Player Names In WvWvW

in Guild Wars 2

I've bought GW2 and can't wait to play it, but one thing I've read is bugging me a bit.

Is it true that you can't see friendly or enemy player names in WvWvW ?.

So if you are a good PvPer, you can't really make a name for yourself  and be well known across the servers  :(      ?

    You can see names of the people in your server, but not enemy players. As for the 'making a name' bit, I'm planning to make my character look as unique as possible, so I'll be striking fear into enemies as the black and gold mage, not my character name. ;)

    i'd like to add even if they could see your name in WvW it probably wouldn't matter for what you want.

    if you want to be well known and respected, play extremely well.. do live streams.. put up builds and videos on youtube.. and write some articles..  and be entertaining...

    thats the only way to do it these days with games having 50 million people playing them.

    You might not be able to make your name known but your guild can. Guild tags are showing so you can be in the best WvW guild ever

    Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums

    Forget names, because that doesn't really matter. What I would like is a map wide kill feed that show player's names and what kill them. Would make moments like this all the more hilarious. image

    Also, WvWvW is not about how good YOU are. You alone will not make any difference (well, unless you end up a very very very low population server, playing against other servers like yours... >.< ). You still have the route of commanding, you can try to be a good general for your server, and then have many soldiers wanting to play for you.

    If you want to show off as a good PvPer, you still have sPvP.

    I didn't want my post to sound like it was all about me.

    I enjoy seeing enemy players names, so I know who im up against and know there playstyle & what stratergies they use.

    Also I think it builds up a bit of a rivalry between players.

    So are you really going remember a few of the hundreds of players you'll encounter from all the servers you're are up against? I bet you'll have enough trouble remembering familiar faces on your own server, let alone others.
