent are enjoying huge battles with 133 players on each side.

    Yes, some Devs have left so no, there won't be much further development of Planetside.  I don't care - I'm having loads of fun the way the game is now.

    Ofcourse it makes a difference since many times that ONE continent is locked (meaning if your not on it you have to wait in line to get on it which can take forever). So what about the people that cant get on that ONE cont?  Where is the huge battle for them to get into like it used to be in the good old days before teh Devs ruined the game. 

    Nowadays if your not on the ONE locked cont your on ghost hack duty which is a snooze fest.

    You're missing the point a bit here.  If there are two locked conts and you can't get onto either of them, then it's just the same situation.  Or if there are 3 or 4 or whatever.  The point is simply that if you're in a good fight on one continent, it doesn't really matter how busy or empty any of the other ones are.  And on Werner, the quietest of the three servers, there's never a problem finding a good fight as long as you're not logging in at 7am or something.  If there's one locked cont and a huge queue for it, then there are enough players for a decent fight on another cont which is what usually happens.  If there's only a small queue, then wait!  You'll be in the fight a lot quicker than if you're trying to get to a galaxy 7 jumps away in Eve!

    I recently came back to this game with fears that it was dead. I can say it is not. It seems more alive then when I left, thinking it was dead, nearly 6 months ago. I think the addition of merits has breathed new life into the ame. It's so good to see so many support functions running. Vehicles that you would never see are all over the place. AMSs are everywhere. ADV Medics are reviving all the dead. People are figthing to repair maxes. It's been fantastic! I say all this because it leads to my overall answer.... this game has better fights NOW than it ever did! It's so good to have the infantry int eh thick and then run back for repairs and meds and actually HAVE them! If you like infantry fights, this is the game.... no other like it, for now.

    No your missing the point, the topic was "how many" and compared to what its nothing... Like I said before prior three used to be serveral conts which meant serveral big battles to choose from. Now if your locked out of the ONE cont that locked all that is left over LIKE RIGHT NOW as I speak as a  matter of fact is enough people to camp a tower.. THe numbers is what im talking about there nothing like what they used to be.. Hence the reason why only ONE cont can be locked at a time now in prime time.

    *Sigh* The topic was how many, but the discussion had moved away from that and the point of my arguement was that it doesn't matter how many, as long as there are enough to lock at least one continent.  (Which there are, every evening).  All you've done is repeat yourself, I guess because you can't respond to my point.

    If you've got 2 or 3 or 4 poplocked continents, there's just as much chance that you'll have only a few folk left over as if you've got one poplocked continent.  So again, once that first continent is locked, it doesn't really matter how many players you've got.  That is my point.

    Good to see you're still playing Planetside though.image
