Super robust system. There was a yogscast with classes too and man that looked sooooo friggen sweet. Picking and choosing what mix of classes you want to be.

I guess I just dont care enough about my character to really put effort into how far appart my avatar's eyes are or how sunken his cheeks are or getting the shape of his ears right, 90% of the time hes probably going to be wearing a helmet or hood or some other thing like that.

Hair style and color is as far as I go really.
Yeah, this is pretty much me. I like to choose from a set of premade faces/hairstyles, switch up the colors a bit, adjust the gross body dimensions some (I favor small characters) and I'm done.
I've always looked at all those sliders for eyes, checkbones, ears, foreheads etc with wonder, thinking who in the world would spend time on those?
Like you said, half the time I'm wearing a helmet or looking at the back of my head anyways.

The new upcoming feature for EQ2... assOE! Complete control over the size and physics of your characters ass. While others are watching your character's mouth move as you laugh, thanks to the innovation of SOEmote, you can watch your butt cheeks - sized to fit your personal preference - jiggle sync'd to your character's joviality.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre

Dear Lord, I hope they license that tech! Every game needs that feature!

I started watching this vid thinking WTF this is pretty standard character customization with the select of different faces to choose from.. then out came the sliders I am glad they decided to do that..
Ive never been to big on the CC myself, but for the people who are it looks good, let them spend hours making their character
True. But once you've played around in a CoX or an Aion, it's damned hard to go back to kindergarten CC again. Choose one of three haircuts! One of two tats! Awesome..not.
Tough to live without the boob and hips sliders, for sure. :oldpervychortle:

At least with customization like this you won't be running into your exact clone every time you turn around. As well, yes they need boob and butt sliders, not so much for the pervy crowd, but more for those that want an athletic look and not a plastic surgery enhanced porn star look.

For me, having players look basically alike breaks immersion. SWTOR and having everyone running around with cloned sidekicks drove me nuts. I guess it depends on your goals in playing these games. I like to escape reality and project myself into an alternate world. The more customization the better. Usually I will try to make at least one character look as much like the real me as I can too.
However, a lot of people are more interested in just the gameplay mechanics and rewards, which sounds like you, but I can only guess what you are in to.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
For me, more is always better than less in CC... unless they implement a horrible UI for it. CoX was plenty, and AoC was good, too.
Biggest thing that annoys me when they're lacking are a variety of body types; mass and height. It seems insanely silly to have a human Mage or Warlock in WoW that makes Ah-nuld look like Ally McBeal.
TOR's inadequacy here also can't be overstated. Little skinny guy, overly big/tall guy, or retired defensive lineman. What a choice...
As others have said, faces are quite often hidden under gear, but different body types can change the whole look of an armor set. Being able to add/subtract mass and height ala CoX or AoC is right about perfect, in my book. I could have my somewhat tall, lanky HoX, a short, bulky Conqueror, and anything in between.
ok problem I see it is when have lots of people close by, aion ahve a good CC too and when ahve several players close by the hit in fps without you hid things and put all graphics on minimum was brutal.
I'll admit, I'm a customization nut. So much so that I routinely spend the whole early access portion of an MMO on character creation.
I remember Cryptic pre-releasing their character creation tool for Champions Online, and almost thinking "Wow, I don't even need the game now!" Granted, character creation in Cryptic games is usually quite fun and coming up with a character concept in a superhero MMO like CO is half the fun.
This one, it just looks very good. I especially dig the "before" versions, I just don't like it when my characters look too generic.
Oh, and... you people who are not clicking the "Don't Show Helmet" option in MMOs, what's wrong with you?!

At 1 min 04 sec it turned into Darth Maul.
And just to be that guy, at 59 sec middle picture, top line. They have the Hitler stache, holy crap.
I love having in-depth character creation, but some things just shouldn't be there.
You know what's fun about chaos? I do, but I won't tell.
