There are ZERO good games out there right now unless your standards are so low you'd be willing to play something as horrible as Allods Online as your fulltime source of "fun".
Sorry, but I literally did the following after reading that column:
The Theory of Conservative Conservation of Ignorant Stupidity: Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.
Originally posted by Razeekster You enjoy SW:TOR and WoW... It's no wonder you have too many games. A large portion of the population considers those games to be... Well not fun (no offense meant, I actually enjoyed WoW at a certain point).
A large portion of the MMO population? Or a large portion of the MMORPG.com population?
Clarity may be necessary for a statement such as that.
I would bet if you took the entire NA/EU playerbase that is actively playing an MMORPG, WoW and SWTOR would account for more than half of that
SWTOR could possibly have less population than some ofther MMOs right now. Not sure if anyone is holding at the 600k sub spot or not. So I really wouldn't put SWTOR in the same category as WoW. SWTOR is with the rest of the MMOs.
EvE is the number 3 NA/EU MMORPG with just shy of 400k. Rift is likely fourth, and nobody knows sub numbers but I would imagine around 200kish is likely. LOTRO is probably around the same if you count f2pers. TSW or EQ2 would likely be next.
Nothing is remotely close to WoW (I would imagine its got somewhere around 2.5 mil NA/EU at this point), and SWTOR has more subs than the next two highest combined. Thats the sad state games are in right now.
I have difficulty with multi-tasking games. It can only be one game at a time - if I switch to another then that usually means bye-bye to the original game for a good whack of time.
Originally posted by TruthXHurts I find the problem isn't too many games, but not enough games worth playing. I never had this problem 6 years ago. The MMO industry must have decided to take the lemmings approach and blindly throw themselves off a cliff while we frantically throw money at them to try to get them through to their next horrible decision.
What I'm Playing:
Darkwind War on Wheels
Minecraft - Mods
Arma 2 - Mods

I think it's more an issue with the standards we have as players. I was having the same issue until recently when I took a step back and just decided to quit looking for my perfect game. Now I'm playing a trio consisting of TSW, Wakfu, and Ryzom, and enjoying all three immensely.
too many good games!!!! your either stuck in some kind of melt down or burnout or you not a serious gamer!
ive always found that theirs too many shit games and only a handful of of really good ones! and ive played the really good ones to death and still play and swtor is not one of neither is wow.

And most of those "standards" don't even exist in an single game. They are merely wants, desires and wishes. It's ok to hope for these things, but every game isn't "crap" if it doesn't meet these hypothetical "standards'...
I think some MMO players are way too harsh on games. I think it comes from the expectations that subscriptions bring, and that we are only willing to invest in one game at a time. F2P and B2P are mostly to blame for the 'too many games' syndrome as subs tend to keep players in one game at a time.
i wish i had more time for games. having broken out my total annilation disk sets and red alert 1 (after cracking it to work on win7 >>") i never have an issue having a game to play just finding time to play it lol.
perhaps time should be spent finding a game you really enjoy to play and just playing it
dont always have to play MMOs... you would be amazed at how enjoyable some classic games can be in MP (if you can get it working.)
There are ZERO good games out there right now unless your standards are so low you'd be willing to play something as horrible as Allods Online as your fulltime source of "fun".
There are plenty of good games out there if you realize that no one game, or even gaming itself, should be your "fulltime source of fun". I love gaming, but if you're in that state of mind it's time to let go of the keyboard for a couple of days and discover some other "sources of fun". Trust me, i've been there.
Funny, I have been struggling to find a quality MMORPG to play but then again I have never been much of a ThemePark fan so GW 2 will probably not interest me either. So only game which I am looking forward to is ArcheAge and that might not be released until 2013-14.
Right now im messing with Path of Exile, Dawnguard, Tribes Ascend, Dota 2, Left4Dead 2, Magic 2012, Darksiders (beating before i buy DSII), Terraria, Symphony, FlatOut UC (got on sale), Diablo 3, Payday the heist.
Like i said if you don't lock yourself into the terrible mmo genre there are tons of great games to play. My backlog of games purchased the last two years is insane. I could literally not buy another game for four years and have something to play everyday.
The solution, Pokket, is to get yourself a cosplay costume of your LoL character and wear it for your next GameFace. It will solve everything, including world peace.
The problem only gets worse if you add some good Single Player games to your list. For this reason I've been holding off on buying Skyrim, but I finally broke down and bought it! And now I've got no time for no other game!
I didn't see a REAL virtual world where the word "FREE" (as liberty) mean something since... a f*cking while !
Yeah I'm sure... MMO without purely guided gameplay is DEAD !
Let me shot zombies on Dead Frontier for kill my frustration and wait the DayZ stand alone format (more mmo than the actual mmo... it doesn't make sense)
While not entirely off the mark in it's premise, this article is falling backwards into rambling. "Let's spray words on the page" is not a writing style.
It's too bad. After the last video I had some small hopes.
I've got the same issue as Pokket, but it seems that many of you here who commented have such huge standards, I wonder if you actually can still enjoy games at all with all the negative talk you guys are spouting.
Anyway I just pick a few games which I decide to try, when I'm tired of them, I move on to the next. Like you said, there are too many which I haven't tried yet but would like to try but yeah... days are just too short.

Oh so you're the guy who started the trend...hmmm...

Why did Marceline's dad eat her fries? I mean...cause she bought them and they were hers...

I guess that sort of makes me monogamous!

Too many games - too little time - agreed!

Looking forward to: Nothing
I have no doubt about mmo market.
