Yeah its funny... all my students who drive like Mitsubishi Lancers, WRX's, skylines etc are laughing thier asses off at me.

I simply reply "ok if you wanna talk speed then line your 4 wheel shopping cart up against my 1340 Bandit and watch my back tyre disapear into the distance kid"

However when we pull up at the bowser in our cars, I will be giggling and you will be spending your meager student wage on making sure some fat ass arab has more grapes peeled for him today... take your pick!

As for the safety aspect... like I said after 20 years of riding road bikes... when Im in any car I feel like im in a M1A1 tank anways...

I've got an '85 CRX, get's decent gas mileage (25-28 mpg) and it's not ugly or anything... and for a first car, I'm not complaining. ::::20::

    *Edit*

But yeah, if an SUV or something runs into me on the freeway or even the highway I'm pretty dead. ::::07::

If an SUV runs into an SUV someone is dead. In fact if I recall correctly SUV's have some of the highest driver fatility rates of any vehicles on the road.

One of the European colleges claim to have been able to store Hyrdrogen Fuel in a solid form (instead of a compressed gas/liguid form)  I think everyone in America needs to go into mass energy saving mode.  Turn down the t-stat and wear more sweaters.  Cut out unnecessary trips.  Get rid of the gas guzzler if you can afford to buy a more efficient car.  We need to work more on conservation right now until a viable alternative is created and the economy switched out.

Those cars don't look very good imo. And that website is the perfect example of when a company tries to do something new/original and makes it annoying to navigate.

Yea us poor folks have been doing that for years. Its the elite rich that couldnt care less about such things. I dont understand why so many other countrys think us Americans are so rich. Most things cost the same as they pay in their respected countrys, just the dollar goes farther over there. Look at New Orleans. Thats how it is here, they stuff the poor out in one big area and forget about em. Even when bad stuff happens to them. War screwed alot of familys up and generations after leaving alot of children like myself with a broken home cause the father is so screwed up. Atolt are thrown into society with no real understanding of the way thing are suppose to go. Alot never had a chance to go to college or anything like that. Im not trying toi make excuses for people. I can only really use my own experiences to to mold my opinion.  How can one afford one of these suv's or even a hybrid for that matter when after bills and rent a person ( if they manage well and catch the deals at the local grocery store) only has about $50-$100 if their lucky. If they have children then take that out along with cigs or pop.

I think the government should do like germany did with the bug. Make a low cost alternative powered vehicle, plain as can be( radio optional to cost effectiveness) given for a trade in of a persons gas powered vehicle. No frills type of car unless your wealthy enough to buy the extras. Then you can completely switch over to any alternative fuel immediately with little to no hassle. recycling the old vehicle could cut costs also.

ultimately a choice will have to be made. I just hope they don't wait till the last minute to do the right thing.

I actually agree with most of that...

I cannot understand why car companies are still allowed to market vehicles based on how fast they go from 0-100 when the very next ad on TV is the government telling you to slow down and save lives. It is hipocrisy on a government supported mass scale that basically defies belief. If you wrote it into a movie people would laugh... except its not a movie its really happening every day.

I have long argued that there should be one government endorsed vehicle that is safe, fuel efficient and incapable of exceeding a speed limit...

Ok its a stupid notion... and I hope it never happens because I love my strupidly powerful motorbike and I wouldnt want to change... but it is an answer and its rich for governments to claim tnhey give a crap about the environment and public safety then endorse the sale of SUV's that chew enough gas in 1 hour to power a 3rd world nation for a month and WRX's that do 160mph without even trying...
