RF Online: GamesCampus to Publish RFO in North America

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

GamesCampus has announced that RF Online ("Rising Force Online") will be returning to North America as part of its growing stable of MMOs. RF Online features three factions and is considered a PvP-centric title. GamesCampus will publish RFO as a free to play title.

RF Online features three distinct races: Bellato, with pointed ears, use Force (magic) as their primary weapon.  They rely on heavy mechs known as MAU’s for a variety of combat situations.  Cora are similar to Bellato in appearance, though larger, and prefer to use their Force to call and tame creatures known as Animus to aid in their victories.  Accretia are a race of cyborgs, completely mechanical, and unable to use Force.  Instead they rely on technological feats including both close range weapons and ranged combat such as rocket launchers.

Get started on your journey by visiting the official RF Online site.

... again ? its what.. like 3rd time this game has changed publishers ? :o

I remember it from the time it was still p2p, it was actually quite nice 3-side pvp game, almost like daoc in space :)

this game had some good pvp. Hopefully they have improved on it, this game has been around say 10 years or so?

yea its definitely old, i used to play it while it was under codemasters. It did have some really nice graphics back then, and pvp was a blast. Too bad it had way too many bugs and at some point it became a hackers paradise (with some really serious hacks not being adressed for months).

but even then, its 3 way pvp was fantastic. pvp for resources, planets, zones, it was pretty much open pvp everywhere you could go and yet i remember us happily hunting near other faction countless times (had to watch over your shoulders tho, sometimes just one wrong move would start mass pvp :p) :P

eh good old games, how i miss those days (:

The PvP was very fun but it's been re released to death. Codemasters lost the rights originally then the game developer re released it with all of these game breaking changes like super weapons that you start with. It was very fun until it went F2P. If they can release it correctly then it may get some traction, I wish it was releasing with the space battle portion of the game though, I had been looking forward to that for 3 years or so until I gave up.

a long time ago i remember it looking pretty good and played it a bit under codemasters, but all these years later i dont think it will look anywhere near as good, and for this reason and the grind it will not fair well against the current crop of free to play/ dime and nickel games.....

    Playing: FFXIV
Future: wishing for SWG 2, World of Warcraft Classic
Played: Most current and extinct MMO's - 18 Years in....

    Interesting Fact - I own 27 Tarantula's

Very literally the worst game based on PvP I have ever had the misfortune of playing.

Loved this game back when CM had it but can't see much demand for this. Pservers and the offical servers are more then enough for the already pretty small population.

The pay to win model they re-released with last time didn't cut it, I am guessing.  Got tired of facing people with their cash store pots.

This.  Pvp that depends on store bought items is a definite loser.  I doubt this game, considering it's age, will be worth playing again.

Bought it when CM still had the publisher rights here. When it shut down and got revived for 'us' on the Korean servers, I played it a couple of times, but ditched it quickly. Can't imagine I'd be playing it again...
